LFG Establishing Reputation/Relationships at Chaos

This character was fairly established at one time at TGC as a Rebel pilot and freelancer. He was much less established as a young bounty hunter at SWFans. That was a long, long time ago, in galaxies far, far away. Now here we are at Chaos.

For those too lazy to read my character bio, cliff notes are that Pal was trained by bounty hunters and joined the Rebellion at a fairly young age. Not one for authority, he left and returned to freelancing when the Rebellion became the Galactic Alliance. The background is intentionally short and vague because a) that stuff bores me, and b) I’m not super solid on the Chaos timeline yet. Just enough to establish his bona fides from 24 years of existence and on-and-off RPing so people aren’t left wondering how he’s great with a blaster and in the cockpit.

Goals:
  • Reunite with any characters that knew this character at TGC (as Pal Vader) — if you’ll have me. That is always the easiest way to get back into the game.
  • Develop friendships and working relationships with Jedi and GA.
    • I would like to pair this character up with a Jedi or (or team) for missions to hunt down criminals, Sith, or Imperials. To the extent we don’t have a prior relationship, we can either pretend we are either already acquainted or can use an NPC to connect us. Pal has relationships with old Jedi characters that we could NPC for a one-liner, like so-and-so mentioned you’d be a good fit for this job. Could even use my old Jedi Master Hwo for that since he and Pal knew each other in-universe. Tagging Kitter Bitters Kitter Bitters here, hope she doesn’t mind. While Pal is of course the main character to me, I find it fun to fill sort of the sidekick role on these types of missions. The OT was a Luke Skywalker story, but Han was always my favorite character.
    • Pal would be highly unlikely to join the GA, but he’s a good guy at heart and would be more than willing to work with the GA. Most people write their freelance/smuggler characters as always in some sort of debt and in need of a quick score. I like to think after nearly 25 years, Pal isn’t a broke schmuck, and his years at the Rebellion are proof he’s not just in it for the money. Small team infiltrations, heists, etc., with GA agents would be fun. Can also fly Pal’s own X-Wing if a squadron gets in a jam. I intend for this character to ally with GA in the GA vs DE battle.
  • Develop relationships with other neutral parties.
    • Other freelancers, smugglers, bounty hunters, neutral folks. It makes sense for us to know each other. Work together, work against each other, talk crap about each other to other characters. Outlaw stuff. I’m already working on this a bit in a couple of open firefight threads, which have been a lot of fun so far.
  • Develop antagonistic relationships with Imperials and bad guys.
    • Cat-and-mouse deals. Not interested in being caught yet, but a few run-ins with some give-and-take would be fun. Something that puts Pal on the Imperial radar.
  • Get a ship.
    • I’ve had Pal forever, but I decided to approach this with just an X-Wing leftover from the Rebellion days. He’ll need a decent light freighter at some point, and I wanted to develop that in story rather than just bring one over. This is lower priority, and I’d like to position him as a potential pilot/co-pilot on teams that have the ship part already taken care of.

Things I’m not looking for:
  • A permanent crew or faction, at least not for now.
  • Romantic relationships. I’ve never really been into that, especially given that I’m now IRL married with a kid. Plus my coming and going IRL would not be conducive to that.
  • Training. This sounds incredibly selfish, I know. I’ve trained a lot of Jedi Padawans, Sith Apprentices, bounty hunters, Rebel pilots and troopers, and Imperial agents over the years. Individual threads, group threads, everything under the sun. With my limited time, I am looking to avoid that for now. And like a romantic relationship, I don’t want to leave anyone hanging if I disappear for long periods of time due to IRL limitations. It’s one thing to have to cut a RP short; it’s another to abandon a trainee mid-training. I’ve done that before and felt bad about it.

Reply or PM me if you have any interest in Any of the above.

Hey man! I've got a ton of these ideas. I've got a few characters to help you there-

Wedge here, I'm looking for him to branch out more into the Rogue Squadron sort of stories. Getting wrapped up on the groundside of things, too.

Relan Dredec Relan Dredec is a SIA (GA Intelligence) Field Agent. Very cold and ruthless, with a very dry sense of humor.

Nej Tane Nej Tane is a notorious (infamously stupid) outlaw. Very funny and usually does something dumb.

Fenn Stag Fenn Stag is a Mandalorian with a lot of anger issues- usually involved in the underworld in some way.

Jace Rhane Jace Rhane is a character I've wanted to write more of, a Jedi Knight Guardian. Very introspective and very thoughtful, and very keen to help someone out.

That opens up a ton of possibilities along the lines of what I was thinking. I have a few ideas, but I’ll think on this some more. A couple of things that immediately come to mind:

An op with Relan Dredec that has to be off the books, hence reaching out to a freelancer like Pal with connections to GA circles but no actual affiliation with GA. Plausible deniability. Or, if not so secret, it could also involve Wedge to get him on the ground, as well. We can come up with some mission around some macguffin that the GA is concerned about.

We could do an earlier thread with Wedge and Pal. Maybe they get into some trouble racing swoop bikes on Tatooine and have to work together to get out of the situation. That would set up a relationship between those two characters, and Wedge could introduce Pal to Relan as an option for the aforementioned SIA op with the three of them (and anyone else who may be interested).

Hey! I saw you posted in the First Reply rp Sour. Generally First Replies mean a sort of first-come, first serve arrangement where one person jumps in then it becomes sort of a private thread. We can talk to Enki Rak Enki Rak about the thread eventually, but in the meantime I'd be happy to be a neutral or bad guy connection for you!

Sorry, I did not realize that’s what first reply meant. Still learning the tags. No trouble for me to back out of that.
