GENERAL INFORMATION
Unit Name: Eternal Empire Royal Marine Corps
Affiliation: Kay Arenais/The Amalgam
Classification: Elite Protection Unit/ Black Ops
Equipment: Marines are taught to wield a wide variety of weapons, with a focus on heavy damage primary weapons and light damage, quick firing secondary weapons. They favor weapons such as The Mandalorian Assault Rifle, DLT-19 and DLT-20, T-21 Repeater, Sith Assassin Pistol, Imperial Sonic Blaster, Charric Rifle and Pistol, multiple types of slugthrowers as well. They are also taught to wield The Zhabhoka, The Sith Tremor Sword, and Mandalorian Heavy Blaster pistol, Vibro Dagger, and Vibro battle axe. They are equipped by default with the Powerful Mandalorian Assault Rifle, Sith Assassin Pistol, and their primary form of Hand to Hand Disciplines are K'tara, Hijkata, and Atrisian Judo. They are trained to be expert starfighter escorts also, their primary craft being speed-enhanced updated Aurek Strike-Fighters, and heavily armored Combat Insertion shuttles. They are equipped with stylized powered light battle armor and stealth field belts, survival kit, and their helmets are equipped with 3x variable zoom, night, and thermal vision, along with basic healing underlays, and lastly they are familiar with both det charges and grenades.
Description: Often Dressed in bulky, sinister red armor, their emblem is that of a crescent moon enshrouded by a stylized crosshair
COMBAT INFORMATION: The combination of Unit Size and Availability below is the indicator of how numerous your unit is. Stormtroopers for instance would be considered Large/Common, while Rogue Squadron would be a Small/Unique unit. Majority Force User Units are prohibited from being Common or Large. The stronger and more specialized your unit is (FU or NFU), the smaller and less common it should be.
Unit Size: Medium (Only 3000 members at any given time)
Unit Availability: Uncommon
Unit Experience: Elite
Combat Function: This Unit will serve both as a protection detail for Kay Arenais primarily, and The Amalgam secondarily, as well as handle the most sensitive missions of Empress Kay. To that end they are highly skilled at defending all VIP's with their lives, and are trained to fight Force Users. When on the offensive they are as equally adept at shock and awe, rapid advance tactics as they are at vicious protracted final stands against overwhelming numbers or executing stealth operations. Many are trained to take on groups many times their number, using sheer tactical skill, intuition, ruthlessness, and sometimes just sheer brute strength. On offensives, they are best deployed against large stationary targets or overseeing sensitive black ops, where they serve in direct fashion in operations the public cannot know about or as advisors. Guiding stealthy execution of objectives. As they are the personal troops of the Empress, they automatically outrank any soldier not in the most senior of command positions, no matter the rank in their own organizations. They are excessively paranoid about the Empress and her safety, as well as the safety of any charge in their care. While skilled at stealth they prefer to operate openly, draw fire towards themselves, exhaust and break the enemy through superior fire power and manuevers. Those Marines considered exceptional even by the standards of the Marines are outfitted in special custom powered battle armor with more energy resistance and placed in command positions in the Marine ranks, and are often guarding The Empress's very person with heavy axes or Zhaboka's, and will also guard the Amalgam should she require it.
Strengths:
An army of Face Smashers: Trained to fight while overwhelmed by great numbers, a Royal Marine is extremely dangerous when cornered by multiple opponents and those who anticipate an easy victory against an outnumbered foe, even one with out weapons while they themselves are heavily armed, soon learn that their training, speed, reflexes, and brute strength are as close to superhuman as they can get without resorting to cybernetics or the Force, and their capacity for mercy is close to nil. These are the troops you deply when a position MUST be held or taken, or when someone MUST be taken alive or killed, or when information MUST be retrieved or destroyed, all often without witnesses. They get only the nastiest, most difficult operations beyond guarding their main VIP's, and their brutal, selective training reflects that. And even among these Elites, those considered the best in the corps are assigned to the Empress's personal detail. Wielding heavy damage weapons, light powered armor, with light, quick firing back ups, and skilled in swords, axes, and martial arts, The Royal Marine fears no enemy.
