The Maekrix

Work had been underway for a few months now, but finally his new ship was complete. The Maekrix, which stood for “leader” in a language he had stumbled on during a mission, was a new, improved equivalent to The Final Dragon. It was much, much bigger; to the point that it’s docking bay was able to hold not just The Final Dragon but many ships more on top of it. The Dragon was aboard now, to be used as a smaller ship for more covert missions. But it was mainly designed to function as a home and training facility for Josh and those that accompanied him as well as his students. Everything was bigger and more meant to house others in comparison to the old ship being designed more for an occupant and sometimes a guest. The facilities were improved on and he had put in everything he could to make it the ultimate training and recreational facility while going to and from missions.

And there was a hot tub. Something that caught the attention of his closer friends [member="Riamah"], [member="Scherezade deWinter"] and [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]. So of course the offer was given to come aboard, take a soak and then have a tour. Not to mention all four were familiar with each other but time to talk between some of them had been sparse. It was a good chance to catch up. The four of them had been on a few missions together, but Force knows a bit of recreation time could lead to a bit of proper team building for next time.

As far as the tour was concerned... Considering during many of his missions, his partner was either Ra or Madalena, and Asaraa had requested to continuing working and training with him... This ship would likely become about as much of a home to the three ladies as it was to Josh.

Much had changed in the time since their last meeting. With Jyoti disappearing, through his duties as Master Of The Order; Josh had taken up leadership in her stead and had been busy. Asaraa was now a Knight, Ra was dealing with her issues regarding her control, and Madalena… Force knows.

The trio were welcomed aboard, and a droid would direct them to where Josh would be found in the recreation room, going over files. Upon their arrival, he’d smile and put the files down.

"What do you guys think of the new place?"

[member="Josh DragonsFlame"]

"I like your ship better," Madalena answered with all honesty, "it felt more… Personal." She looked at her best friend and smiled, "but I'm sure with time this joint will look like that too. Especially when you start not cleaning up after yourself."

True to her nature, she had screamed with excitement when Josh invited her to come and see the place, and mostly, its hot tub. She hadn't even bothered putting any of her lovely dresses or skin tight leather suits on for the event, opting instead to just show up in a bathing suit from the get go, walking round like it was as comfortable as sweat pants.

Of course, knives were still strapped to her thighs and upper arms. Madalena rarely went anywhere without at least a few of them. But as her usual combat boots had been swapped for flip flops, there was no hiding knives inside of those.

She flashed huge grins at [member="Riamah"] and [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] before taking a few more steps into the new place.

"Josh, hot tub!" she grinned, "now!"

Their arrival was expected and somehow the three women managed to do it at the same time. Shaking her head slightly in amusement, Ra boarded the new ship that had been created for Josh, she followed the directions the droid gave. Wondering almost absentmindedly how well Josh treated his droids, she kept quiet and would ask about it later.

She had worked for several years now with what were called "free droids", she almost gave more thought to them than she did organics at times. They were far more than mere tools or slaves and many people forgot that. Drones were different, but Ra didn't think these were.

Carrying a bag, it had everything she felt she was going to need for the next few days. Not having any clear idea how long they were all going to be together, she figured it best to bring extra items along. And similar to Madalena, she also wore her weapons. Only two could be seen though and she was fully clothed. Her others were hidden in her boots and up her sleeves. It wasn't that she didn't trust these people, it was who ever else they might come across.

"It's a ship? You know these things don't really matter much to me as long as they accomplish their job."

[member="Scherezade deWinter"] [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

"Oh, I wouldn't be so sure about that," the pink-haired Jedi pointed out, spinning around lightly on one sandal-clad foot to grin at [member="Riamah"], "I mean, there's a whole world of difference between a junk freighter and a luxury yacht after all. There's getting from A to B," Asaraa hopped forward, her arms stretching out around her as she launcher herself into a dancer's sip, the fabric of her dress flaring out for a moment as she grinned brightly at the others. "This is very much not a tramp freighter."

She took a few steps ahead of the group, her fingers trailing along the wall, the digits of her hand tapping a quiet beat as they slid along the surface. "You know, with somewhere as nice as this...just please tell me you're not planning to move in here or I'm straight up going to teach Jason how to use stink bombs to smoke you out of here."

