Private Errand Girl

Deliver this.

But it's snowing outside.

In a ship.

I don't... know how to fly.

...

I will assign you a droid.

Avalore was beginning to think Ashin's daughter didn't like her very much. The rejection had steeled her further into her studies, with nothing but books and Ashin's lessons to fill her time. She was use to being left to her own devices. She wasn't use to it be entirely indoors. She wasn't even sure she was allowed leave-- Ashin had explicitly listed outside as a place she was not allowed to go.

Not that Avalore wanted to venture out into the chilly snow banks. She hated the cold.

Noelle hadn't left her room to protest, sending her off in a small shuttle piloted by a droid. Was there anything this family couldn't afford? Stepping into Sasha's office, sealed envelope in hand, she tried not to look so overwhelmed. There had only been two places she had seen in her life-- the swamps of Sorgan and the Varanin family estate. She had wanted this, hadn't she? A chance to see more. She tried to carry herself with the resemblance of confidence as she knocked on Sasha Santhe Sasha Santhe 's door.

She belonged here, the tilt of her chin declared it so.

And there she was enjoying her stay at the Santhe Estates on Lianna, lounging by a pool the size of a small lake and enjoying the amenities. Of course sometimes she had to go to her office and deal with some business. Currently she was looking over a little piece of technology that had her practically licking her lips. “I’m going to the pool,” she declared to the droid and walked out the back door stripping into a suit. The secretary droid rolled it’s visual receptors used to such a behavior.

A knock at the door was unusual but the droids would see to it, leading the visitor to wherever Sasha was if they presented the proper identification. She didn’t answer her own door, or prepare her own meals, or really do anything she didn’t want to. There were menials for that.

Still it came as a surprise from Sasha when, standing in her sun, there was a young girl.

“Oh honey, you’re dreadfully overdressed for the atmosphere of this place. Did you lose your adult supervision?”

Avalore Avalore

Supervision.

The word rolled through her mind, implanted there by Ashin to make up for her deplorable education. "No," she answered simply. "I'm on my own." She basked in the heat that soaked through her limbs. Imagine existing without using tapas.

A breath of fresh air.

Her eyes skipped over Sasha's exposed skin, struggling to find a place to look that didn't leave her cheeks flushing with the summer heat.

"Are you..." she looked down at the envelope, the swirls forming words in her mind. "Sasha Santhe?"

Sasha looked around for a moment as if examining her surroundings. She suppressed the urge to smile as the prey walked so willingly into the lions den. "well this Sasha Santhe's estate," she said continuing her search. "I am sitting in Sasha Santhe's chair, drinking her drink and wearing her clothes."

With a long sigh she stretched in the lounging chair and ran a hair through her hair. "What part of this equation escapes you my dear?"

Grabbing at a towel she stood up and paced a bit walking over to a bar by the pool. "Do make yourself useful will you?" She pointed to a bottle on a shelf opposite of her.

Avalore Avalore

"Well you know what they say about assuming," she grumbled, bending down to fetch the bottle without complaint. Her gaze stayed upwards, lingering heavily on the clear water that spanned as far into the distance. There was no mud in it. No reeds. No creatures that might bite at you, and no trees. It was a far cry from the swamps of home, the sparkling light reflecting over the top of it almost magical.

How did they do that?

Never mind, she wouldn't be mocked further. She handed out the bottle and the envelope in both hands, finally looking at the woman across from her.

"Message for you."

Because the holonet just couldn't suffice.

“Your service isn’t paying you enough,” Sasha said sipping another drink. She didn’t see a package satchel on the girl so this wasn’t a bonded courier sending over some small trinket or piece of technology. She should have carried the package in her pocket if it was small enough but that would hardly be professional.

Sasha wrinkled her nose, “You also need to lighten up. You’re going to wrinkle that pretty little face of yours.”

Avalore Avalore

Her arms wobbled a little, the bottle heavy. A puff of air escaped her lips, the bottle and letter placed down before Sasha. "I'm not being paid at all. She just told me to give it to you," Avalore reported, her attention drifting back to the water beyond Sasha.

She licked her lips, shrugging off the Thermal zip-up Ashin Cardé Varanin Ashin Cardé Varanin had given her and surrendering to the heat. "Can I have some?" Came the eager question, her attention flickering to the cooled glass in Sasha's hand.

You know, Noel said nothing about returning.

Maybe Sasha wanted to write a letter back. She could wait.
