- Insight - The FAE/S-08 allows a shooter to see targets within smoke, behind walls, and through other obstructions. Should the power of the weapon in question be high enough, such a target could even be engaged with a varying degree of success.
- Data Stream - The feed from the sight and its sensor data can be projected into an HUD or even directly fed into the mind of a droid. A shooter with augmented reflexes could quite possibly aim and fire a weapon equipped with the FAE/S-08 accurately without directly staring down the sight.
- Ghost Sight - The FAE/S-08 enhances all of the onboard imaging modules, targeting systems, and sensors with ghostwaves and low feedback technologies. These systems render the sensor emissions nigh-impossible to trace and detect, making it significantly more difficult for sensor warning receivers, EM sensors, counterdetectives, and similar systems to register or trace sensor and scanning pulses. In essence, targets may not know that they are within the crosshairs, until it is too late.
- All Weather - The FAE/S-08 has environmentally-shielded systems and is just as functional underwater as it is within an atmosphere or in the void of space.
- Catch Up - The FAE/S-08 is often said to be capable of making a good shooter more consistent, capable of hitting their shots while under pressure. Unfortunately, it can not compensate for a lack of fundamentals or skill.
- Mechanical Mutation - Like any piece of technology, the FAE/S-08 is susceptible to Mechu-deru and other technology-corrupting powers. A talented practitioner of such esoteric sorceries could induce a power drainage or some other system failure that might compromise the optic entirely or demand precious time to fix, forcing the shooter to make do without.
- Surge - While it has anti-Ion/EMP defenses, the FAE/S-08’s functions are entirely electronic in nature. As such, an EMP or Ion-based discharge that overwhelms the sight’s defenses could very well be crippling.
An advanced combat optic system, the FAE/S-08 Small Arms Optical System is a series of electro-sights that offer a suite of features and technologies designed to assist a shooter in acquiring and engaging targets, especially under demanding, non-ideal shooting conditions. In this regard, the FAE/S-08 might be counted as one of the most advanced optical systems on the market. However, in doing so, the designers made sure not to sacrifice utility features which make the scope reliable in dirty field conditions.
Ultimately, the FAE/S-08 is hoped to become an enduring, reliable product for First United Astral Engineering and its contracted customers, leaving little on the table in terms of advanced technology and reliability.
