The ER-7 Elemental Rifle from Tampson Consolidated was designed for explorers who must operate in unknown and exotic environments where bizarre alien predators might descend upon them. It was designed to emit various damage types so that alien beasts resistant to one or more elements might still be confronted successfully. The rifle also has a vidsensor in the scope, allowing images of dangerous animals to be transmitted to a ship, fellow explorer, or even the user's own helmet head's up display. The rifle is long-ranged and powerful, but is also somewhat large and heavy, negatively impacting its popularity despite its other advantages. The amount of cryoban and fuel wasted when the magazine must be swapped out due to energy depletion also causes consternation to those who are cost conscious.
