Factory Opening and Patch Notes

To catch some up on the order of things Factory closed allowing us to not have to worry about the factory and for others to not have to worry about it as well. Now that everyone is refreshed and ready to start the new year, the factory opens. I look forward to everything everyone is going to be submitting. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=13.3333px]A few notes for this new year in the factory, make sure to check through your submissions making sure that each of these are checked off. They will be added into the rules as well, but if something is missed, please always refer to this announcement. [/SIZE]

• [SIZE=13.3333px]Technology that has a restricted material (Beskar & Phrik), will no longer require a ‘restricted material’ development thread as long as the item that is being submitted is labeled as UNIQUE. This does not cover any development threads required for what the item is. Other restricted materials will be added through the year. [/SIZE]
• [SIZE=13.3333px]The Armor Rating 9 & 10 will require the submission to be unique. These armor ratings are considered very strong and are usually[/SIZE][SIZE=13.3333px] dealing with unique items that should be restricted to Player Characters only. [/SIZE]
• [SIZE=13.3333px]Innovation Awards - These awards will be rewarded on merit from the Factory Judges to writers new to the factory (A new “character” account does not count), this can happen once and once only. This award will be a 10 post development “get out of dev free” card. These awards are rare and should not be expected. Congrats to anyone who obtains them[/SIZE]

That seems like a bit of a middle finger to everyone who's used the factory before this.

Would it actually be an issue to open it up to everyone?

I think you're looking too into it and assuming it's meant to be rude, because it's really not. It's meant to help entice more people to try the factory out who have not in the past.

It's a 10 post "wow that was really interesting" award to someone new, so no it's not open to everyone. Also it's not even going to happen every time a new person posts in the factory - it's a rare award and has to "wow the factory judge".

The Factory can be especially challenging for newer members. The innovation awards are designed to encourage them in a small but tangible way. We want to inspire newer members to try hard and get comfortable with the Factory. Basically, this is a 'be happy for someone else' thing - the kind of principle that can actually be useful in all kinds of settings, from the Factory to faction leadership.

Just to note, any new members that might need help with a factory sub, I am always open. I have made slugthrowers, blasters of all size and shapes, hand canons, armor, hand to hand weaponry, Alchemy, Force imbued items, original alloys, ships, vehicles, companies, basically all of it.
