John Rakugan was formerly a hangar engineer for the Commenor military who worked mostly on the weapons and targeting systems of the starships, but also made starship repairs and occasionally worked on shielding. He has 8 years of military experience, many times working 12 to 18 hour days. Commenor's starport is one of the busiest trade starports in the region, and so John Rakugan has proven ability and has perfected the craft of creating and maintaining weapons.
When John Rakugan left the military, his life became more or less directionless. He did not know what to do with his life outside of the military, and so he created his own gun shop, "John's Guns", and began to manufacture and repair small-arm weapons.
John has spent the last 20-something years unsuccessfully trying to manufacture a blaster that makes use of the rare corizthar crystals of Commenor, blasting with four times the power of a regular laser. However, all of his tests have been a bust, either destroying the prototype entirely or causing a misfire. John has made prototypes of blasters, rifles, and even vibroblades, spending almost all of the money that his business made trying to make a successful Hyper Blaster prototype. John has made essentially no progress whatsoever and he will go out of business unless he does something drastic.
Therefore, against his better judgement, John has rebranded "John's Guns" as Elysium Industries and has gotten back into the business of starship engineering / maintenance. He sold all of the guns, ammunition, parts, supplies and machines that he was using before at John's Guns. Then, he put a down payment on a loan large enough to get him a 500x500 hangar
DESCRIPTION:
Elysium Industries is a manufacturer, supplier, distributor and mechanic for military and personal use starships. Its headquarters is based in Chasin City, Commenor. Since Commenor is neutral and situated at a central location between the Mandalorians, the Galactic Alliance and the Free Worlds Coalition, the Elysium Industries spaceport is one of the busiest in the Inner Rim.
Elysium Industries' headquarter location used to be a gun store called "John's Guns", but the entire building was refurbished and most of the gun manufacturing equipment was sold out of necessity. The shipping-receiving area of the gun store became the landing bay, and the front area of the store was converted into a parts and modifications kiosk with a landing strip. Because Elysium Industries is expected to become around-the-clock busy repairing starships, there is no business office. In fact, space for a business office was deliberately never built so that Elysium could maximize the number of starships they can fit in the bay.
Due to the fact that Elysium Industries is (currently) equivalent to the size of a mom-and-pop mechanic's shop, their capacity to repair and manufacture ships is limited to small- and medium-sized ships only. They will need to either acquire a capital ship or acquire an extremely large facility in order to service anything bigger than a space-slug-sized ship.
For the most part, Elysium Industries acts as an innovator and inventor, attempting to improve and better Chasin City and Commenor at large. They make profits ethically, and never cut corners. John Rakugan has meticulously planned his hangar so that starships can get in, be repaired as quickly as possible, and head back out as quickly as possible. This demonstrates that Elysium does genuinely care about its customers and is not just trying to make a quick buck. John has even considered a towing service for lost or downed ships (though he'd never be able to afford a towing ship!)
Elysium Industries' current big project, led by C.E.O and Chief Engineer John Rakugan, is to design and manufacture a four-seat all-around military starship called the Elysium Spectre...that could also be used by civilians. A challenging proposal, to be sure. If the prototype is a success, Elysium will take it to a larger company--or perhaps the military--in the hopes of having it mass produced.
John has big goals for Elysium and hopes to see it grow massively.
