- Able to extend from a small rod into a full-sized staff, the staff is further capable of deploying blades from its end turning it into a single, or double-sided spear as the user requires.
- Able to split in two from the centre to create 2 batons or bladed weapons as necessary.
- Plasma filament and mono-molecular edge give the blades a heightened cutting power (they are unable to cut through materials such as Phrik but are effective against most common armour materials). Blades and ends of the staff can also be electrified for an extra oomph.
- Double blades form is less effective than a proper sword dure to the longer hafts of the spear.
- An EMP will disable the spear's ability to transform locking it in whatever shape it currently is and preventing the electrification and plasma filament from activating.
The Erlang Spear was a weapon designed by the new Locke and Key facility on Shuiqui, a way of modernising their technology while exporting it to the rest of the galaxy.
The spear itself is a masterpiece of modern technology. able to collapse down into a small handheld stick that can be easily stored on your person for ease of transport. The spear can be extended out into a metallic bo staff with just to tough of a button. In this form the spear is able to be used as a normal staff, beating on your opponents with the concussive force of a staff. Although a staff lacks the ability to penetrate armour or cut through it, it does carry significant concussive force, able to knock around even opponents in heavy armour. Another commanded can trigger the release of long spear blades from either end of the staff turning it into a one or two-headed spear. A twist of the central part of the staff triggers a disconnect, turning it into two batons or bladed weapons as the need calls.
The Erland spear was a versatile weapon just with its various modes, but Locke and Key were never know for settling for just versatile when they could do more. Using scaled up tech from a stun baton they added the ability to charge the ends of the staff/batons or spear blades, allowing them to stun and shock enemies and electrical systems as needed. When deployed the spear blades also were sharpened to a molecular edge, and equipped with the same electro-plasma filament that were found in the weapons of the Elite Praetorian Guard.
With the capabilities and functionality available to it, the Erlang Spear was a dangerous and capable weapons in the right hands.
