Explosive Impact
Ova Ziss got onto a swoop bike, a DFS100, and he gunned it from the defense platform near the Jedi Enclave to the Sayu Ni Enclave. People and creatures sped past him, but he kept going until he reached nearly the maximum speed: he was heading at 495kmh. There was no telling what the Scarlett Armada pirate Kaljak Rakham would do to Dantooine, and time was of the essence.

The last few moments made it clear that the pirates had no tolerance for negotiation. Kaljak, a notorious pirate who had a gang on Dantooine Space Station, had already said that he planned to blow up the kyber crystal mines at the Enclave. He had at least one accomplice - and she was at the Sayu Ni Temple Enclave right now.

The kyber crystals at the Temple were rich and full with Force energy. If someone set up explosives in the Sayu Ni Temple Enclave, it could (and likely would) cause a crippling disaster. The Jedi Enclave was well-protected, but this hidden Sayu Ni Temple was - at the moment - completely exposed to an attack.

As Ova sped through the grassy knolls and plains, heading for the Enclave, he could see an unwelcome visitor in the garden through the speederbike's viewfinding technology. It appeared to be a Sith, and she was certainly dressed the part. Ancient armor, a Sith mask visor inscribed with writing, and two swords on either side of her. She was waging a full-on assault on anything she could see: pirates, droids, security guards, and even an Acolyte. Ova had no idea who this individual was, but he was going to stop them.

Ova used the airbrakes and slowed down the swoop to a crawl. Then, he turned the bike at a diagonal angle. Ova hopped off of the swoop bike while it was moving, and tried to send the moving bike's momentum into Cord Starfall. The bike skidded, and then careened towards Cord. Both the bike and Cord would be heading towards a wall. Regardless of whether the bike struck Cord or not, it would collapse, fold, and then explode a few feet away from the wall.

Ova somersaulted to safety. Then, he waltzed towards Cord Starfall Cord Starfall .

Ova tugged his N&Z Modular Blaster out of its holster on the left side of his body, then pulled a collapsible plasma axe from his belt on the right. Ova turned over the axe in his hands. Being an honorable duelist, he allowed Cord Starfall to rise and face him.

Ova's hands and weapons were at his side. Ova was relaxed, but ready. He felt the same way now as he did when he was a boy, riding swoop races with the Space Wolves, a vigilante swoop gang. This is just another bar fight, he thought, and Ova could win it if he kept his cool.

The kyber mines were to the left of Ova and Cord - the Temple Enclave entrance, to the right. The combatants faced the temple as they circled one another.

"You never should've come here, Sith", Ova shouted. "Why did you come to this place?"

Ova used their opening moments to begin sizing up his opponent. He accused her on purpose: a riled-up opponent made more mistakes. It was a woman, and one who was strong enough to carry that Ancient Sith armor. She was huge and intimidating. Ova was smaller than her, but he was nimble. He felt he could use that speed to take her out. There was nobody else here, and backup wouldn't be coming anytime soon.

Ova would have to fight Cord Starfall himself for at least a few moments - without the benefit of help from his bodyguard, Grenz.

Not yet, at least.

"You won't be leaving with the kyber crystals, and neither will Kaljak."

Ova waited patiently for her to take the first blow, the anger licking at him and igniting his fighting spirit.

Her blade's quick as they bit through flesh and steel, anything that attempted to stop her found themselves cut down. Her purpose clear to stop anyone from getting the crystals, they were not to be weapons sold for war. This Galaxy had seen enough death at the hands of the machinations of both jedi and sith. No more was she going to let this be the way, letting those that claim to be salvation for the Galaxy tear down those that truly built it and lived in it.

Her style of fighting was brutal, quick, and efficient, she did not play games, nor did she relish in leaving them to suffer. Droid and man fell to the blade in very quick strikes to vital areas, the lives fading in an instant. There was a calm to Cord as she danced with her swords in a ballet of brutality. Only after the day was done would she would she grieve for the lives she had taken this day.

The rage inside her wanted to come out and let open the flood gates of pure carnage but her will was strong and the monster inside her was still chained but still she could slaughter like no other. Her life had been war, her baptism had been in blood, and the battlefield had been her childhood playground. Blood and oil dripped from her swords as she made her way towards the temple. Her armor and green cloak stained with mud and blood yet her mask remained pristine.

As she heard the scream of an engine behind her she closed her eyes and came to a stand still her arms dropping to her sides. She cleared her mind and listened as the speeder bike neared her and at the last second she back flipped through the air with the force aiding her in clearing the fast approaching bike. As she back flipped over it her body twisted in the air changing the way she was facing so when she landed her back would be to the temple.

