- Ritual Brand 2.0: Taking the design and implementation of a double bladed sword, it can function just as well as any other sword in the right hands. Using a double bladed weapon requires some training, but owning one of these compared to any other kind of double bladed weapon will be easily used.
- Hot and Ready to Go: The weapon uses two blades that can be ejected from either side of the "baton" simply by twisting the baton near the center. The spring mechanisms will be unlocked. Allowing the blades to eject with force into position to be used. To make sure that the blades stay in place, a dual locking feature locks the rotation of the baton to keep edge alignment, and to prevent the blades from sliding back into the housing. This feature can be unlocked to allow the retraction of the blades by thumbing a button in the center of the housing, and twisting the baton in reverse.
- Just in Case: Using Duraplast, the weapon has very minor resistance to lightsaber weaponry. Just in case you happen to come up against a lightsaber jockey, it can allow you to defend yourself for a couple strikes for allies to come in and help you, or to retreat to draw a more suitable weapon to fight Force users with.
- Short and Spicy: While the weapon is considered a double bladed sword, the actual blades are small compared to its sister Echani double bladed weapons, and ritual brands. Thinner and shorter in length with a distal taper to keep weight as low as possible, and make sure that the ejection feature will work without problem.
- Lightsaber Jockeys: As the weapon does use duraplast, it can resist lightsaber strikes. However, it will only do so for quick strikes or glancing blows. "Lightsaber Locks" or heavy cleaves with the iconic weapon can still heavily damage the weapon, or even remove the blade from the baton. This is a concealable double bladed weapon for easier carrying use, but not suited for a full fledged fight against force users.
- Ping!: As the weapon uses various analog springs, and features, the weapon needs to be kept and maintained to function properly. Sure it can take some beating, but having small debris in the path of the blade, and it can damage it during ejection, or even break the springs. Secondly, the weapon is not easily fixed. It requires a steady hand, and determination to take it apart, clean it, and put it back together. Best leave fixing to the professionals.
- Don't stab your leg!: As the weapon can eject the blades with quite a bit of force, should your hand, or any body part be in the way, it can pierce your skin, cause damage to you, or if armor is directly in front of the opening, the blade can be damaged. There was also no locking feature for releasing the weapon. There is a lock for keeping the blades open, but not for keeping them closed. So keep away from children who know how to twist the baton. As well, limitations with the weapon arise with a circular grip. This makes it a little difficult to keep edge alignment compared to an ovate grip.
Double bladed weapons have been a staple of the Zabrak vibroblades, notable for their ability to detach from one another to be used as single bladed weapons to be dual wielded, as well as the ritual brands of the Echani used by their Firedancers. While these weapons are used more for rituals or actual combat, the Echani have not made any advances in technology with these class of weapons. Many Echani are stuck with carrying around rather large and cumbersome weapons.
To provide more convenience to them, as well as potential customers of Yusanic Ironworks and Forge, Shaun procured the idea of having the twin blades have the ability to slide in and out from a central housing piece. Reminded greatly of a double bladed lightsaber that could do the same, The weapon idea was brought forth.
Creating the blades and the housing was quite simple. Any Smith could create the weapon parts needed. However, it took time, and patience to fabricate the springs, internal components, and locking mechanisms to function without breaking down. To prevent "rattling" of the weapon when in use, the parts are almost quite literally shoved into the "baton" of the weapon and enclosed tightly. This means that with the use of the weapon, and general carrying use would not be a problem.
However, this meant that the take down and construction was complicated to do purely by hand. It requires tools and the technological know how to properly take the weapon apart without breaking, damaging, or losing pieces of the internal mechanisms. Despite this, Shaun pieced together the puzzle after some time and produced the first working prototype of the weapon.
While at first it worked rather well, the blades themselves were difficult to eject. Adding a distal taper to allow easier sliding of the blades out into place, and increasing the springs coils to be more powerful, Shaun found out rather quick not to stick your hand in front of the opening.
A secondary problem came up. With the blades being ejected, it was difficult to keep them out from the housing without pushing the blade back in when stabbing or using it in general. As such, a locking feature was added to make sure the twisting motion of the housing didn't pull in the blades while in the middle of a fight, or the blades to be pushed in due to use.
After completing the final product, Shaun began production of more of these models for sale.
