DESCRIPTION
During the invasion of Eshan by the CIS seeking to free the planet from under the rule of the Mandalorian Empire, Derek was greviously injured. Right arm severed which took off his shoulder as well as tearing mercilessly through his torso required emergency surgery. Several ribs were also destroyed.
Derek was faced with a choice. Utilize cloning technology to replace his injuries with compatible tissue or choose a cybernetic route. Utilizing clone texh would require waiting for replacement tissue to be vat grown, leaving him unable to perform his duties as Viceroy for the Confederacy or as President of the USC until such time as the replacement were ready. Or move forward with cybernetic replacements which would allow him a speedier recovery and return to his responsibilities.
He chose cybernetics.
Yet before he received his cybernetic arm he had other enhancement suites installed to accommodate his new appendage. A strengthened cardiovascular system, enforced musculature, and implant armor. Included was also a pain dampener. Yet mindful of the 'invincible' syndrome that affected those that had such cybernetic implants he chose to retain his heart, as well as to retain his own perception of his own mortality.
