Staff Faction Blog Propaganda - Guidance

It's roleplay.

It's in character.

I agree sometimes the lines are blurred. They're most easily seen when the person is just a straight up bad writer. Bad at roleplay, bad at constructing narratives, bad at writing dialogue or creating an atmosphere in which you WANT to keep reading and it doesn't feel like a chore. Sometimes, that can be completely OOC. Especially if its powergaming and not giving your opponents a way to respond. Especially if it doesn't roll with the punches, only likes giving them. Especially if it doesn't adopt the "Yes, and?" mentality that drives every good roleplayer out there.

"Yes, and?"

It's not a quote the singleplayers or the self-inserts are familiar with or understand. But all the greats do. "Yes, and?" It's the rallying cry of the roleplayer. It means yeah, I wrote what you posted, I'm going to roll with it. Okay, "yes, and?"ed in response by reading what I wrote and rolling with it. Zero OOC planning or discussion involved. Just two guys, gals or everything inbetween doing their best at improv.

"Yes, and?"

I've seen like 4-5 reports since the new year about blogs, maybe more, maybe less. I think one was actually legit because the blog was just straight up OOC and bad writing and honestly, that's pretty toxic if we didn't address it. But that doesn't mean you can't be MEAN if you're a Rebel fighting the Empire. That doesn't mean you can't be MAD or MEAN if your people don't agree with the policies of the Galactic Alliance. If your writing is good, there will be very little interpretation of "this feels OOC."

And if I see another report, on god, that says "I'm reporting this propaganda because it made me sad OOC" I will descend from the roleplay rafters like I'm Ron Artest in the final quarter of a Pistons game. These reports on Propaganda blogs are getting dumber and dumber and I'm just gonna start instructing the SWRP Staff Team to ignore all of them and we'll go Wild West because I won't let the pearl clutchers take this bastion of free roleplay away from us. I've catered to the nice, the kind, the soft self-inserts before but my dudes, this is the line. It's roleplay.

Don't powergame. Don't be a dick. Keep it RP. Don't make it personal. If you make it personal OOC you're an absolute loser. Huge loser.

Literally if you're talking smack about someone in a discord today because of RP, you're a massive loser.

If you report a blog because it made you feel sad, you're not a loser but you're way too pearl clutchy. Loosen up, buttercup.

If you powergame, loser.

If you roleplay and ask "Yes, and?"

Huge winner. Big W. All the legends have it in common.

"Yes, and?"

Every roleplayer worth looking up to and listening to.

"Yes, and?"
