However, during times of greater economic prosperity or need for repairs after defenses against the planet's more aggressive wildlife, the Consortium's various corporations will import the following from non-Consortium organizations -
- Various forms of Encryption Keys
- Standard and Advanced Electronics
- Gourmet Food and Beverages
- Armor and Weapon Components
- Various Armored Vehicles and Star Ships
- Major Exports: Exportation off-world is strictly limited to the operations and business across the Baal System, although trade with non-Consortium corporations and organizations is allowed with the approval of the Council. When allowed, the following has been approved for exportation to non-Consortium organizations -
- Unexploited Resources: Cortosis
- Gravity: Standard
- Climate: Described as a super world by many and a paradise world by others due its size and location in the optimal zone of Baal's orbit, Conviction is a planet of unnatural beauty. Mostly comprised of a uniquely single biosphere, Conviction's climate has been described by the rare visitor as being "perfect", with subtle winds and refreshing, cool temperatures no matter the time of day or the current season, of which there are a reported dozen. The season weather itself is also described as unnaturally calm, with harsh rain or snow storms only occurring once every few seasons depending on the time of year. Because of this climate, it is very common for citizens to spend entire days outside, even after weeks of laborious work; walks through the forests outside of the cities are also common, although less so due to the threat of the planet's more carnivorous creatures. The native species of the planet are more wont to partake in the latter due to their deep understanding of the landscape and how to avoid the carnivorous beasts, which do add a persistent negative to an otherwise perfect world.
- Primary Terrain: Conviction is, for all intents and purposes, a single giant forest with a sustainable atmosphere. Thick vibrant canopies of unidentified species of trees, shrubbery, and plant life cover the planet almost entirely, with the exceptions of treeless landscapes being the recently constructed cities, bodies of water, and the occasional field. Yet, even these are still surrounded by the ancient forest, prompting the use of massive circular walls to prevent the cities from being overrun with the lush greenery. The size of the bodies of water naturally varies, the most common type appears to be lakes and rivers. The single largest body of water on the planet is known as the Great Sea and lies in the center of Western Hemisphere. These bodies are filled with many types of fish and amphibians used in cooking, and the sea is said to be home to a species of magnificent aquatic titans, although they have never been seen in the modern times. Additionally, two magnificently large trees can be found in the Southern Pole and appear to be the main habitat of the planet's more mystical natives. These trees are also responsible for producing a sap that is said to have healing properties akin to two applications of bacta.
- Atmosphere: Type-1
- Capital City: Tal Afatba - Roughly 90.450 square kilometres in size, making it the largest of the cities on Conviction, and comprised by a series of walled-off sectors, Tal Afatba is the seat of the Consortium's government and serves as the headquarters for many of the corporations operating on the planet. Life in the city is described by the motto "hard work makes an easy life," with citizens of all social rankings expected to earn their keep through undying dedication and loyalty. Each sector, of which number five, is home to massive production facilities in service to the sciences and engineering that rapidly build the Consortium's war machine and economy as they plan on advancing beyond the Baal System.
- Planetary Features:
- Railroads: Rather than utilizing the tried-and-true speeder tracks and shuttle systems of most other civilized planets, the Consortium has worked with the natives to produce an interconnected series of Hovertrain railroads. The purpose of these railroads is to provide a comfortable and safe transport for the planet's citizens and to provide the unused speeders to the city guards for quicker response time to possible threats.
- Nests: The carnivorous species that wander the landscape are most often seen in nests constructed out of fallen trees or located inside caves and overrun mining facilities. These nests are beyond count and are often the targets of the planet-wide Great Spectacles.
- Outposts: The Consortium and native forces have installed numerous outposts throughout the landscape to ensure that any possible stranded pirates and/or explorers cannot escape notice. These outposts also serve as the first line of defense against the occasional swarm of carnivorous beasts that attempt to overrun the settlements or cities.
- Mines: The planet is pockmarked by numerous Consortium-Approved Mining Facilities, all of which serve their own individual corporations across the planet and system. Interestingly, despite this individuality in ownership as well as the primary resource chosen for mining, the facilities do not range in appearance beyond what banner hangs on the walls. Each facility is thus universally comprised of an ever-increasing series of alusteel machine platforms, box-shaped operation buildings, and long elevators.
- Major Locations:
- Great Sea: The largest body of water on the planet, the Great Sea is an expansive stretch in the center of the Western Hemisphere. It is from here that most of the planet's fish and crustacean food derives, although - curiously - the Northernmost section of the Sea is left untraversed due to rumors of a species so large that the shores could be swallowed whole. The validity of such a rumor is unproven, although the general worry and apprehension to test it gives some possible merit.
- Soniholde: The second largest immigrated city on the planet, Soniholde serves as the main military housing district for the Consortium forces. Many officers and standard soldiers choose to reside here simply for its strictly regimented and efficient lifestyle. Additional draws are its incredibly well-defended walls and a host of opportunities for further increasing skills such as marksmanship and even stealth.