[member="Riamah"] | [member="Scherezade deWinter"] | [member="Josh DragonsFlame"]

Ra didn't seem to care much about the question. Madalena liked the old one better, and Asaraa would ask him not to move into here, which made him chuckle a bit. "There's something about Kashyyyk's atmosphere that makes me just fine to live in the treehouse. Though this will be a great training facility. And place to prepare for missions en-route to the destination" Josh would remark.

"And I'm sure before long it'll look like home-"

He stopped when he saw that [member="Scherezade deWinter"] was already in her bathing suit. Soon after, she cried out to get to the hot tub here and now. The Jedi would squint at her for a moment before shrugging his shoulders.

"I suppose the tour can wait" He spoke, as he would stretch out and begin to motion the ladies along. Droids passed by them, making chattering noises as they served functions from cleaning to maintenance as it seemed that the Jedi Master had been busy in his spare time. He'd built them all himself, after all. There were cleaning droids, maintenance droids, there was an HK unit patrolling that [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] and [member="Scherezade deWinter"] would recognize from prior missions. And of course directing traffic to some of the droids was the R4 unit that [member="Riamah"] would recognize from the times that she'd flown on the ship with Josh, as R4-J6 had been their pilot much of the time.

Soon, they came to a large room that had several showers, a bathing area, and finally, of course the hot tub. There were some areas for changing, as the ship had seemingly been designed with a crew in mind.

"The changing areas are over there" He remarked calmly as he would walk over to the hot tub and start configuring the settings. He needed to actually test the damn thing anyway, so this was a good opportunity. Breaking it in, right? And it it broke, well, he had three extra hands to help him fix it!

Madalena did not recognize the HK droid. The person who had been on that mission had been a girl that no longer existed, and that girl had not thought to put that droid in the fabricated memories she'd created for the one that would be taking her place. The smile on her face remained ever so pleasant though as she waited patiently for all the small talk to finish already. She knew what she wanted. Oh yes, the Sithling knew exactly what she wanted.

Once inside the large room, Madalena ran forward before Josh finished speaking his sentence. She jumped into the air, flipping, and then a second before landing in the water – stopped herself mid-air. This was a hot tub, not a swimming pool.

Grinning, the Sith woman lowered herself gently into the water, the smile on her fce hard to mistake for anything other than pure bliss.

[member="Josh DragonsFlame"] [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] [member="Riamah"]

"Very true, Asaraa. I am just used to being on large merchant ships or my own small freighter. Never needed anything fancy like a yacht. Maybe I should look into getting an upgrade?"

There was a touch of humor in her voice and in her eyes. Having spent a good deal of time with Asaraa, Josh and Madalena, she was more open to showing emotion around them. Instead of being a stick in the mud businesswoman, she was going to start letting herself be who she wanted around these people. Hopefully it would be that much more clear to them.

She lifted an eyebrow at the banter between the others, still not entirely fitting in, but trying to.

The crew, Ra didn't know, but would ask Josh about his droids when the opportunity presented itself. Looking in the direction he motioned for the changing rooms, she nodded and watched as Madalena lowered herself into the water. A clear showing off of her Force ability, Ra just shook her head and set her bag down. Not seeing any reason to show off, she would gather what she needed and head off to change.

[member="Scherezade deWinter"] [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

While perhaps not as eager to just jump into the hot tub as Madalena, she certainly wasn't going to walk around in just he swimwear, to say Asaraa was excited about the chance to enjoy the hot tub would have been an understatement. Where [member="Riamah"] chose to make her way to change at a normal pace the girl had to restrain herself from charging off herself. Instead, she forced herself to stand still, her gaze resting on the hot tub for a moment before she grinned at [member="Josh DragonsFlame"], "Somehow I knew you'd end with something like this on your ship Master." Knighted she might have been, but it felt odd to realize she could call Josh by his given name...she'd have to try it sometime. "You know, I might have to get something like this installed on my ship."