She came down from her flip landing on her with her knees slightly bent now facing Ova Ziss Ova Ziss . She rose back to her feet and her eyes opened as the bike collapsed and exploded behind her. She did not flinch her eyes burning just as brightly as the explosion behind her in the sulfuric orange glow. The man before her had his weapons drawn as he spoke to her. Under her mask she smirked as he issued his commands and demands upon her. Thinking she was sith not for a very long time she thought to herself.

Her orange eyes stared at him moment longer. Not mechanical voice as one would expect but a rough and gravelly female voice like someone who did speak much aloud spoke out to him. "You are right, I never intended to leave with them. I plan to destroy them." She stared at he man and looked him over a lot shorter than her and he didn't look like a warrior to her. He was definitely not one of the guards maybe one some one in a more administrative role. He probably should have brought an army with him, which made him either brave or stupid.

In that moment she spun the sword Solar in her left hand sheathing it leaving only fiend in her right hand. Not as show of cockiness or arrogance though, she could not sense if the man was force sensitive or not. Her code dictated that if she fought an opponent that was not noticeable stronger than herself she had to give them an advantage, he had an axe and blaster and now she had a single sword. "I don't know who Kaljak is but they will not leave with them either." She could strike first but what purpose would that serve, they were at a standstill he wanted to stop her but could he.

"I will give you one chance to walk away, and let me do what I came here to do. I do not enjoy killing but I will not be stopped."

Ova saw that his opponent was unyielding. She had flipped right over the speederbike with a certain amount of grace; a perfect fluidity of movement. It was like an invisible force had thrust her straight up above the Temple walls, like a rocket. How did she do that?! The force user, the "Sith", had seen him coming, even from so far away! The anger was spiraling within Ova, the force pulsing in him weakly as they sized each other up. Cord would begin to notice the force arising inside of Ova: however, Ova was badly inexperienced. He was not using a lightsaber and he was not trained as an Acolyte. At best, Ova took weekend self-defense classes. An administrator of his stature had no business fighting Cord Starfall.

He was so angry that he was going to try.

Cord's orange eyes met Ova's green eyes as they circled.

Cord Starfall said:
"You are right, I never intended to leave with them. I plan to destroy them."

When Cord said that she was going to destroy the kyber crystals, Ova roared angrily, and Cord would see his eyes flash with the force.

"You pirates aren't killing or destroying anything else!"

Ova sent a right-handed overhand axe strike sailing towards Cord. It was clumsy and uneven, and which she would surely deflect or glance off of her thick armor. He'd have to do better than that. Ova adjusted his footwork, so that the next strike would not be a glancing one.

The combatants continued to circle each other.

Cord Starfall said:
"I don't know who Kaljak is, but they will not leave with either. I will give you one chance to walk away, and let me do what I came here to do. I do not enjoy killing but I will not stopped."

"Kaljak set those bombs, didn't he? You have to be here with him. Y-you're lying! - Who are you? Who sent you? Tell me!" Ova was seriously outmatched by the space witch (the "Sith Lord", as he mistakenly called her). Ova seemed to have a limited understanding of the situation, and he was partially motivated by fear. It would seem that intimidation and negotiation, two hallmarks of Ova's career, may not work on this opponent. He tried to remain calm. Ova would get the answers, and then - if he had to - he would kill Cord Starfall.

Cord even put one of her swords away to give him a handicap! Oh, that karking tears it!

Something inside of Ova told him to strike at her again, and to strike quickly. Ova found a quickness inside of him that he didn't even know existed. Ova double-tapped two slug rounds towards Cord with the modular blaster in his left hand, trying to catch her off-guard. It wasn't a very honorable Sayu Ni move, but he was outmatched, and he wasn't going to die in some Diarch Temple like the others. Then, Ova dashed towards Cord, his axe raised in his right hand. He clipped his blaster quickly onto his left-side holster, and then dropped the axe towards Cord's sword, using all of the strength he could muster. Ova was trying to bash the sword right out of her hand with a mid blow. On the follow-through, Ova took hold of the axe with both hands, driving it horizontally in the other direction, an uppercut strike to the mid-section, and then tried to bring himself back into the resting position. If they entered a clash, Ova was prepared to go blow-for-blow, until he didn't have the strength to raise his weapon anymore. If Cord deflected him again, Ova would growl with anger, and tolerate her presence a bit longer.

I am going high, and then back left.

Her sword came up quickly still just held in her right hand when his first clumsy swing over hand swing came at her she easily batted with a left to right swing of her sword. As pulled away she kept her sword pointed at him but did not strike back instead she began to circle him moving to her left.

"You pirates aren't killing or destroying anything else!"

“The crystals are tools of war, which will be sold to the highest bidder. This Galaxy has suffered enough at the hands of such weapons.” Men like this one who stood before only saw dollar signs not the harm they did. Those who protected such endeavors as this were driven need to survive and for them, she would grieve. “You could just have easily prevented the killing this day, but I will stop the killing of millions more by destroying the crystals.”

