En never really knew her father. From what memories she held of him, all she remembered was... Warmth.
Her mother was warm for a while. Her belly grew, and En could feel more warmth inside of her. A little brother. And soon, he came into the world. A little warm bundle that her warm mother held close to her.
But her warm brother started to cough. He coughed harder and longer. Then he stopped one day.
En's mother lost her warmth that day. She became as cold as winter. Cold mother didn't like En. She would hit her until her skin was purple and blue.
Eventually En decided that she needed to make her mother warm again. The purple and the blue hurt, and made it hard for her to sleep. So, one afternoon, En took a knife from the kitchen. She stabbed her cold mother's legs as she tried to run. She took her mother's hair in her hand and used it to pull her down the stairs and into the backyard.
There was a smokehouse that they used to have meat ready for winter. A large furnace kept it warm. The perfect place.
En opened the large metal door of the furnace and dragged her mother inside. She placed her on the bright orange coals and closed the door behind her. A little window in the door let her watch her mother's clothes light with fire. First her clothes, then her hair, then her skin...
En was wearing no shoes as she walked through the snow. Red footprints followed behind her. Red splatters on her clothes and her skin.
She walked all the way into town. The police found out what happened fairly quickly. She made no attempt to hide what she'd done. she didn't seem distraught or angry or even happy. Deciding that she was a threat, En was placed in a facility for children with mental disorders.
The children learned of En's past rather quickly. They all became very afraid of her, leaving her to herself. En didn't mind. She took her medicine. She went to her treatments. She cooperated with her therapists. As far as anyone was concerned, she was a very well-behaved and calm girl. There was no real need to avoid her.
The subject of her release was still under debate, however.