With a grin Asaraa gave in to the urge she'd been fighting, flicking her bag over her shoulder as she practically bounced down the hall like a speeder, practically bouncing off the walls. She'd been here before, and finding a room to drop her bag off to get changed wasn't much of a challenge for the pink-haired one as she bounced back down the hall in her swim wear, taking a running jump to flip over in the air, performing a graceful dive into the tub. Things could have gone badly from there, a pool the hot tub was not after all, and Asaraa could have hurt herself if she hadn't caught herself in the force, slowly rotating herself and lowering herself into the water across from Madalena. "Oh, that's nice."

[member="Riamah"] | [member="Scherezade deWinter"] | [member="Josh DragonsFlame"]

Josh would watch as Madalena would first dive into the hot tub. "It's not deep enough for-Oh forget it" He responded, letting out a sigh. "With the level of training I go through nowadays, having a bit of a muscle relaxer in the form of a hot tub I figured might be a good strategic choice" Josh would explain to Asaraa when she would make her usual comments.

"Also, you don't have to call me Master anymore, Asaraa" Josh would reminder his former apprentice, doing his best to ignore the hot water on the floor from the antics of the sith as he would begin making his way toward the changing rooms. Though he would stop and turn back again when he heard a splash, as Asaraa would also go ahead and dive in. Were he and Ra the only sane ones here? It was starting to look like it.

Once he had changed into swim trunks in the changing room, the Jedi would walk out and gingerly walk toward the hot tub. Bringing himself in, he would lower himself into the water, letting out a deep breath as he would submerge first his lower body, then his upper until he was about to his neck in water.

"Whew..."

[member="Asaraa Vaashe"] [member="Scherezade deWinter"] [member="Riamah"]

What was certain as that no one had been as much in a hurry to get into the water as she had been. Madalena got to enjoy the hot tub entirely for herself for a few moments before the others began to join. She grinned to each person in turn, letting the warm water and the bubbles relax every single muscle she had. It was good to be in a hot tub.

No one was addressing her directly during any of this, and she didn't see a reason to force herself into the conversations the others were either having or not having at that point. Instead, Madalena let herself sink another inch or two into the water, her smile leaving no room to wonder just how much she was enjoying this.

[member="Josh DragonsFlame"] [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] [member="Riamah"]

Asaraa dashed past her as she was on her way to one of the rooms. Shaking her head at the apparent foolishness of youth, Ra kept her mouth and thoughts to herself. Not dawdling around in changing though, she quickly put on her two piece suit...having a tail now prevented her from wearing anything else. It stuck out the back of the towel she wrapped around herself and joined the others.

If they asked it was a bit of a long story, but there wasn't a way to keep it hidden and no purpose to it. The fur matched her hair and looked like a typical, fluffy fox tail. Setting the towel down on a chair, she also climbed into the water slowly. It was going to take hours for that tail to dry when they got out and for a while a it would look just soggy.

"This is a nice and unexpected change from a normal mission type ship. What made you think to include it?"

Sitting on a ledge at the side of tub, she looked between the other three before focusing on Josh.

[member="Scherezade deWinter"] [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

The warm water was so relaxing the young Jedi found herself content to just float there, relaxing as she felt the heat seeping into her flesh, her eyes closing for a moment as a soft sound of happiness escaped from her lips. Eyes still closed the girl raised one hand out of the water, the liquid dripping off her arm as she waved in Josh's direction, droplets flying out at him, a small push in the force generating a small wave that hit the man in the chest as Asaraa's lips curled up into a smile. "You know how it is, once a master, always the master...at least until I defeat you." One blue eye cracked open, "It'll happen one day...count on it."

The girl's eye flicked over at the other two women, lingering on Riamah's tail for a moment before she closed it again. It was, maybe not the most unusual thing she'd ever seen, but it certainly ranked up there. Since no-one else was commenting on it she wouldn't say anything but still, "I dunno, this seems like just the thing to include on a training ship, the best way to relax after any kinda physical training...as long as you don't stay in so long you turn into a prune."