"Kaljak set those bombs, didn't he? You have to be here with him. Y-you're lying! - Who are you? Who sent you? Tell me!"

The man screamed at her demanding answers to questions she did not have the answers to. He was enraged and she could feel it welling up in him, the darkness flowing into him. It started out small but like all darkness in the heart it swelled and grew. Yet before she could even attempt to try to answer the mans question, he pulled the trigger on his pistol. Cord’s reaction was to her sword back and point up towards the sky. The sword now to protect her body as the bolts came in with a quick swipe the energy slammed into fiend. Unlike a saber the bolts could not be deflected back instead were absorbed into the alchemically treated sword storing the energy it fed on. She had to take a few steps back as she did this, but her movements were quick considering the armor she was wearing.

As she made her final step back he came charging towards her, He came fast with a strike at her sword with a single hand right strike. The Axe slammed into the sword as plasma sparked against sith steel. The man continued to push through bringing both hands to his axe, her grip held tight unto her sword and as he went two handed grip so did she to combat strength against strength as he pushed into her. He started to push up and in going for her mid-section, her orange eyes glaring at him through her mask, and her teeth gritting under the mask.

She held the force of his blow as he pushed in with determination and she could feel that little bit of force flowing through him. As they were close locked up there. “I am Cord Starfall, I have no allegiances.” She said as she finally pushed back with all her strength to break them apart. As he pulled away her left hand pulled away from her two-handed grip. “And I have had enough of this.” Her left hand out palm up a force blast came forth ripping up ground as speed towards the man. Then with out a second thought she pushed forwards just behind her force blast, she was merciful and going in for the quick kill a left to right cross body swipe for the man’s neck. She had given him his chance to walk away but he didn’t now there was no holding back.

"You fool. Those kyber crystals, they are highly explosive. If you set those bombs off, you'll take a chunk of the planet with you!"

Cord pushed Ova into the wall of the Temple Enclave using the Force. His body crashed into it. Ova felt something near his stomach crack, probably a rib, and Ova winced in pain. But, he scarcely had time to react to the pain. Ova felt Cord dashing towards him. Ova ducked quickly, using his agility just in time to avoid the high strike. The Sith sword swiped at the place where Ova's neck had been only before, leaving a deep trench in the wall.

That, that was a killing blow.

Ova rose to his feet. Talking time was over. It was time to make an arrest, and get out of here.

"Well I'm Ova Ziss, and the only place you're going is a prison barge!"

CLANG. The weapons collided into a powerful high lock, instigated by Ova. Ova pushed his axe into Cord's sword using two hands. The axe made a terrible, crackling, humming noise. The combatants' hands shook mightily as they showed each other their strengths.

The plasma axe and the Sith sword locked into each other. The electricity of the axe crackled along the metal, while the alchemical metal reacted and absorbed the electricity. Both combatants trembled and shook with strength, keeping the high lock going. But, Ova was losing: Cord was pushing Ova towards the kyber crystal caves with her blows. Ova gritted his teeth, holding steady against his powerful opponent, his muscles tensing as the electricity licked Cord's weapon.

Now Ova was on the defensive. The more Ova grinded back against Cord, clanging his axe on her sword and trying to stop the lock, the more she dug into her footwork. The axe and the sword clattered together several times, and each time Cord struck, she pushed Ova back. The weight of the Sith armor was no match for Ova within this lock-up. Ova felt his feet slipping. Ova's broken rib was searing with pain.

Ova took a few steps back, releasing a roar. He could see the mouth of the mines behind him.

But, this was right where he wanted her.

Ova feinted left, ending the lock-up, and then sent the blunt end of his axe sailing towards Cord's helmet with two hands, trying to disorient her. If he succeeded, Ova would unclip his left blaster and riddle her Ancient Sith carapace with another double-tap of slug bullets, aiming right for her collarbone. If he failed, then Ova's wide, one-armed axe stance would leave him open to another attack or lock-up.

The sunlight outside was fading as the combatants headed into the depths of the kyber crystal caves...

"You assume a lot." She growled as the man ducked and moved quickly to evade her blade as it bit into the stone of the temple deep and gouging. She growled slightly under her breath as her attack missed and she spun too quickly to face him. "The crystals can be made inert."

"You can try to arrest me."
She said as he came at her again sword and axe clashing plasma hissing and snapping against steel. The Sith blade feeding off the energy of the axe as they locked up and battle of strength began again. Her power pushed the fight in the direction she wanted to go. she controlled the lock.

She pushed him towards the cave opening it was a slow going the man was putting up a go amount of fortitude. Yet she had fought so many wars and battled so many well-trained warriors in her long lifetimes. She was born to war, made for war, and war was all she knew for most of her life. Both he Jedi and the sith had seen her as nothing more then a tool for their wars.

