Description
Part of Project Invariant, the IBS Lance is a revolutionary iteration in Planetary Bombardment. 110m satellites built in high-orbit around Emergence-Held Planets, these orbiting Railguns use Tachyon-Field Generators to produce and contain quantum excitations in the Tachyonic Field. The newly produced Tachyons are kept from decaying and integrated with Hypermatter to form a 'shell' of super-high energy.
Once the Lance has been given a target, it syncs with other nearby Lances and takes aim. The firing mechanism consists of nothing more than Magnets. The 'Shell' is released and directed down the barrel where Magnetic Accelerators propel the already Superluminal ordnance to "Hyperluminal" speeds. Travelling from one end of the Galaxy to the other in minutes.
The quantity of Tachyons making up the 'shell' depends on the distance needed to travel. The further the distance, the greater the number of Tachyons thus the greater amount of energy needed to fire the Lance. This Tachyon/Distance Ratio is calculated to perfect the impact velocity and damage output.
As Tachyons decay, so too does the 'Shell'. With the gradual loss of Energy, speed decreases. As the 'Shell' arrives near its intended site, most Tachyons will have decayed. If the IBS's calculations were perfect, the Hyprmatter ordnance will arrive at its intended site at near-luminal speed. This allows the impact to contain enough energy to deal tremendous damage, but also avoids the annihilation associated with superluminal object collisions.
