DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
- Dual phase - Each blade can be altered from a length of .5 to 1.5 meters in length through the use of a switch on one side of the original single-blade emitter.
- Variable intensity settings - Opposite the dual phase controls lies a variable intensity switch, which can set the blade to a full powered lightsaber, a training saber, and little more than a glow rod.
- Force amplifying - After having been wielded by Exar Kun for so long, the weapon has absorbed much of his malevolent power, causing the weapon to boost the wielder's power relative to their strong suit and already present, natural power.
- Minor Aura of Unease - The weapon's inherent, infused darkness creates a sense of unease in those who fight its wielder. Prolonged combat increases the effect, much like a natural aura of unease created consciously by a force wielder, however the effects are much more subdued and minor. The individual would not suffer the full effects an aura would perceive, however they will grow to feel unnerved by the unnatural aura of the weapon.
Strengths:
- Unique design: The blade of Exar Kun is quite unique, having both a dual phase function and two blades that can be ignited from either end, despite being only so long as the standard single bladed lightsaber. This can provide a number of strategic advantages when use in tricky or creative ways.
- Force Amplification: It has been noted that individuals sensitive to the force notice immediate surges in their ability to manipulate the force when wielding this weapon. This is most likely due to the amount of force energy infused into the weapon from Exar Kun himself. While in possession of the weapon, the user is able to manipulate the force with greater strength and ease in the area which they most excel. For instance, one who's greatest strength is persuasive force powers would find it easier to convince individuals of their words, while one who's greatest strength is force lightning would find themselves able to produce more powerful and intense bolts. This does not, however, grant them the training to control the newly amplified power, much like a double edged sword, they have not naturally gained their power and are unaware of their limits.
- In short, it amplifies their strong spots in the force to higher levels of intensity without granting them the control over their newly boosted powers. This does not make an apprentice-level user nearly as strong as a knight, or in turn master, but does push their particular power towards the upper limit of their 'tier'.
- Variable Blade Intensity: The blade can be adjusted from the scorching, deadly heat of a lightsaber, to a training saber that will only apply light burns and is capable of fighting training tools with ease, to a light emitting diode or glowrod at the lowest setting, incapable of harming or protecting one's self.
- Insidious Nature: The sight of one's opponent wielding this weapon begins to instill dread in the mind, similar to an aura of uneasiness. Prolonged exposure produces negative similar side effects to the aforementioned Aura of Uneasiness, to a far lesser but noticeable degree.
Weaknesses :
- Age: The weapon is extremely old, and requires daily upkeep to keep working at optimum efficiency.
- Water: There are no records of the weapon being made usable underwater, and submerssion will cause the saber to be temporarily useless.
- Unique Design: While also being a strength of the weapon, the very unique design of the weapon is extremely unorthodox and difficult to master, proving to be just as dangerous to the user as the opponent. Though certainly one which can be overcome with time, it is worth noting that forgetting the standard handle has, in fact, two blades has in fact resulted in at least one user's death.
- Malevolent Power: Exar Kun's connection to the Dark Side was so absolute and strong, his lightsaber still retains memories of its darkness. After so many years, the power is far lesser than in its early years, but even so the power of Exar Kun's darkness can 'infect' the wielder, should they wield the weapon too long without protecting their mind. The effects of this are far more noticeable on those of lightside persuasion, as they are the polar opposite, usually, to the weapon's residual nature. Careful use and frequent meditation can mitigate the effects, but the weapon's malevolent nature will inevitably manifest itself to some degree. The effects of this infection will vary from individual to individual, from increased aggression, more willingness to violence, higher levels of cruelty, etc.
DESCRIPTION
An ancient weapon from the days before the Sith Empire, Exar Kun crafted this by modifying his already existing jedi lightsaber based on designs provided by a sith holocron, and infused it through chaos and bloodshed with his own powerful darkness. Wielded in battle against Exar Kun's former master, the weapon was lost with his death.
Recovered later by the Jedi Order, specifically the Jedi Covenant 'Shadow Celeste Morne', it was hidden away on Odryn in special casing to prevent it from infecting the minds of Jedi or those without even that training to protect themselves. The weapon was stolen by thieves, however, and found its way into the hands of force wielders once more. Ultimately the blade would end the lives of its new wielders, and be returned to the jedi to be lost in history upon Order 66.
Of course, no story ends here. In the centuries to follow, the blade made its way across the galaxy, and into the hands of a Sith worshiping cult on Zakuul. The leader was enthralled by the weapon, and soon built a small, cannibalistic cult dedicated to discovering power through any means. Few who encountered this band of cultists ever lived to tell the tale, except for one.
His words spread like wildfire, and soon reached the ears of both Zmej of the order of Ren, and Darlyn Excron of Commenor. Both held vested interest in collecting the ancient sith weapon, and made their way to Zakuul's Endless Swamp to collect on such a prize. Unfortunately for them, it would be no simple fetch quest, as neither wished to work with the other.
After violently encountering one another, and unfortunately being captured for that evening's meal, the two broke free and collected their weapons, with Darlyn swiping the saber staff for himself in the chaos. The cultist leader emerged, collecting Darlyn's weapon to use against them, but ultimately proving inexperienced with dealing with force users. The man fell, leaving the two to collect their belongings and go their separate ways.