The gold lettering on her mask shimmered in the axe's plasma light that bounced off her sword. That lettering that mark all her sins in the ancient sith language, all the death and destruction caused by her hands. It showed the kind of monster she could be if she let into heavily to her rage. As they pushed close together, in their lock her orange eyes burned brightly through eye slits in her mask.

He tried to pull back from the lock, but Cord kept pressing her focus on him but her goal elsewhere. Every time he pulled back and struck, she engaged the lock once more cause him to move further in the direction she wanted. "Do I need to put away this sword to give you a better fighting chance?" She mocked him though she wasn't toying with him. She wanted him to get more angry and aggressive. It would make him wilder and more prone to mistakes.

He made a bigger retreat and roared at her as he realized what she was doing. Under the mask she smirked but then pushed forward coming in for a heavy strike either to lock up again or cleave him at the shoulders as she gripped her sword in both hands. He feint causing her to change the direction of her blade to block something that was not there. Then his axe came straight for her face the axe slamming into he mask. The force caused her head to snap to the side knocking the mask from her face. The mask went flying off and clanging across the floor metal on duracrete. The axe so close to her face spitting sparks in her eyes causing her to instinctively close them. Yet he forgot one thing in that moment such a strike left him wide open in the midsection and her sword struck out hard and fast to try to skewer him through the stomach as he pulled back to go draw his holstered weapon.

She did not need her eyes to see where he was at, she could feel him in the force now. She would either skewer him or cause him to move to the point he wouldn't get his shots off fast enough before she was on him again and off guard. If he moved, she would immediately move to strike for his left hand in hopes to damage it or cut it clean off.

Cord Starfall said:
"Do I need to put away this sword to give you a better fighting chance?"

Ova growled with anger, and the provocation gave Cord exactly what she wanted. Ova Ziss's entire face was flush red with anger, and he was trembling slightly from the pain of his broken rib. He feels his axe clang Cord Starfall's mask away, and he smiles with satisfaction.

He looked upon his opponent's face. Cord Starfall had a million-mile stare, as a military man might call it. Ova thought that she was a fair-skinned and beautiful black-haired woman, save for her eyes. Her orange eyes held a steely, unyielding, piercing gaze, which she set on Ova like an orbital beam. Cord Starfall's eyes were deeply unsettling and unnerving to Ova Ziss.

Ova tried to go back on the offensive. He strikes Cord's weapon away from his stomach when she goes to skewer him, but Ova's parrying move leaves him wide open. When Ova goes to unclip his blaster to get in another cheap-shot, Cord strikes his left hand. The modular blaster goes sailing out of his hand and lands fifteen feet away: completely out of his reach.

Cord slices Ova's hand open and a deep, crimson, diagonal slash appears right along the middle.

The mineral baron howls with pain. He braces himself against the kyber crystal cavern's walls, spilling blood on the earth.

Ova begins to retreat away from Cord, further into the mines. He's backing in the direction of the fallen blaster. He grabs his portable comms device, and he screams into it.

It was at that moment that Ova gave Cord another dark-sided emotion to feed on: fear.

"Backup! I-I need b-backup in the Sayu Ni Enclave mines! The terrorist is down here!"

Then, Ova spots an improvised weapon: a kyber crystal, about the size of a small fist. Ova could throw the kyber crystal at his attacker, if he was in trouble. Ova stuffs the portable comms device back into his utility belt, grabs a kyber crystal in his left hand, then he holds up the cracking plasma axe. The krystal hurts in Ova's hand, but if Cord were to disarm him, it would be his only defense.

Ova would parry and avoid Cord's blows. Ova's lack of martial training was becoming more and more apparent to Cord. But, his counter-blows were powerful and passionate. Although Ova wasn't trying to outright kill Cord Starfall, he was striking at and parrying her as hard as he could.

The kyber crystal in Ova's hand glows with a deep shade of purple. Something inside of Ova eases. This strange Force endows Ova with a sense of peace, which helps him to overcome his anger and pain. It was a voice, a sensation, a tingling that was strange to him. The "tingling" had been here way before Ova arrived, and it would remain here long afterwards. The "tingling" understood Ova better than anyone he had ever met. The "tingling" told Ova that he didn't have to feel scared, or angry, or afraid. The "tingling" told Ova - it wasn't his time to die yet. He had to accomplish more on this planet. There was much more for him to see and do. The voice insisted that Ova continue to defend the crystals. He would have to knock out or kill Cord Starfall, because it seemed to Ova that she absolutely would not stop. She would destroy the crystals, and him, if he didn't stop her.

Ova had a broken rib and a shattered left wrist, but still, he refused to relent either. He abided by this strange voice. Ova felt like this voice was trying to protect him. It wasn't some kind of manipulation. It couldn't be. The voice, it was too calming. It called on him to be the Guardian of this place.

"Y-you...won't d-destroy...the kyber crystals...", Ova stuttered at Cord. He was heaving with exhaustion. He spat blood as he continued to retreat towards the blaster. "Over MY... DEAD... BODY!!!"

