Enlightenment Quantum Communicator Stage 2

Enlightenment Quantum Communications Stage 1 was a fantastic achievement and success for Firemane. The ability to transmit messages instantly to a location without any chance of interception was a massive boon. However, it was only the beginning, and where Stage 1 had been a useful means of communication, Stage 2 would be a more efficient means of using that.
Technological miniaturisation meant that the key component of the Enlightenment could be shrunk down to be contained within a device some 30cm cubed. A lot of the weight was made by the power cells which were a necessity in order to maintain constant supply. This device can be carried, though the weight (about 30kg) makes prolonged treks undesirable, but more often it is placed in a vehicle, either ground, space or water.
The ability to transmit more than plain text has not yet been perfected, limiting it to simple writing.
The ability to make Enlightenment portable makes it hugely more effective. For example a recon ship can investigate an area without risking a capital ship, or a recon group can provide data which cannot be blocked.
Linking in with the miniaturisation of the transmitter, the reception units at the hubs have also decreased in size too. By mounting the entangled pairs more efficiently, a single bank can relay messages to operators with a much reduced bottleneck.
Of course, the core limitations of Enlightenment Stage One Remain, with some others additional. Making the device more portable makes it more vulnerable to damage or capture. Despite anti-tamper, losing an Enlightenment Stage 2 could be devastating for the data it contains and the secrets it maintains.

- Able to transmit a text based message instantly between two points instantly, with no latency. This message cannot be blocked, scanned, disrupted or jammed by any means.

- Fragile. Stage 2 is much more fragile than the solid consoles of Stage 1. Ion blasts or even regular damage can quickly disable one if given the chance.
- Capture. More portable units are certainly useful, but they come with the risk of being portable enough to be captured. Though there is an anti-tamper mechanism it is much easier for these devices to be captured and the saved messages sliced.
