SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Borrows designs from original Jedi Beacon tech
  • "latches" to strongest comm signal and "hides" behind it (for example, an encrypted Jedi Beacon can send out a message buried in the stronger broadcast "hiding" it from those who might not necessarily aware where to look.
STRENGTHS
  • WELL HIDDEN... - If you don't know it's there, you won't find it.
WEAKNESSES
  • RELIES TOO MUCH ON STRONGER BROADCASTS - If there is no "PSA" or military base nearby, it is difficult to "latch" to their broadcast signal, leaving someone looking for your comms able to be found if you are looking hard enough.
DESCRIPTION
The Jedi beacon was a communication system used by the Jedi Order. It allowed the Jedi Council to near-instantaneously contact all Jedi throughout the galaxy, without relying on the HoloNet. The Council could program a mass signal broadcast, or a single message to one ship. It was housed in the central security station in the Jedi Temple. In addition to the Temple's computer, each ship carried a small computer capable of sending out messages to other Jedi in the field. One possible message was Return-to-Coruscant, an audio signal consisting of a series of accelerating beeps. It was intended to signal the end of the Clone Wars and order all Jedi in the galaxy to return to the Temple.

This model is no different, only adding the encrypted capability, now the device can log into the holonet and hide under other mass communications.