This voice, this Force, told Ova to forego martial training entirely. Ova remembered how the woman had pushed him back against the wall, using only her hand: using only the tingling sensation. Ova wondered if he was capable of doing the same thing. It seems that he was capable of summoning the Force - or, he could do it now. The kyber crystal glowed strangely in Ova's left hand. He stretched his right hand forward, his uninjured hand, and he summoned forth this power, this tingling, this Force, to upend Cord Starfall and to hopefully make her hit the duracrete ground in that heavy Sith armor. If Ova couldn't summon the Force powerfully enough, he would enter a defensive stance, walking towards the blaster while holding his plasma axe in a blocking position. He'd be wanting to lock up to Cord again, buying himself more time until help arrived.

Ova hoped that the backup was on the way.

If it wasn't - he might perish here, in this place.

The sword bit into the man's hand forced him into retreat as his blaster went flying. Her vision still blurred from the sparks of the plasma axe, instead she saw him through spectrums of light of the force, he was outlined in a red and black aura. The caves themselves a dull grey except the crystals which were rainbow colored their colors undetermined until they connected with a soul.

Her ears heard him yelling for back up, the fear and anger in him was growing. His fear was not something she had hoped he would live long enough to feel. The anger was to get him to exhaust himself and make mistakes, fear was dangerous. Men who were afraid were capable of terrible things; rage was blinding but fear was liberating. Liberating in that one would do anything to survive and capable of anything just to escape.

Her foot falls slowed as he felt the fear coming from the man. As she did she felt the man grab the Crystal and as it quickly started to bond with him and bleed with his feared and raged state. Coalescing into a controlled calm coming over the man, his fear and rage being turned into power.

As he yelled out to her that she would not destroy kyber crystals she came to a stop letting him retreat towards his weapon. Instead of perusing him she spun her sword in her right hand reversed her grip on it. As she did so he reached with his good hand and released a force blast full of his fear and rage from his hand. As he did she dropped to her right knee and gripped her sword in both hands. Kneeling she put her head down as she gripped the sword out in front of her the sword and metal plates of her armor scrapped across the stone leaving marks in the stone as she was pushed back.

She whispered to herself. "Release the Rage." As she did, she pumped the rage of the inner rage demon bond to her soul into her sword fiend. As moved for his blaster Fiend let loose all the energy it had consumed, and Cord had put into it. A fury of ionic lightning sprang from the sword in all directions. The lightning wouldn't harm Ova unless he had cybernetics, it would probably make the hairs stand up on his body and give him a bad taste of ozone in his mouth. Yet it would kill call electronic devices and discharge the energy in all the crystals in the nearby area making them inert for a time.

She would then look up after the energy discharged, directly at the man. Her face was stone blank as she stared at him. "You were dead the moment you chose to challenge me, kid." She said as she began to rise from her kneeling position.

Cord Starfall's lightning cracked through Ova. It struck and then destroyed the kyber crystal veins. It cracked all along every last kyber crystal. They exploded in a multicolored dust, extinguishing the only source of light in the cave. Then the rage lightning destroyed his blasters, his collapsible plasma axe, and every other thing in the cavern, leaving him disarmed. Cord's devastating attack - or rather, that of the rage demon - consumed everything around it.

Then, the rage demon consumed Ova Ziss himself.

The rage demon which Cord Starfall summoned forth was an ancient Trakata who had inhabited the Dantooine Kyber Crystal mines for millennia, and who was looking for a naive, untrained force-sensitive - just like Ova Ziss - to inhabit. Being an unaware mineral baron at the time, Ova Ziss did not know of his force sensitivity, or how to repel star weirds and other dark-sided aberrations. This naivete in the force wrote the rage demon a blank check, ensuring it could do whatever. it. wanted.

"AAAAAAAAARGH!" Ova cried out, the lightning coursing through his body. The electricity singed both his hair and his leather jacket.

Immediately, the Trakata spirit fired itself into the lightning blast, and then into Ova's skin, and then into Ova's brain. Ova seized up, his body went rigid, and he just barely caught himself on the cave wall. His vision was blurred, and it was zooming in and out like a bad news camera. Everything began to stutter. Everything began to turn red and black. Ova was seeing terrible things: visions. He was hearing voices in his head. No...not merely hearing them. He was "feeling voices", experiencing them as if he were those voices. Surely, Ova thought, the woman had tortured him into madness. He believed he was "feeling voices".

Then, he saw it: the face of a great Krayt Dragon, perhaps one that had lived in the caves eons ago. Its body was almost as big as a city; its eyes, glowing yellow and red. It lowered its great scaly head at Ova Ziss, and then it smiled to him, like he had seen an old friend. Ova wasn't sure how he felt about this dragon. He had no memories of the dragon, but the dragon certainly knew him! Then, the vision quickly faded. The Trakata spirit seemed to have wanted Ova Ziss to see the dragon. Ova did not understand what the dragon was, or why he saw a vision of its face.