[member="Riamah"] | [member="Scherezade deWinter"] | [member="Josh DragonsFlame"]

Now that the lot of them were in the hot tub, the Jedi Master would allow himself to sink downwards for a minute, letting his sore muscles unwind as he adjusted to the water temperature. He hadn't had a chance to use this yet, to be honest. He just hadn't gotten around to it. He figured if he was going to test it out, he would do so with a lot that he could trust. Might as well stress test it in full, right? Better to iron out any potential problems right out of the gate with people that would easily be able to identify them, and perhaps identify things he wouldn't. Which was why he had brought it up when describing the ship originally.

[member="Riamah"] would ask what motivated him to build this in his ship. While he'd gotten into it a bit earlier, he would open his eyes and look toward her as he decided to respond by elaborating a bit further.

"First of all, this ship's more meant to be a home and training facility between missions when I'm traveling, not just serve for transportation" Josh would correct quickly. "As for the hot tub... Honestly, I was hoping that with it, I would be able to push myself further" He would begin, taking a deep breath as steam emitted from his mouth and nose, allowing himself to just talk off the cuff without much thought, letting his words fly as he spoke without worries. It was a sign that his body and mind were beginning to relax and he was just speaking what first came to mind from there. "I enjoy pushing myself further and further when I am training, but doing so takes a serious physical and mental toll on me. Even with bacta technology at my disposal, my body still isn't going to run at it's best afterwords, there is a lot of built up muscle tension and soreness that will restrict my movements and provide nagging pains. Not to mention the mental strains, going through something like that on the constant. A hot tub, now that I have the room for it with this ship... Water prepared in this matter for the sake of bathing is capable of relieving some of that tension, and reducing the soreness that remains even after bacta treatments. And bathing in it also relaxes the mind, reducing stresses for a little while. It provides me the capability of a relaxing bit of sanctuary when I'm dealing with stresses either from training or everything else that is on my plate, giving my body and mind a little break if it's needed.

With this, like I said, I'm hoping I might be able to push the capabilities of myself and my students a little bit further. That was more or less the motivation for adding this when I was considering ideas for a proper training facility."

He shrugged his shoulders. "That, and I enjoy it. So that's a bonus."

With that explanation out of the way, the words of [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] made him smirk slightly. "Don't make me tickle you" Josh warned, chuckling a bit. "We'll see" He spoke, addressing her words proper. "Now that I'm intent on pushing myself more and more, you might have to work harder to keep up" He teased, firing her a playful wink in response. In a way, it was his method to motivate his former apprentice to push herself harder as well. It would be for the best for the Jedi for new Knights like Asaraa to step up to the plate.

"So what have the three of you been up to as of late? Any exciting missions, or new developments?" He inquired. It'd been a bit since the lot had been able to get a chance to get together like this in awhile, after all.

[member="Scherezade deWinter"]

As Josh explained about the hot tub, the ship, and all of that, Madalena let herself sink yet another few inches into the warm water, until her nostrils were barely a few millimeters above water level. Her eyes closed, she stifled a moan at how wonderful this felt. The hot tub was definitely a smart choice. She was going to compliment him on it at some point later on, and probably sneak Jason in there with a bottle of soap bubbles in a few months, when Josh forgot all about it. The corners of her mouth curled into a wicked little smile beneath the water.

It was only when Josh asked what the others had been up to that her eyes opened and she straightened up, allowing a few more inches to come above water.

"I atmo-dived," she grinned, "dropships were malfunctioning and I had to get something planet-side. So I found a suit and I jumped through and went through atmosphere. Almost died. It was fun! I do not recommend though."

[member="Josh DragonsFlame"] [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] [member="Riamah"]

With a simple lift of an eyebrow and small tilt of her head, she gave only that minor reaction to what Asaraa said about having this on a ship. Her points were logical and accurate though and Josh agreed with her. He also elaborated on a few other points. Giving him a half smile when he said it was something he enjoyed, she couldn't help but agree with him.

Only recently had Ra been out and active on missions. Those had been with Josh or the small group he had gathered which also included Madalena and Asaraa. Prior to that, she had been pretty much just a simple merchant with very little excitement. Of course, her growing movement had done a few things, but she hadn't been involved in the front lines.

Shaking her head, she would allow Madalena to answer his question first. Some people lived for excitement, but while it was nice once in a while she was not that kind of person. Giving no real reaction to her words, she went to speak of her own and then changed her mind. Josh would know exactly what she had been up to and there was no reason to say to the others what they had been through.

