With war surging across the galaxy once again, Alderaan Engineering’s Medical Supplies division began looking at ways to reduce the number of battlefield injuries that progressed to result in deaths among armed forces and those caught between the clashing armies. One of the key factors was the wait from time of injury until medical aid could be provided to a soldier. While most carry a Medipac, very rarely does a soldier have time to open it and apply any of its contents to a wounded comrade during the heat of battle.
In an effort to counter this, AE designed the EMS device, which is effectively a portable Healing Field Generator with a medical diagnostic scanner and bacta injector built into its housing. The field is limited, emitting around a single person when active and usually only a centimeter above their clothes or armor as it envelops them. This easily created antiseptic field is primarily used to reduce the risk of infection on the battlefield and doesn’t need to be removed in order for the patient to receive medical attention from a Medic or doctor later as it will help keep the patient sterile during surgery and recovery.
The diagnostic scanner is designed to aid with triage, so that the scope of a patient's injuries are readily available to a nurse or medic tending to them and deciding order of care. The diagnostics is not perfect, unable to identify exact injuries but can locate lacerations, burns, contusions, and evidence of concussions, as well as general location for internal damage or organ damage on a patient. It is unable to diagnose diseases a patient may be suffering or the cause of any injuries, which may require more precise equipment.
Finally, the system contains a dose of concentrated bacta which it injects into the wearer’s bloodstream to immediately begin the healing process throughout the body. Not usually enough to save a patient, the immediate and simple application is meant to help until real medical care can be provided.
The device can be applied to a being anywhere on their person, simply sticking it to them and then activated by the single button on the device. Once activated it can be easily removed by medical personnel when necessary.

- Portable Healing Field Generator: The device, when activated, projects a Healing field around the person it is attached to, and only that person. Though objects are able to pass through the field, it works as an antiseptic to keep contaminants from the patient’s injuries and assist with the healing process in regards to minor injuries.