Give in. Give in. Give in. The low, husky, urging voice echoed all around Ova Ziss.

Even Cord Starfall could hear the voice.

GIVE IN Give in give in give in give in give in give in give in give in. The voice echoed all over the cavern, a constant choral refrain.

Ova knew immediately what the voice was asking him to do: to give into the rage, and to hurt Cord Starfall as much as he could - right now. The only thing worse than dying to a space witch would be for that searing sensation and those frightening voices to be present forever.

Ova's whole body shook as he raised himself onto his legs. Ova's legs shook, and then he stabilized himself. He reached into his pocket, for the one thing that wasn't destroyed by the lightning: the one thing in his duty belt that was specifically designed not to be affected by EMP blasts.

A det charge.

The mineral baron's fingers curled around the det charge, and then he tossed it. As Ova heaved the det charge towards Cord, he realized with dread that he had placed too much of his anger into the throw.

Ova watches the explosive sail behind Cord, rather than in front of her. The poor placement of the blast wouldn't kill Cord Starfall - it would only injure her, at the best. At the worst, she would stumble, and then get right back up. The inactivated kyber crystals did not explode, because Cord's lightning attack rendered them inert.

Ova was certain that soon after he died, Cord would go to every unaligned kyber crystal and destroy them all in exactly the same way. Whatever rage demon was inside of Cord Starfall had propagated, and entered into Ova Ziss.

Ova realizes that he's played his last hand. He had no weapons except the purple kyber in his hand.

The rage demon, a conquering Trakata spirit that died in a horrible war, is furious with his failure to kill his opponent. The rage demon seems to claw at Ova's back, digging itself deeper into his sickly body. Ova cries out in pain, as if his back were being badly burned by fire. The crystal turns a shade of yellow, instead. Ova is heaving; the lines of his face are crumpling from his pain and anger.

Ova walks a foot towards Cord Starfall, before the agony begins again. "It's...trying...to enter...into...my skin!" The rage demon was clawing, biting, and pulling at Ova Ziss. It was intent on conquering the foes before it - even despite the searing, burning pain. The rage demon was unhindered by Ova's injured rib and torn hand. Ova was still standing, but for how much longer? Ova felt like the demon was trying to take him over.

Ova made a mistake, however. The rage demon didn't care about Ova's physical body. Its goal was not to inhabit Ova's body: its goal was to escape.

"H-help...me!" Ova was desperate indeed. His voice appeared to come out distorted, low, and husky, just like the Trakata's voice. He pleads out to anyone who could hear him, include Cord Starfall. The pain was agonizing.

Gavin didn’t know Ova Ziss. But Gavin did what Reign told him to do. Apparently, the man was a valuable asset to the Diarchy. Whatever that meant. As far as Gavin was concerned, that just meant Ova was important enough to keep breathing. And if Reign wanted him watched, Gavin would do it. It wasn’t a glamorous assignment, but at least it was something. Reign had trusted him with responsibility—even if it meant tailing some businessman through the wilderness. At least, that was all the information Gavin had cared to store away in his brain.

So when the so-called businessman turned out to be more than just a paper-pusher, Gavin's interest was piqued. He had been watching the fight from a distance, his robe casting a deep shadow over his face as he leaned against his swoop bike, arms crossed in casual observation. Ova was a hell of a lot more interesting than Gavin had initially thought, throwing himself into combat with a level of desperation and intensity that didn’t quite fit the image of a man who sat behind a desk. That being said, it was clear he was in over his head. Gavin probably should have stepped in sooner, but part of him wanted to see how it all played out.

Then the woman decided to start frying him alive with Force lightning.

Gavin sighed, cracking his knuckles as he finally stepped forward. “Alright, that’s enough of that,” he muttered to himself before making his presence known. His slow, deliberate steps echoed through the battlefield, and as he pulled back his hood, his smirk was illuminated by the ambient glow of Ova’s suffering. "Sorry, but his life isn’t yours to take." He spoke as if he were negotiating a trade, his tone calm but unwavering. He crossed his arms, his crimson eyes locking onto the woman with mild amusement. "You won the fight. Let me take him, and you can go tell everyone about how you beat him up. What do you say?"

Then Ova started screaming.

Gavin’s gaze flicked toward him, his brow furrowing as the man thrashed and yelled about something invading his skin. His voice was raw with agony, his body convulsing like he was being burned from the inside out. Gavin tilted his head, his amusement shifting into mild concern.

“Well, that’s not what you want to hear,” he said, frowning slightly. Ova’s wild-eyed desperation made it clear this wasn’t just the pain of losing a fight—something was seriously wrong. His pleads for help rang out, raw and frantic, his body twitching as if something unseen was clawing at his insides.

