Brothers, Sisters, and Everyone in Between!
First of all, I wanted to start this little blurb off with a thank you to this Faction’s member base. I know we’ve been a bit inactive lately, what with me busy between school, and work. However, most of you stuck around - for whatever reason I dare not speculate. For that alone, I thank you. The Golden Company, nor its future incarnations would be nothing more than just a vanity project without you. So, from the bottom of my blackened heart - all of you have my deepest gratitude.
Secondly, I suppose we’re well overdue for an update of sorts. For those of us that have been living under a rock, the Golden Company has cemented itself as the best Mercenary company in the Galaxy. We’ve been hired by the likes of four to five Major factions, and many of them have semi-active to active retainer contracts with some of our members. We’ve also been apart of almost every Invasion for the last two years since the Company was OOCly founded by yours truly. It’s also led us to garner a nasty reputation for heavily contributing towards the Victory of whatever Faction secures our services. So, to those of you jumping into Invasions wearing our sigils - I salute you.
Every Victory you earn or contribute too spreads our reputation and increases the glory your Character receives.
Outside Invasions, I plan to wrap up our Ison thread, as I seriously dropped the ball with that storyline. In addition to that, I’ll seek to carry on with our Eshan campaign - which will see my Character take the title of Supreme Sun Guardian. Something that the fluidity of the website has allowed me to claim while my muse for that thread is at an all-time low. I’ll seek to respond to any and all private threads that I’ve been apart of, and progress those storylines - as they are just as important as the ones created for this Faction. To those of you that have been patient with me while I try to get my stuff in order? You honour me, and I hope to return the favour shortly.
When it comes to the Faction itself? We’re carrying on very well, with scraps of lore and technology being added to our asset list and archive regularly. Sadly, we are lacking in threads to generate activity. That’s something I’d consider to be my fault as I tend to get tunnel vision whenever Invasions are being tossed around. Once this recent bout ends, and I’ve caught up with my owed posts, I’ll see about drumming up some activity. Naturally, I’ll toss up a poll in the OOC section of the forums, and ask about it in our discord server, but I’d like to see what y’ all would be interested in.
Raiding another planet or Faction for slaves? Hunting wild beasts on the moon of Sojourn (this time with me, or someone else writing a big beasty)? Launching an expedition into the unknown as an escort to some technicians as they seek out some lost technology? Or simply having a gathering at one of our many recruiting stations for a more relaxing change of pace? The skies are endless, and our freeform sandbox ensures that everything has its place within the grand narrative.
While I’ve probably exploited my Canadian politeness, I simply can’t thank the lot of you enough. Let’s make the Golden Company, and the subsequent iterations into something memorable and exciting together.