- Cerulea Academy: Named after the first General of the Consortium's military, Cerulea Academy is equal parts military training camp and educational university, ensuring that each student lives up to expectations and reputation set by their progenitor. Because of its regime, Cerulea Academy's students graduate with a balanced knowledge of combat and academics. Almost every new Consortium citizen must attend the Academy for its full 6 year training course lest to be imprisoned or exiled for dissidence.
- Aeros: The private residence for the Consortium's elite of the elite, Aeros is a hovering city roughly 1/8th the size of Tal Afatba and is chocked full of fine dining, esteemed museums, and sky-parks. Inhabitants of this city are equal parts respected and derided by the "ground people" for their aura of power and conceit.
- Zephys: The main settlement for those natives species acclimated to warfare and hunting, Zephys is a rustic village full of trophy displays and routine duels of glory and honor between the inhabitants.
- Empearal Ventibell: Home to the largest community of the natives, Empearal Ventibell is the largest of the original settlements prior to the Consortium's arrival and is perhaps the most peaceful locations on Conviction as a whole. Diplomatic to the point of resembling the Galactic Republic, Ventibell is comprised of numerous royal houses that work in tandem with the Consortium's Council to ensure the proper protections are put in and kept in place for the planet's landscape and species as well as protecting the larger star system from outsiders and invaders.
- Empearal Summit: Noted as the one place where even arch-nemeses can coexist, Summit is the political center of Conviction for all sentient life. Located atop a large grassy hill, Summit is a three story pillar-shaped building made of reinforced white marble with ringlets of red flowers and orange jewels. It contains twelve, fashionably decorated large rooms dedicated to individual meetings, debates, and speeches.
- Nova Huricus: Also known as Fortress Giedfield to the Consortium, Nova Huricus is the arcane stronghold of House Giedfield and its closest allies. Measuring an unprecedented 907,240 meters, the stronghold is comprised of 1042 buildings of varying sizes pockmarked around 4 alchemized statues and landmasses created through sorcery. The fort is also home to one of the largest and most packed libraries in the Known Galaxy. Located off the Eastern Coast of the Great Sea and rarely visited even by the planet's natives, this sprawling complex is already regarded as one of the most treasured locations on the planet. Interestingly, similar to Ventibell, those within Nova Huricus act with a noble's etiquette. Even the Devil, known for his brutality and violent sprees, is consistently calm and collected, traits he has rarely held for more than minutes at a time.
- Sanctra Osris: The most safeguarded location within the entire Baal System, without a doubt, is the Sancra Osris, home to so-called Paths developed by the long lineage of the Devil over the years. Unmeasured in its depth and width, this vault of esoteric forbidden knowledge is locked to all save the most astute and loyal of House Giedfield - and even then it is a small chance they are granted entry. This vault - although it has been described as a temple by its visitors - bears a troubling design difficult to understand and follow, with many unprepared visitors easily getting lost in its labyrinthine halls and rooms. It is believed by a few of those who have stepped beyond the locks that the vault reaches across the entire sea where the fortress is located, although this has been denounced as mere conjecture by the vault's owner.
- Aerestrand: The official name for the two massive trees in the South Pole and the home for the mystical natives, who appear to live in perfect harmony with each other. With rooms carved into the sides of both trees and rope bridges serving as pathways in between, as well as an aura of ancient tranquility, Aerestrand is a sanctuary for those seeking spiritual enlightenment and solitude.
- Force Nexus: None
- Native Species: The many native species of Conviction are described as being esoteric and frightening, yet strangely magnetic in the appearance and mannerisms. Encounters paint them as being diplomatic, reclusive, mysterious, mystical, carnivorous, and legendary. Certainly, this only highlights the proven claim that Conviction serves as the home to a surprisingly diverse range of species despite its singular biosphere.
- Immigrated Species: Upon the rediscovery of the planet, which had already been heavily developed by the native species, the newly formed Consortium brokered a deal and began their own habitation process. With the vastness of the landscape and its abundant resources, the Consortiuum was able to create its capital into a pinnacle of advancement and quality of life. Of the Consortium's myriad of species, the most prominent that have immigrated to the world are Drall, Zabrak, Chiss, Pantoran, Null, Dathomirian, Echani, Kaleesh, Kiffar, and various species of Human.
- Population: Moderate - Due to the sheer size of the planet, what would otherwise be considered a heavy, or even a very heavy population on any other world, is considered moderate at worst. Most of the immigrated population itself resides in the Consortium's cities, while the native population is split between their own settlements and the immigrated cities.
- Demographics: Because of the diversity of the world, the exact demographic statistics are difficult to produce, although it can be assumed that there is a rough 40-60 ratio of sentient life to semi-sentient/non-sentient life. Of that 40%, roughly 85% is non-human, while the other 15% is strictly Human.
