POINTS OF INTEREST
Areas of significance
· Ankarreswood Tree – Situated in the middle of Eirin’s Reach of Fridheim is the Ankarreswood Tree. A piece of this tree, which had been gifted to the Order of the Silver Jedi by Rave Merrill ([member="Jorus Merrill"]), was struck and encouraged to grow under the care of the former Grand Master [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] which was transported from Voss to Fridheim, and there he planted and tended it until accustom to the soils and harsh climate conditions of Midvinter.
· Plant and Herb Gardens – An outdoor garden with lined plots in which various plants and herbs with medicinal properties are grown to use for healing. These plants and herbs are native to Midvinter and grow healthy in the cold conditions. Gold of Pleasure, Salvia (Sage), Flax, Brassica, Kale, Coriander, Henbane, and Butterbur to list a few.
· Greenhouse – Conditions and temperature controlled conservatorium for the propagation of plants and herbs with medicinal properties exotic to Midvinter. Security on the conservatorium is more vigilant with restricted access to the Masters Heavenshield. The reason for this is that some of the plants and herbs would be dangerous to people without working knowledge of them and although there is little fear of contamination of the local environment as the extreme cold weather of the Midvinter would kill them, there is no need for unnecessary risk of cross contamination with local plant species. Useful flora from around the galaxy from faraway places such as Naboo, Saleucami and Endor to name a few, are respected and used for the greater health of the people of Midvinter.
[IC] Useful Flora – Credit to [member="Asha Hex"] for the collection of cannon flora.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Immediately after the attack on Midvinter by the Sith, Thurion and Coci began establishing a new settlement in the west of the continent for the Valkyri that had been displaced. The losses of loved ones, homes, possessions, livelihoods of the people could never be replaced however in order to give them hope and a future, the fishing village of Fridheim was established.
Much work would be required, and every abled bodied man, woman and child pitched in the help build the needed residencies, cobbled roads, storage houses, market place, stable, jetties along the shore line of the harbour, boats etc. Everything needed to live comfortably in their new homes and survive the unforgiving winters.
A stable had been in use for a healing place which would never be adequate for the future and so Coci and Thurion began work on Eirin’s Reach (named after the Goddess of Healing, one of the lesser Gods of Midvinter). The construction effort took weeks of hard labour, moving stone for the masons and thick logs for milling. The most talented herbalists set about collecting native species of herbs and plants to bed in the gardens and in time, collections of exotic plants would be housed in the greenhouse under strict supervision of the Masters Heavenshield.
