"My mind is flint-sharp. It is capable of seeing all the suffering of the waking world, just as it is sure to remember the Eremite's precepts on torment—"
The Eremite Anchorites are a secluded and religious organization of anchorites that operated on the planet Jakku. They believed that suffering was the basis of life, and were aligned with the light side of the Force. They had bound themselves to the Jakku Jedi Enclave, like members of their organization bound themselves to the Jedi Order over several thousand years ago. By the time of 864 ABY, the sect's influence was limited, even on their native world of Jakku, with their numbers being scattered amongst small groups throughout the Valley of the Eremite. The Jakku Jedi enclave, as a result of the Eremitian Promise, co-existed and formed close relations with the religious organization; they went on to share the Valley. After the siege of the Jakku Jedi Enclave, many of the small groups were displaced, and scattered across the desert or dead, having been caught in the crossfire. Led by Jedi Master Romi Jade, the remaining anchorites reformed and aided in the restoration of the Jakku Enclave, going on to commit their continual service to the operation of the facility in trade for a place to stay.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Ancient Times & The Fall of the Republic & Empire
According to the Emperor's adviser Yupe Tashu, the group was affiliated with the light side of the Force and had bound themselves to the Jedi Order a thousand years ago.
In the last years of the Galactic Republic, Kolob ran an orphanage near the Plaintive Hand plateau and the Valley of the Eremite. He treated the orphans harshly and taught them that life was based on servitude and suffering. Such children included Galli, Brev, Kateena, and Narawal. Around this period, anchorites were known to wear elaborate and dark clothing, which also functioned to control the user's body.
By the time of the New Republic, the sect's influence was limited, even on their native world of Jakku as few anchorites operated openly, with members of the organization having restricted contributions to the wider galaxy, and such individuals only known by inhabitants of Jakku[SUP] [/SUP]and, on one instance, by a crazed Sith cultist.
The Age of Chaos & The Restoration of the Jakku Enclave