- Primary Languages: Each individual of Conviction is expected to learn and speak the most common native language, Exelovich, fluently within their first two years as a citizen to promote unity amidst the diversity of species and cultures. The language is described as harsh and direct, yet also mythical sounding, with sentences required to be spoken in very specific format and lacking possessives entirely. In other words, "a Wookiee's rage" is instead spoken as "the rage of a Wookiee" in the language. All public and governmental documents and media are in this language and it is virtually impossible to find anything published in any other language. However, the private ownership of documents and media in an individual's native tongue is allowed, although it cannot be published beyond their own home.
- Culture:
- Daily Life: Life on Conviction is generally regarded as peaceful - barring encounters with hostile wildlife - and every citizen is expected to earn their keep through hard work and dedication to the Consortium's cause.
- Sports and Art: Each species, native and immigrated, has their own selection of sports and teams that are frequently pitted against each other in weekly games. Artwork is also a common sight in households whether professional or amateur.
- Religion: Each sentient species living on Conviction follow their own religion, whether it be Polythesism or Monotheism. Interestingly, House Giedfield are a subject of a few minor - and new - religions amongst the people due to their great power and historical significance in the Baal System.
- Food: The planet's citizens enjoy a wide variety of food to consume, from steaks to loafs to sandwiches and soup. The natives of the world are often looked to for fine dining due to their ability to properly cook the local fauna. Aquatic life are often sought after as delicacies due to the rarity of bodies of water.
- Government:
- Constitutional Monarchy - With Kascalion holding executive power, much of the governmental decisions fall within the council created at the same time the Consortium was formed. A merging of multiple forms of leadership and ideologies would seem impossible to maintain, yet it has managed to survive thus far if through nothing else than stubbornness and fear of the Consortium's executive leader.
- Affiliation:
- Wealth: High - Because of the multitude of corporations present within the Consortium and the plethora of available resources, the general wealth of the organization is relatively high per individual to where very few live outside of comfortable living situations.
- Stability: Medium - Held under the constant threat of annihilation at the hands of House Giedfield and operated by a council of enlightened intellectuals skilled in running large scale organizations, the stability of the Consortium is exponentially higher than most other groups. However, there do exist splinter groups in hiding seeking to take over the super world for their own devices, although they have yet to make significant headway beyond public disturbances and minor terrorist attacks that are quickly swept under the rug by the government.
- Freedom & Oppression: The freedom of the planet is - on a technical scale - balanced between freedom and oppression in that the citizens are free to do as they please in their own lives and free time so long as long as it falls within the confines of the stern rules emplaced by the government. In return, they live comfortable home lives and their free time is full of enjoyment and prosperity. The splinter groups, however, believe that the people have no freedom in actuality and fight to take over the world to free its citizens and lead what they deem a "truly free life."
- Military: The military of Conviction has been described by several senior Consortium officials as a "melting-pot of tactics and structure with a sprinkling of mysticism and brutal elegance." Indeed, with the large combination of the Consortium's soldiers and the myriad of advanced native species, the serving men and women of Conviction are a force to be reckoned with whenever called into action and have displayed a unique meshing of traditional and unorthodox tactics during any single deployment. The apparent universal adeptness with engineering and the sciences also ensures that the equipment the soldiers use during combat is in top condition, even if not all of it is not wholly unique compared to the rest of the Galaxy.
- Technology: The technology of Conviction can be described as a mix of traditional and contemporary, with the native species enjoying a less-computerized lifestyle compared to the walled cities of the Consortium. These cities are mostly comprised of Galactic Standard level tech, although the wealthier districts and the that of Aeros can be described as above-standard due to their access to premium quality resources.
As old as the Baal System itself, Conviction has been home to a multitude of species and events that have shaped it into the veritable paradise it is today. Once considered a mere bauble of fantasy by those viewing it from the distant world of Credence, Conviction quickly became the second home for those that managed to traverse the stars from the future shattered planet. Many of these early travelers quickly died due to wars with the natives, but peace talks were eventually settled some twenty years after colonization began. Those that continued to live on Conviction, fortunately, survived the destruction of their former homeworld and quickly integrated and prospered under their new peaceful surroundings.
As the years passed, the world developed further, but became shrouded in secrecy and never saw an outsider visit its lands until the Devil arrived - or returned, depending on how much is known of the man. Bringing with him an armada of loyal and conscripted followers on a blind quest of faith, Kascalion Giedfield began the revival of not only Conviction, but the Baal System as a whole.
Because it possessed such a vibrant and long-lasting ecosystem, Conviction quickly formed into the headquaters for the growing faction known as the Consortium which itself has gained the aid of the planet's native species, many of which were from the original eras of the world. From its lands comes forth an array of men and women fighting to spread the reach of the Devil and his unholy dogma.