Gavin let out a short breath through his nose and rubbed the back of his head. “Chill out, guy. It’s fine, I’m here to help.” His words were casual, but his stance was already shifting. This was turning into something much bigger than just dragging Ova's sorry ass back to the Diarchy.

Ova stumbled into Gavin, and now, Gavin could see that Ova was in terrible shape. He was injured and bleeding; his body was covered in dirt and shrapnel. Ova pointed at the woman dressed in the Ancient Armor, who was coming closer and closer. Her face looked inhuman under the fading light of the broken kyber crystals.

"Get...that...witch!"

Ova seemed to be calming down out of the intense pain: at least enough to talk. Ova is in bad shape. His left hand is cut down to the tendon, and every few moments he coughs up blood, indicating a broken rib.

"I d-don't have...any more weapons...she's destroyed...every karking kyber...we gotta leave... We gotta leave!"

Ova finally reached for his modular blaster and pointed it at Cord, but it clicked uselessly. It was either disabled, destroyed, or damaged. The plasma axe wouldn't turn on: that, too, had shattered into pieces at the lightning strike. Ova put the jammed-up gun in his holster, trying to reach for anything he could use as a weapon in the duty belt. But, he found nothing.

This sent Ova into a spectacular rage: a rage that could possibly save his life. He felt the lightning inside of him, crackling. But, Ova was weak. He raised his right uninjured hand. The lightning shot forward in an arc. The lightning illuminated the cave for only a moment, and then it moved straight for the front of Cord's armor. It wasn't a full lightning strike - not even close. But, it would keep her away. It would keep him from dying.

The help came after all.

The help came just in time.

As she rose, she stalked towards him, she could feel it, the emptiness inside her. The Rage demon had been apart of her since she was a child, bound to her by her mothers magicks. Dark Magicks that went beyond even the witches of Dathomir, Cords mother had been a wicked woman who only sought one thing the eradication of all life. Her mother had never known love only the cruelty the universe offered and sought to end it all. It had meant even using her own children as weapons of destruction.

She moved towards Ova as the caverns went dark, the rage had overloaded the energy bursting from the lighting storm. She could feel it as the crystals began to die bursting from her lightning. It made her stop as she heard the voice screaming out in her head telling OVA to give in, that familiar voice she had silenced in her own mind so long ago. It had escaped but how, why had it escaped? She knew why she had kept the monster inside her chained for so long it had been centuries since she last let it out.

She felt for Ova in that moment a man she was about to kill, he did not deserve the agony that would befall him as the rage would consume him as it did once her. It was her burden to bear no one elses. It was her suffering; she deserved for the sins she had committed in life in its name. It would no doubt rack his mind scrape at it flooding it with the tens of thousands of souls it had destroyed. The visions of the worlds it had annihilated and extinguished of life.

It wasn't meant for other men or women; her body could handle it. Even then it had taken her hundreds of years to control it. Even the few times she had died she had been strong enough to keep it bound to her and not let it free. Now here it was in someone else, and her orange eyes just watched in horror what was happening to the man before.

It stood up more monster than man in control, it was not a beast that could be easily tamed it only knew murder and carnage. She knew now she was facing a dead man about to be consume by her demon. She stared down her cross to bare but before she could move to strike a det charge flew through the air over shooting it target. The det charge exploding behind her crumbling the cavern entrance her and ova had entered through.

The force of the explosion knocked her forward and she slammed into a nearby cave wall hard. Her head slammed against the stone, her forehead getting gashed open by splinters of destroyed crystals. Her left shoulder dislocated and some of her ribs were definitely bruised or worse broken. As she crumpled to the cave floor in her heavy armor. The air in her lungs escaping the wind getting knocked out of her.

Heavy breathing followed as she pushed herself up to crawling position pain arching through her body from the rib and left shoulder damage. Her eyes looked up to see another figure, just a kid younger than the man she was fighting entering the fray. He screamed telling she won the fight and that his death wasn't hers to take.

She got to her eyes and looked at them both blood running down her face from the gash in her forehead. She saw the younger man's attention turn the older man. "I would stay away from him, what's inside of him will kill anyone and everything it can come into contact with!" She yelled out to Gavin Vel Gavin Vel as Ova rose to his feet and pointed a blaster at Cord it just clicking dead.

"Nice try my oldest friend." She spoke to the demon inside Ova. "You forget though that host will be consumed, it won't last. He will become a husk and die, the Magicks that bound you to me made me the perfect vessel. And my mother is dead so she can't make you another one or fix that one for you." She watched, feeling the monsters rage rising in Ova. As he reached his hand up to her, her right hand reaching for her sword and pulling up from where she knelt.

The sword was heavy in her hands as the red lighting sprang forth from Ova's hand her sword came up to absorb it the hard lighting crackled off the sword, it was a lot cord could feel the sith steel heating up all the way to her right hand burning into it searing the all the way into he skin of her right hand. The Rage Demon wanted to teach her a lesson for not letting it control her for so long.