She turned to Asaraa to see if she had anything to say but remained quiet. Ra wasn't one to speak unless she had to and she did not need to right now.

[member="Scherezade deWinter"] [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

"What's new? Well let's see, you did go and singe off some of my hair, so I've had to wait a while to let it grow out again," the girl smirked at Josh as one hand came up, curling a strand of hair around one finger, a strand of hair that used to be bound up in a Padawan's braid. She would have said that she wouldn't cut off her padawan's braid when the time came but it was a time honoured tradition and she wasn't going to take that away from her hypothetical padawan....if such a person ever came into existence. Which she didn't think would be any time soon, not if life kept her this busy and gave her this much opportunity to run away from responsibility, not that she was complaining, the very idea of being responsible for someone like that absolutely terrified her.

"Other than that, not too much really. I've been chasing down this one missing person case that someone brought to us. The trail looks like it's heading towards Nar Shadaa so, I'm thinking about taking a spin over in that direction and see what I can figure out there. Other than that, you know, just been relaxing and trying not to see too many things on fire." Life had actually been quiet, perhaps too quiet for the girl recently, and she was starting to get a suspicion that things were going too well now between Yuroic getting his memory back Caedyn and being promoted to a Knight, and things were building up to something very bad. "Atmo-diving sounds like fun...can we go try that?"

[member="Riamah"] | [member="Scherezade deWinter"] | [member="Josh DragonsFlame"]

"Your hair grows back like weeds, you'll be fine" Josh pointed out immediately toward [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] with a laugh. If she hadn't wanted him to actually cut her hair in the process of cutting off her Padawan braid, she should have said something and he would have gotten her extensions for the ceremony. He had for [member="Dusaro Dresari"] after all, who just... Didn't really have much hair. Nowhere near enough to put in a braid. In hindsight the whole Padawan braid tradition was a little outdated considering not all Jedi had long hair as he did that could easily be wrapped or put in a braid.

Speaking of hair, a notable change for Josh compared to what Asaraa was used to was the lack of his hair being wrapped or tied back in any fashion. On the ship, with people he was comfortable with, he didn't undergo his usual tradition for business casual. Instead, golden blonde locks flowed down to his shoulders, floating about in the water around him. Thank the Force for drainage systems.

"Nar Shadda, huh" Josh responded when Asaraa gave her briefing on matters there. "I've only been there once since the Republic invasion way back when. I met this one gal who's apparently immortal or something. Real grump, that one. Didn't like me much."

Josh scrunches up his face and speaks in a shrill, witch-like voice.

"ERMAGERD, IT'S NOT WORTH HAVING FRIENDS WHEN THEY ALL DIEEEEEE! I'D RATHER TREAT EVERYONE LIKE POO AND BE MISERABLE BY MYSELF WHILE DOING NOTHING WITH MY LIFE, THAN ACTUALLY BE USEFUL WHILE MAKING SOME FRIENDS, REEEEE!"

Josh took a deep breath.

"I mean, don't get me wrong. I sympathize with the idea of living forever and seeing one's friends and loved ones come and go. And I get that not everyone can handle that. But they seemed like they were content to just waste away while disregarding everyone around, and by disregarding, I mean going out of their way to make other people miserable around them. Just.. Doesn't seem like the best way to go about it. Grief is grief, I've lost a fiance and a wife on the field of battle. It's part of life for me, and it will be for the rest of my life no matter how long that life ends up being. It's just one of those things you have to... Well, not get over, but accept that it's going to happen.

Either way, if you know me well enough to know how I respond to things and how I tend to respond to that sort of miserable-ness with sass of my own... I think it's pretty obvious why we didn't get on like a peanut butter cup."

He shrugged his shoulders. He always had stories to trade with people, if they were inclined. This was just one.

Though Asaraa and [member="Scherezade deWinter"] had both talked about something he wasn't familiar with. "I'm not familiar with this atmo-diving" Josh would admit. "What is that, exactly?"

[member="Riamah"] had been silent sitting beside him, and he looked toward her with a playful look that indicated if she didn't say something soon, he'd give her a reason to.

