The Epochan Engineering Corporation was founded by the Fossk Royal Family near the end of Gulag Plague to consolidate all of the shipbuilding efforts by various companies for the defense of Epoch under one roof for use by the Epochan Navy. With the discovery of unrefined fuel in the Erebus Ring asteroid belt, focus was directed with the creation of refineries to gain a monopoly over the region and acquire massive amounts of capital for the system. The company was an astounding success, handling the day to day running of Epoch's various refining operations and mining structures as focus shifted to the new industry. Construction of starships slowed to a crawl and the Epochan Navy began to rely on outside contracting until the hostile takeover by the One Sith.
Ousting the royalty, an oligarchy was established with the noble families accumulating power over both government and control over the company itself. Production ramped up for both mining operations and starship construction in order to fuel the One Sith war machine. Research and development of new starship designs led to a break through in quality work for the vessels emerging from the shipyards. Everything began to run as an efficient machine in itself until the fall of the One Sith and rebellion against the ruling oligarchy. A constitutional monarchy was established and the company went public, spreading to other star systems throughout the Galactic Alliance over time.
The motto of the Epochan Engineering Company is "for a better galaxy", a saying that is reflected in the hardworking Epochan people in striving to build a better future. Quality is no laughing matter for the EEC, the company strives on it's good reputation from it's incredible products.
RATIONALE
The Epoch Engineering Corporation has long been property of the royal family of Epoch since the founding of the company. With the turbulent upheaval of the royal family and installation of the oligarchs, power was relinquished from royal hands to those of the noble families. When the One Sith fell, so too did the oligarchy begin to crumble, a play was made and the company went public.
The show of good faith and transfer of power away spared the company another violent transition, in the dark however the shares were privately gobbled up by the ultra-rich connected to the former oligarchs. Nothing really changed aside from a public show to save face, in reality the former oligarchs still maintained power over Epoch's fuel and shipbuilding industries, thus controlling it's prime interests.
Everything changed with the arrival of
Darth Solipsis
, board members vanished overnight and others simply resigned in favor of new 'more agreeable' candidates to take charge. In reality, the Epochan Sith Lord had taken control over the company with his powerful command over the Force. Seeding the Board of Directors with former One Sith conspirators among the former oligarchs and Sith cultists, the company was directed with beginning preparations for the creation of a large fleet for forces unknown and seizing control over the planetary government through any means necessary.
