STRENGTHS
  • Sensor Mask. The Equinox II used Stygium stealth technology to mask it's energy signature, making it difficult to detect by standard com-scan systems.
  • False Transponder. The Equinox II had false transponder codes loaded onto it, allowing it to attempt bypassing most methods of border identification. These included the Pearl of Yavin, Moldy Mynock, and Fang of Goug.
  • Fast Ship. Responsive and maneuverable, the Equinox II had a flight profile that more closely resembled a heavy starfighter than it did a freighter.
  • Kid Friendly. This thing is basically a tree house that can make the jump to lightspeed.
WEAKNESSES
  • Lightly Armed. The Equinox II demonstrates all the shortcomings of an ambush predator, opting for speed and the element of surprise over heavy weapons emplacement. This ship is designed for evasion, not stand and fight tactics.
  • Can't Fire While Cloaked. In order to regulate and control the ship's electromagnetic power signature, the weapons are disabled while the sensor mask is in operation.
  • Magnetic Personality. Stygium-based cloaking systems are still vulnerable to detection due to the magnetic characteristics of the durasteel construction.
  • Restricted Manuevering. The Equinox II design emphasized outrunning and outmanuevering potential threats. In areas in which the navigatable space is limited (asteroid fields, major star ports, etc) the ship was disadvantaged against larger or more heavily armed opponents. Tractor beams being the most severe form of this.
  • This Kid Voids Warranties. Arguably the biggest weakness was the fact that the ship's regular mechanic was a 13 year old Pantoran boy, for whom voiding warranties is a second vocation for him. Use that modded hyperdrive at your own risk.
DESCRIPTION
The second ship to bear the name, the Equinox II was a Corellian HWK-1000 that had been heavily modified by the Hutts in order to be useful in various smuggling operations across the Mara-Perlemian Trade Corridor. Boo had first encountered the ship, then known as the Pearl of Yavin, while still with the Primeval, during the period in which he served the Host Lord as the Primeval's ambassador to the Hutt Cartel.

Following his adoption into the Heavenshield family and acceptance into the Midvinter Jedi of the Dawnguard, Boo felt as though his Sith Infiltrator was no longer an appropriate mode of conveyance, being the last remnant of his former life with the One Sith and the Primeval. As it happened, as he was starting to look at the market for used ships, the Pearl of Yavin popped up at an auction as a result of having been confiscated by the Sector Rangers.

Re-christened as the Equinox II, the present (more Jedi friendly) design betrays hints of the fact that the boy is reformed but not quite tamed -- such as the false transponder that can identify the ship as either the Fang of Goug or the Moldy Mynock, with phony registrations tied to Bespin or Kashyyyk stemming from the boy's past connections with those places.
