- Sensor Intercept Officer Position (See Strengths and Weaknesses)
- SENSOR INTERCEPT OFFICER- This position is like a “gunner” in that the officer is in charge of weapons and intercepting incoming fighters, but it also serves as an “emergency pilot”. The SIO allows the pilot to focus on flying and shooting.
- “ARCHANGEL”’S BIG BROTHER- The Ashera is not an upgrade but is what the Archangel was meant to be.
- WE'RE COMING TO YOU!- You think you're out of range of one of these babies? Think again. They may be carrier-based, but they are designed to operate long distances away from their Base of Operations.
- FIRE AND FORGET- The missile and torpedo systems are standard, but the tracking systems are designed to simply fire and move on to the next target.
- YOU THINK THAT'S ALL WE GOT?- The Reaper cannons on these fighters are well concealed, and unless you know that they are there, they will come as a surprise you are not going to want to experience.
- OH CRAP, THEY FOUND US! - Yes, this ship has a SLAM, and a HIMS system, and some stealth systems. Those systems have to be engaged and cannot overlay each other. She can be hard to find, or fast, not both.
- A LONG WAY HOME- The designed intent of this fighter is both a strength and a weakness. The problem with that is if you are in trouble, you are not going to be getting back up very quickly.
- SIO IS NOT THE PILOT- While the position is “emergency pilot” status, the officer sits behind the pilot and would have to rely almost solely on systems to fly the fighter should the pilot be incapacitated.
- IS A WORKOUT TO FLY- The fighter is multi-purpose, big, and strong, but sometimes will have to go up against fighters smaller and faster. The defensive systems are nice, but a pilot of these fighters either needs to be experienced, daring (ie “suicidal”), or strong as a Ronto to control it.
DESCRIPTION
The Ashera was designed and put into production because the Archangel, for all of its strengths was missing that one little “multi-purpose” aspect that Liram loves about the X-wing. The Ashera fills that role. From being able to commit to long-range interdiction and operations to capital ship engagement, to bombing runs, to HVT, the Ashera is a multi-role fighter that can change roles on the fly.
This model is not completely an upgrade to the ArchAngel and will not replace it, but become a nice addition. Pilots are required to return to the Academy for extra education on this model with the newer integrated systems. True, much of what is in here is in an ArchAngel and other fighters, but the changes are the responsibilities of the pilot and the SIO.