"You will have to do better than that." Slowly and painfully Cord pushed herself to her feet. "To you the man inside, I can take the demon from you but if you let it in it will kill you in time. It took me being a sith, then jedi, and a witch to learn to fully control it and contain it. My body was also imbued to hold it but the one who did it my mother is dead, she died on Exegol and she didn't share her secrets." She wasn't sure if the man inside was listening she knew the demon was racking him with unimaginable pain. She needed him to listen, her eyes turned to his friend once again. "I won't need kill him the thing inside him will do that, unless I take it from him. I didn't come here for glory of combat or to gloat about some win. I came here to stop these crystals from being used as weapons, your friend just got in the way. That said I won't let a man die like he is right now. I am going to need your help to restrain him." Cord could kill with out mercy but she wasn't cruel and the fate that Ova was going through she wished on no one.

Cord Starfall said:
"I would stay away from him: what's inside of him will kill anyone and everything it can come into contact with!"

"My name is Scillio, and you would do well to remember!"

Ova Ziss was NOT himself anymore. The Rage Demon, Scillio, had fully taken over. Scillio leveled the blaster at Cord, aiming for the middle of her forehead. The blaster clicked uselessly, denying Scillio again. 'Ova' hurled the blaster against the wall. Not only did it break, but it bust into flames. Scillio must be a powerful space wizard. Ova Ziss's entire demeanour and personality had changed, right in front of Cord and Gavin's eyes. Ova, who was now Darth Scillio, was twitching as he moved slowly and steadily towards Cord.

"CORD STARFALL!" The Rage Demon, Scillio, pointed aggressively at her. He was fully inside of Ova Ziss. Then, Scillio growled.

"I've got YOU to thank, for giving me a fresh new body. Bwahahahaha !"

Scillio, in Ova's voice, cackled. His inhuman, growling, angry voice echoed in the dark cavern.

Cord Starfall said:
[...] "To you, the man inside: I can take the demon from you but if you let it in, it will kill you in time." [...]

Scillio stopped advancing towards Cord, as if he were rebuked. Ova Ziss's expression seemed confused. For a moment, it seemed like Cord Starfall's words got through to Ova Ziss. Ova was trapped inside with the demon. Then, Ova's face changes again. The Rage Demon Snarls. The Rage Demon spoke in a roaring, inhuman voice. "This human will only die if I let him. It is I who has won this battle, and I am claiming my prize. Not even your ancient space witch alchemy will be as powerful as the Rakata Empire !"

Cord Starfall said:
[...] "It took me being a Sith, then Jedi, and a Witch to learn to fully control it and contain it. My body was also imbued to hold it, but the one who did it - my mother - is dead: she died on Exegol, and she didn't share her secrets."

"You're right. All of those secrets - and now, you don't know where to find them. It all went according to the plan." Scillio grins and snarls. Suddenly, he stops. Something taps the edge of Ova Ziss's leather boot. It was Cord's Mask of Sins. The Rage Demon looks down, and then picks up Cord's mask at his feet. Scillio would recognize this mask, and he held it at eye level. Scillio was reading Cord's newest sins. He chuckles, and then cackles. Scillio tosses the mask at Cord's feet, showing great disrespect towards her. "Keep your mask, Cord Starfall. There will be many more planets destroyed. Exegol was the beginning, not the end."

Scillio lowers his head at Cord, and then at Gavin. He announces his sinister intentions, with the glow of a red kyber crystal pulsing behind him. He is slowly advancing on Cord now.

"I will annihilate the useless planets of this galaxy, and all of the mouth-breathing iterations of eternal failure that lie upon them. Your artefacts are useless to me now, witch, when I can have a powerful force-sensitive body all to myself."

The Rage Demon growled and pounded his fist on his chest.

"You were right to say that I will devour you, your friend, and everything else in this cave. I can feed in this cave for an eternity!"

Cord Starfall said:
"[...] That said, I won't let a man die, like he is right now. I am going to need your help to restrain him."

The Rage Demon Scillio snarled. "YOU'LL DO NO SUCH THING!"

Darth Scillio extends his hands out, assuming an unarmed combat stance. "I know that you won't shed that armor, Cord Starfall. And I know that neither of you, will be able to stop me."

With a final snarl, the Rage Demon conjured a red bolt of lightning in his hands. Darth Scillio's powerful space wizardry allowed him to create two arcs. The red electricity tried to electrocute both Cord and Gavin. It would take all of their mental and physical fortitude to repel and to withstand the red force lightning. As the two defenders held against the lightning (or were struck by it), it would arc all around them, destroying more kyber crystal ore deposits. The glow of the kybers disappears, and the only thing illuminating the cave would be Gavin's lightsaber, their equipment, and the lightning.
