SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Oversight and Administration
  • Information Storage and Processing
  • Power Systems
  • Data and Information Security
  • Electronic Protective Systems
    • Division-Unification Signal Transmission
      • Signals are broken into fragmented packets and unified at the receiving end. The sensor system breaks a long, continuous signal into short, randomized bursts. These burst—fragments—are time-stamped, frequency-shifted, and / or phase-modulated differently. They are then transmitted in non-sequential order. (e.g., Fragment 3 → Fragment 1 → Fragment 2). Some fragments may use different waveforms or frequencies. For reassembly, the sensor receiver utilizes droid brain(s) to reorder the fragments (utilizing embedded timestamps and metadata) and reconstructs the original signal by stitching the fragments together. As a result, it is effectively impossible for rogue piggyback jamming signals to remain attached, as these are lost during fragmentation.
      • Signals may also be coded, for interrogation purposes. A secret signature is appended to each ping, so that only returns with the correct code are trusted. Any echo lacking the expected temporal or Doppler profile is treated as an ECM artifact. This allows the system to filter out hidden or piggyback signals.
    • Adaptive Waveform Modulation
      • Continuously alters the waveform and frequency of sensor emissions in a randomized pattern, making it nearly impossible for enemy ECM systems to lock onto or piggyback on the signals. Notably resists frequency-based jamming and piggybacking signals.
    • Phase-Conjugate Jamming Cancellation
      • Detects the phase and frequency of incoming jamming signals and generates a phase-conjugated (inverse) signal. When combined with the jamming signal, the two waves cancel each other out through destructive interference. This has a significant chance of nullifying jamming, without impeding original sensor operation. The system can also counter the more common and imperfect models of dedicated energy receptor projectors by generating a phase-conjugated (inverse) version of the DERP's energy absorption field, effectively cancelling it out. However, this is not guaranteed to work against rare and advanced DERP models.
    • Computer Brain ECM Threat Analysis
      • Utilizes trained droid brain(s) to constantly analyze sensor data in live, instantaneous fashion, identifying patterns associated with spoofing, jamming, or piggyback signals. The system then immediately adapts its countermeasures. These trained droid brain(s) can also recognize patterns associated with sensor blinds and disguised signals, dynamically adapting to new disguising techniques in real-time. They can also identify and isolate noise from legitimate sensor signals, adjusting to changing jamming frequencies and patterns in the process.
      • For instance, the trained droid brain(s) may look for inconsistent patterns across scans: repeated blips that don’t move physically (chaff decoys) or echoes that fail Doppler/velocity checks are automatically discarded.
    • Pulse Compression Techniques
      • Sensor pulses are compressed into shorter, denser bursts, making them resistant to noise and easier to distinguish from rogue jamming signals.
    • Resonance Frequency Overload
      • Identifies the resonant frequency of the incoming jamming signal and generates a counter-signal at the same frequency. By amplifying this frequency, the jamming signal is driven to overload and self-destruct.
STRENGTHS
  • Clarity: The FAE/S-15 is designed as an answer to the ECM-heavy conditions of the modern battlespace. Its systems ensure sensor clarity to its host, penetrating through disguising, blindings, spoofing, jamming, and other means of electronic warfare. This ensures the accuracy of weapons, sensors, and targeting systems in demanding conditions, without having to resort to methods such as home-on-jam, which are not always accurate or precise. The ECCM measures can also be applied to counter comms and holo technology jamming.
WEAKNESSES
  • Technological Corruption: Left unprotected, the system is susceptible to mechu-deru and other technology-twisting powers. A talented practitioner of such esoteric sorceries could induce data corruption or some other failure that might compromise the system entirely or demand precious time to reboot, leaving the operator vulnerable.
  • Nexus: The computer brain module(s) are the center of the system and provide critical functionality in ECM threat analysis and other applications. Disabling them may very well compromise the entire functionality of the suite.
DESCRIPTION
With the proliferation of ECM and jamming systems, First United Astral Engineering recognized the need to produce a dedicated ECCM system capable of restoring clarity in the ECM-heavy conditions that characterize the modern battlespace. Although home-on-jam anti-jamming methods were refined to a bleeding edge, the company knew that such methods could only work to a certain extent and were often inaccurate or unreliable, especially when multiple sources of jamming were present. A dedicated system was needed to restore clarity, so that weapons were not impeded by jamming. The FAE/S-15 EPM Array (Electronic Protective Measures) was the answer to this problem.

Combining a suite of electronic protective systems, the EPM array offers unparalleled ECM defense. Utilizing adaptive waveform modulation, pulse compression techniques, resonance frequency overload, phase-conjugate jamming cancellation, division-unification signal transmission, and ECM threat analysis, the array is designed to filter out, nullify, mitigate, cancel, recognize, and adapt to many sources of jamming or spoofing.

All in all, the FAE/S-15 EPM Array is hoped to break new ground, making First United Astral Engineering one of the few companies in the galaxy with dedicated anti-ECM systems on the market.