Connected: They outrank nearly any soldier on the field, and answer to no one but Kay or The Amalgam. This enables them to take control of operations with ease, rally the lesser ranks, and achieve victory.
Force Dead: They are hard to directly affect with the force, due to being nearly deaf to it. This was part of the screening process. They are hard to directly affect with the force through mental or direct telekinetic attacks.
Rally: Their very presence can bring hope to their allies, inspiring the grunt to fight to the death for the Empress, and dread to even the Eternal Empire's worst foes.
Weaknesses:
Tenacity: Their infamous tenacity and skill can occasionally play against them, and may make even a veteran marine misjudge a situation and stay and fight to the bitter end when the more tactical solution was to withdraw.
Red Tape: They may inspire the average grunt but those in senior positions may resent their own authority being overriden, occasionally causing them to go behind the back of the Royal Marine to make sure their own methods and troops get proper credit, to the detriment of cooperation and mission flow.
Replacement problems: All members must have either been members of Elite units previously or demonstrated exceptional talent: This can make the recruitment process long and taxing, as there is already a limited pool to draw from and the excessively high standards make easy replacement of troops difficult, so at least three hundred are kept out of circulation for emergencies, in case some catastrophic loss occurs that The Empress will not be totally without elite protection.
Washouts: Royal Marine training is a truly hellish experience. It is not uncommon for most recruits to die. Often only one person survives the training out of dozens. This helps contribute to friction with other Special Forces teams as well as high ranking personnel, who feel the training program is unneccessarily harsh and chewing up both promising new recruits as well as experienced Veterans who would be valuable elsewhere.
Must maintain momentum: They are best at rapid advances, both to claim victory and to get a VIP to safety, and if stalled in their advance for whatever reason, they can have trouble building it back up to a pace they like.
Limited numbers: There are only three thousand troops. They might win a minor conflict but they can't win a war, and are not meant for the general battlefield.
On your own: Though adept at taking control of large numbers of troops to direct operations they often operate on their own, without expectation of reinforcements.
Aggression: Though they can execute stealth operations they often prefer more aggressive ops. This can be a flaw as not all problems are solved by total destruction.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
"Eternal Loyalty! Eternal Fortitude!"
--Royal Marines Motto
The Eternal Empire Royal Marine Corps, also known as The Moon Marines due to their distinct patch, are the brainchild of The Amalgam. Created after the attack on The Eternal Empire capital by The First Order, The Amalgam realized virtually the entire security detail had to be purged, which the Amalgam did, personally executing dozens of people who failed the Empire and immediately instituted a massive dragnet for the most skilled soldiers in the Empire. Starting with people from all branches of the service, The Amalgam instituted a hideously cruel and brutal training regimen, seperating ten thousand recruits into a thousand each, giving them each only a simple blaster rifle, knife, and climbing tools, and then had each legion set upon by three times that many HK-series Assassin Droids, all heavily armed and with superior weapons. Those that survived were grouped with survivors from the other legions until only six thousand remained, forced to scavenge weapons and armor from their attackers. These six legions were divided into three legions each, and then forced to hunt, stalk, or kill one another over the course of three months, with The Amalgam herself ambushing, torturing, or instructing those who made successful kills in equal measure. This savage process continued until only three Legions, made of survivors from both sides lived at which point they are taken by The Amalgam and heavily indoctrinated to give their lives for Kay Arenais and The Amalgam, who then had hand picked instructors from Commenor still loyal to Kay fill in whatever gaps were in their training. The final result are a trio of crack legions who can get the nastiest assignments done, no matter how overwhelmed they are. Their choice of weaponry, tactics, the often brutal manner in how they are trained and even how they are recruited (Surviving overhelming adversity and odds) and the single minded resolve to complete the mission are heavily reminiscent of The Marksmen, the defunct faction of the Amalgam's obsession, Maple Harte, albeit without a need for Force Sensitivity as well different aims, but the resemblance is far from accidental, and as much as it is meant to sincerely protect Kay and carry out dangerous, high risk assignments, The Amalgam could not resist the opportunity to psychologically strike at Maple as well, and get under the bounty hunter's skin knowing the Marksmen's Legacy continues only in the most twisted of ways.
