OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION[/FONT]
With the establishment of the Rimward Merchant-Marine, Rimward Rescue Service, and the Articles, the shipbuilders in the Rimward Trade League realized there was a market for ships designed to League regulations for ease of use in crew training, cargo stowage, and all other essential functions of a vessel, especially for sale to the medium-large shipping companies who desired (and had the currency) for a standardized merchant-fleet. While free traders and smaller outfits tended to rely on light freighters or second-and-third-hand larger vessels, the shipping houses of Svivren, for one example, had the reliable cashflow to commission ships and purchase orders in bulk.
As a result, several smaller firms worked together through the Outer Rim Manufacturing Union to design a new series of ships, beginning with a medium freighter, for the midrange market. Based on its successes, they planned on expanding into heavy freighters, bulk freighters, and container carriers. As a result, their first design was the Endeavour-class medium freighter. Aesthetically pulling from the streamlined, utilitarian vessels of the Rimward Rescue Service, it was a striking contrast to the blocks, cubes, and circular designs of the Corellian manufacturers. It used a patented system for securing cargo, based on the cargo container types listed in the Articles, making it easily adapted anywhere the League had influence. But otherwise, it was a stock standard medium freighter.
It could carry 20,000 metric tons of cargo, depending on container type, with smaller container types being more space efficient. It had a decent number of compartments for crew and officers, with barrack bunks for all save the ship's officers, with a typical crew complement of thirty, with approximately six officers and twenty-four enlisted, allowing for three standard watches to be manned at all times across all departments, as per League regulations on a vessel of this size. The ship has a full galley, frozen food storage, a small sauna and gym, an entertainment center, a common room, and a medium-sized environmental control center utilizing hydroponics and algae to lessen the need to purchase stores.
Otherwise, the Endeavour class is comfortable if practically furnished and designed.
