Public En Passant

It had been years since Elicia had set foot in her home system. It wasn't an ecumenopolis like Coruscant, nor did it have the same grandeur, but Obulette did have its own certain charm. The familiar taste of the air, the bustling streets, it was all quite nostalgic. That nostalgia though was not long after undermined by reminders that this Obulette was not the Obulette of yesterday. The influence of the Sith had tainted her home, and subtle symbols of being within the clutches of the Confederacy were commonplace. It was almost as if the planet was trying to seem normal. It just wasn't.

One day, House Mecetti would make its return to the system. Some would say it had never left, but those ground in reality would accept that remnants did not make up the whole, nor did they represent it. Just as an imperial remnant couldn't flout itself as the empire, the same could be said for House Mecetti. Today, however, was not the day that it would make its return. The Confederacy's grip on the system still held, but it is for that exact reason that Elicia found herself back where she never thought she'd return in her lifetime.

Normally, she'd have to mind her presence given the high profile of those within the House's good graces. As it would turn out, the Hejaran family's prominence took a bit of a hit when their presence in the system waned. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing, however; there was little need to avoid crowds, as she walked the bustling city streets. Identifying and opening suitable locations for safehouses and weapons caches would require some degree of discretion.

It was because of the backing of larger powers in the galaxy that Elicia could take some of the first steps to formalizing her return to the Tapani sector. Those powers joined her on Obulette, and would continue to empower Elicia and House Mecetti so they could reassert themselves in the Tapani sector and thrust the Confederacy from their home. Such boldness have to come another time.

"Are you sure? All the requisitions have been processed already?", Elicia asked incredulously.

Maybe she'd be able to make a more permanent return home sooner than she thought.

"That is indeed what the data seems to indicate." he said, somewhat sarcastically. It wasn't really Elicia's fault that Arlan hadn't had a chance to grab his customary cup of caf before they'd hit the streets. Unfortunately for the man, numbers were what he excelled at. Sure, he was a good enough shot with a blaster pistol, he could pilot well enough, but it was the logistics where his genius really shone through. The Harpers were a significant name when it came to House Mecetti. Certainly not the most prestigious but they didn't need to be to succeed as they had. In fact, things were looking up for Arlan and his family name - despite appearances to the contrary. Given a little bit of luck and studious accounting, House Mecetti might just find themselves back in the game. "Of course, it wouldn't be unlike an Imperial to pull the rug out last second." he raised an eyebrow with a scowl. It had been a long time since House Mecetti had been of any real importance in the sector, the only benefit they had was that of anonymity - to an extent anyway. Existing as an independent entity unto themselves was out of the question, the Confederacy had seen to that as their influence spread across systems. Even so, they'd managed to cobble together several corporations and entities to form what amounted to a large holding company.

Security Forces, Consulting, Asset Management, to name a few. All owned by varying families of course but no less than the sum of their parts - all loyal to House Mecetti. "So. Where's our first stop?" Arlan said, eyes beginning to search for a tram or cab of some sort.

"Here, actually."

The spaceport would serve as a critical juncture and launch point. It is the first place people see when they arrive, and it is the last they visit before departing. Being in such a well-traveled transit corridor posed some risk of discovery, but Elicia was confident that it would elude detection. Safehouses were meant to be accessible at will, not draw the intrigue of the public. Moreover, such a location would enable personnel to quickly arm themselves for the conflict to come. She stopped briefly to mark the location on her datapad. They would have someone take care of the logistics later - it was the geography they were interested in.

"We'll need a few more...I'm thinking city square, near Confederacy assets, and perhaps a couple contingency points. I'm not sure we'll have the manpower to form an effective citywide perimeter, but so long as we control the necessary infrastructure we very well may be alright."
