- Activation Methods: The node can be manually or passively through a synced system or it activates based on preset parameters via its scanning field.
- Backup Batter Storage: The Model 198 stores enough energy in order to activate and engage its system far faster than standard boot up protocols
- Emergency Bypass: This piece of technology is fitted in such a manner that it has direct access to what its connected to in a closed circuit, bypassing controls or most interceptions.
- Sensor Field: This system creates a 1-10m radius sensor field in which it is capable of detecting energy readings, momentum and force per square inch
- Variable Appearance: The Early Bird system can be made to look like anything from a watch, arm-band, belt buckle choker or any number of stylish metallic accessories.
- Wireless Sync: Using its transmitter it is able to create a wireless link to a HUD or Vehicle Control system in order to operate their defenses.
STRENGTHS
- Early Bird Warning System: The primary function of the Model 198 is to carry a charge capable of rapidly activating any system it is integrated with. Be it personal shields, defense towers, countermeasures or otherwise. It does this through either manual activation of the user, or through its passively active sensors detecting energy or momentum within their 1-10m radius to which the user sets the sensitivity. Should an object of energy, force or momentum enter or move within the field the Early Bird instantly activates the synced system, be it a shield, electronic counter measures system, an EM Field etc.
- Quick-start: The Early Bird carries a power cell strong enough to jump-start the system that it is synced to long enough for the standard method of powering the system to be able to take over after the initial activation. This allows the system by bypassing traditional startup procedures to be able to engage systems almost instantaneously, far faster in most cases than the standard start up or power up procedures of other equipment.
- Variable Equipment: The early-bird can be equipped to almost anything that requires a start up process and power in order to speed up the process in which it starts up significantly. It has proven effective with E-web blasters, Advanced Weapons Systems, Shield Arrays, Hyperdrives and is even variable enough to sync to multiple devices simultaniously and many many more systems.
WEAKNESSES
- Battery Size: The Early Bird is capable of lasting for 50 hours of its sensors running continually before it compromises the battery of the synced system. Additional drain will make the rapid startup less effective over time.
- Comparable Size: Some things require significantly more power than others, requiring the backup power source to be larger depending on the unit, taking up potentially significant space with the likes of some star-ships.
- Power Surge: The storm of power that is unleashed when the early bird system kicks in can deal damage to systems which aren't protected against surges of power. Usually effecting small personal objects a lot worse than larger far more fortified systems.
- Relentless Activation: Whether the user wants it to or not, once the Early Bird system is set, anything which enters its radius will cause system to start the synced system. Be it a shield, system or otherwise. This can lead to unwanted power drain of the synced system or other potential consequences.

Felix Aquila wanted to create an anti assassination system which would allow him to shield VIP targets or House Aquila Soldiers and lessen their risk of ambush or personal assassination. This system has repeatedly proven itself effective at activating automated weapon systems, E-Webs, House Aquila's unique firearms as well as personal shields faster than a bullet penetrating its 1m radius sensor could reach its intended target.
In the short time it's been employed the system has saved dozens of lives as well as making life for those in hostile conditions easier. Able to sense heat energy, the Early Bird system has been used on house Aquila Moisture farms to activate in relation to the weather in order to save considerable power for the farmers, and easing their living conditions, improving the quality of life of people across worlds.
