BIOGRAPHY:

Would the fates have blown in another direction Edric Florian may not exist at all. Edric’s mother Máire Adelaide was a woman of noble birth and high standing, a cousin and lady-in-waiting to the queen. In truth Máire’s mother was cousin to the mother of the queen but that made them related enough to put Máire in high standing. Máire was a perfect fit for court life, she was beautiful and sharp of both tongue and wit able to draw gales of laughter with well-placed japes or impress with her ability to have conversation on all manner of subjects from philosophy to the finer points of religion.

She and the queen grew up close as sisters and it was Máire to whom her cousin first revealed her betrothal to at the time Prince Levander Sabathian. It was not long after that Máire herself became betrothed.

Her would-be-husband was Arezzo Nerezza, the second born son of Ebenezer Nerezza, a high ranking member of the religious order of The Fayth. They were betrothed for over a year with wedding plans well underway when controversy struck and it was revealed Arezzo had gotten another woman with child. Arezzo and his new wife were married quickly and quietly sent to Blackborne Manor on Evaria. House Nerezza scrambled to save face amidst a scandal and swiftly moved to marry Máire to a cousin of the disgraced Arezzo Nerezza.

Eomyr Florian the young head of house Florian would under normal circumstances not be considered an ideal match for someone such as Máire Adelaide but as these were less than ideal circumstances the match was made and the two were wed within a fortnight.

House Florian was a lesser house when it came to the nobility of Islimore, despite this however Eomyr Florian was one of these wealthiest men on the continent if not the whole planet, with his wealth rivaling and perhaps even exceeding the wealth of the crown. His wealth however did not come from the spoils of war nor was not inherited from some ancient ancestral hero, no Eomyr was a businessman. Give him one credit and he would turn it to three and three to twelve and twelve into thirty. It was this talent for money that led House Florian to heights that were once unimaginable.

It were only a few years before the birth of their youngest son Edric that Eomyr discovered that Count Jast Honidue had defaulted on a loan provided to him by Eomyr. To compensate and pay off this debt, the crown forced Count Honidue to vacate his lands and all else he claimed ownership of including the city of Vatu, and in his place installed Eomyr Florian as governor of Vatu, the second largest trading hub on all of Islimore and with the stroke of a pen and the word from friends as powerful as The King himself, House Florian rose to be as great as any of those who had been established at the landing of William Blackmoore.

Eomyr spent most of his days especially early on after his appointment in Vatu, while his wife stayed in the capitol near her cousin The Queen and her growing family. Finally a year after gaining the city House Florian was blessed with a child and this is where Edric enters his own story.

Like his mother before him Edric grew up in the palace at court and like his mother, the boy seemed to impress anyone he came in contact with. His pale silvery-gold hair and violet eyes made him a sight to behold and the object of infatuation for many of the young girls at court, while his tutors remarked at how quickly he progressed through his studies and his prayer and recitation of their tenants left no doubt if his devotion to The Fayth.

Also like his mother Edric grew up with his closest friend being a Sabathian Princess. Born on the same day as the youngest daughter to The King and Queen, Edric grew up with essentially a royal twin, the two took lessons and prayer together, ate their meals together and until it was no longer deemed appropriate would often share a bed together.

When the young princess was stricken with her Illness and her life became more and more restricted and her friends were around less and less as their lives moved beyond what was allowed for the girl, Edric was there for her and he promised he always would be.

At the age of twelve Edric began to squire for the crown prince Alastair Sabathian, regarded at only twenty-two as the greatest knight in the world. Edric swore whatever achievements the eldest Sabathian had attained, he would outdo them.

At fifteen Edric enlisted as a mystery knight in a tournament for the princess Ceri’s name day. Riding as hard and as well as he ever had no man was able to stand before him in the tilts until he was matched with the prince. The two young men broke seven lances against one another before Edric finally went tumbling from his horse and was forced to reveal himself, he may not have won the tournament as he hoped but his skill and determination especially in the last bout earned him the love of the commons and nobility alike

It was a year after that Edric Florian became Ser Edric. In his sixteenth year Edric squired for the prince as he led a sortie to end a rebellion against his father’s rule. During the fighting the prince was struck down and wounded with an arrow. Edric picked up his fallen liege’s sword, stood over and protected him for over an hour as the battle raged on around them. When the dust had cleared and the blood had settled, the loyalists had achieved victory, and the prince had lived in no small part thanks to his squire who had slain a dozen men and taken a serious wound of his own. Once the prince had recovered and the army had come back to the capitol Alastair Sabathian himself knighted Edric Florian on the steps of the cathedral in front of throngs of screaming and cheering people, common and noble. Though truly Edric only cared if one person had seen.

He took his vows and upon truly being a knight pledged his service to his oldest and dearest friend, the princess Myrella.