"There are ways to make the hair grow faster with the Force," Madalena chipped in, offering advice that no one had actually asked of her, "should be easier for Jedi than for others. Hair grows from roots which puts it under the domain of how Plant Surge works, as I understand it. There are also medical treatments to make it happen if you want longer and thicker tresses."

Looking at Josh as his voice cap-locked, Madalena giggled and then let her head sink below water-levels. She didn't know how to swim, but there was no swimming required in this giant tub. All she wanted, and received, was the stillness that happened beneath the waters, with all the sounds from above being muffled for the time being.

She came back up just to hear Josh's question about atmo-dipping.

"It's when you jump from orbit and go planet-side without a pod or a ship," she explained, "free falling, sort of. I had a protective suit and I pulled a Barrier up, and I had the Minister of Science with me. It was… Hard. Had to keep her alive too. The result was that between trying to control the free fall, trying to land, and trying to prioritize her survival, I landed badly. Really badly. Broke half the side of my body, punctured my lungs… They gave me crap so I wouldn't feel it but then I got speared by a rabid droid. The healing process was a pain. Most advanced medical equipment in the 'verse and the Force, and it still took a week before I could stand up on my own."

[member="Josh DragonsFlame"] [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] [member="Riamah"]

Traditions were different within each order and the padawan braid was one. Then again Ra hadn't grown up in exactly a conventional manner and had been on a world that was cut off from the rest of the galaxy. How her master had brought her up was as a sith, but more equal to what Darth Bane had wanted. It was just the two of them and he was the growing power when he died in front of her.

So her own training might not have been what was expected from Sith training. Further training had been given to her when she was a member of the current Sith Empire led by Carnifex by the Assassins. This had helped turn her into the woman she was. Far harsher training than she had gotten from her master. But it had gotten the job done just the same and she could slink in pretty much anywhere even if she didn't have her suit on.

Listening as Asaraa continued on about what she was up to, the Nar Shadda comment brought a curious look.

"If you need any help, I have connections there or I could join you if you wanted."

It wasn't much that she said, but it was something. Listening to th story Josh told, she shook her.

"I just hope I don't become that way..."

Something that hadn't ever come up in their conversations. She was now almost immortal. Her race lived 1000s of years and in addition to that, Ra knew of Essense Transfer. If it came to dying in this body, she could move to another.

When Josh asked Madalena was atmo-diving was, she almost provided an answer for her. Instead, the other woman did it which was just fine and Ra fell silent again. Shaking her head slightly, she knew of various ways those injuries could have been avoided. Maybe Madalena wasn't as good with the Force as Ra thought she was.

[member="Scherezade deWinter"] [member="Josh DragonsFlame"] [member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

Asaraa's lips curled up into a smile as she sank lower into the tub, the warm water splashing up around her shoulders, pink hair floating out behind her like a cloak spreading out across the surface of the water. The young Jedi nodded in Madalena's direction, "I think the only times I've ever done that I've been a lot lower than you were. Mostly just off the roof of the rest," she shot a guilty look at Josh, "and once off a low-level shuttle onto a moving train. I brought a repulsor pack but you know," the curl of her lips took on a decidedly mischevious look, "I had a new partner and you have to show off to them just a little bit don't you?" Asaraa's teeth bared in a grin, "I managed to make it down to the train pretty ok, hop skip and a jump you know, but my new partner wasn't so lucky." Was feeling happy about that a good Jedi trait? No, probably not but it was very human to feel satisfaction at being able to do a job other people couldn't, that little spark of satisfaction. Asaraa didn't think smothering that, hiding from that feeling was the greatest thing to do wither, denying her humanity. "The rest of the mission went pretty well after that...well you know, as well as it can anway."

The girl pushed herself up again, damp hair clinging to her back as she glanced around before she grinned at Josh, "You know you should totally get someone to install some holo-panels in here, make it look list some tropical environment with a butler droid with the drinks..." She sat upright as the light of amusement danced in her eyes, water droplets scattering as she turned to face the man. "Or..or..or...we could get HK and dress him up in a tuxedo with a bowtie and everything! Can we do that? Pleaaaaaase, I mean can you imagine his reaction?"
