- Ironclad - Rampart units have a durable armored chassis proving resilient against standard blaster fire, heightened when in Configuration: Sentry or Configuration: Tank.
- Reconfigure - Rampart units are capable of rapidly switching between three unique modes, all of which having their own set of strengths and weaknesses.
- Configuration: Recon - A Rampart unit's standard mode. It is fully mobile, bipedal, and outfitted with a DC-15S blaster carbine that fires steady bursts at medium range.
- Configuration: Sentry - A Rampart unit's most powerful mode. It sacrifices its mobility to become a stationary powerhouse, using its gatling gun to unleash a hail of blasts.
- Configuration: Tank - A Rampart unit's special mode. After charging, it transforms into a very brief tank on wheeled treads, using a powerful long-range cannon to to demolish areas.
- Self-Repair - Rampart units can switch its free arm to a thinly tipped appendage designed to repair its damages. This can be used in all modes with the exception of Configuration: Tank, and a unit may only perform repairs on itself in brief spurts of time or they risk overheating themselves.
- Data Scan - Rampart units can use the very same appendage to quickly scan the data banks of other droids if exposed to their memory files. This is possible on a droid that has been destroyed or deactivated so long as their memory banks remained unharmed - doing so will give the Rampart unit the last memory leading up to its deactivation.
- Cyclops - Rampart units only have a single thinly made photoreceptor. They are unable to perform advanced scans and tracking, and make it so an enemy can swiftly move past them if fast enough.
- Sitting Duck - Rampart units are at their weakest in their most mobile form, Configuration: Recon. Their most powerful, Configuration: Sentry, sacrifices their mobility in its entirety. This makes Rampart units incredibly easy to overwhelm and leaves them as pathetic target practice for snipers.
- Blind Spot - A Rampart unit's core is stored inside itself during Recon and Tank modes. In Sentry form, however, it is forced to be pushed outward, leaving a brightly glowing blue energy core barely protected by glass, positioned behind it. This leaves Ramparts entirely susceptible to flanking, as a single blaster fire to its core from behind will destroy it immediately.
- Recharge Rates - A Rampart unit is only capable of using Configuration: Tank after an hour of charging. While they're capable of charging it idly on the battlefield, Configuration: Tank only lasts for 10 seconds before needing to be recharged again. In addition to its firepower in Tank form being weaker than that of Sentry mode, this means a Rampart will have to make every shot count. A unit's healing probe is also tied to a cool down system, allowing repairs for minutes at a time before needing to recharge. While a Rampart unit can proceed with the repairs and ignore its recharge time, this can prove fatal as it can put too much stress on its internal motors and overheat its core, resulting in the unit destroying itself.
Designed as an ehanced battle droid, SST-series combat units were manufactured by First United Astral Engineering as a means to create a sturdier and lethal model to act as both security and military combatants.
The first of its kind, Rampart units (nicknamed after their fortification of areas) are a line of reconfigurating and rapidly transforming droid capable of switching between utilities in order to take advantage of different battle situations and environments. Completely reprogrammable and blindly subservient, Rampart units are a direct upgrade in military droid lines, with a chassis incredibly resistant to blaster fire and three rotations of mounted firearms. Coupled with a probe to repair its own injuries, Rampart units prove to be effective and powerful combatants to lead the front lines of war.
