SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Relativistic Velocity - Energy torpedoes are fired at relativistic velocities, making them quite difficult to evade, even at extended ranges.
  • Redundancy - Equipped with its own targeting system, power generation units, and various safety systems, the Malmourral is a highly redundant design, allowing it to function for some time even if its connection to the host vessel’s other systems is compromised.
  • Robust - Thick armor plating lends the Malmourral a stalwart defensive capacity, making the weapon difficult, but never impossible to disable or destroy in a given spatial engagement.
  • Sniper - The Malmourral is a powerful starship artillery weapon with a high capacity for destruction, being notable for its armor piercing capabilities and extreme energy output. It is an ideal weapon for long-ranged spatial engagements, being capable of connecting with targets far outside of standard battlefield ranges.
WEAKNESSES
  • Surged - Although it possesses some mitigating and protective measures, EMP and Ion discharges with a large enough power quotient and a close enough proximity can overload the Malmourral’s systems and defenses, rendering it unable to fire for some time.
  • Heat Management - Firing more than two torpedoes in rapid succession from a single barrel will send the system into a mandatory heat discharge protocol, during which the weapon can not be fired for an extended period of time. In essence, the Malmourral is capable of very temporal rapid fire, but salvos of more than two shots from a single barrel are virtually guaranteed to immediately overheat the weapon.
  • Mechu-deru - An unspoken weakness of any complicated and advanced technology, the Malmourral is vulnerable to the dark sorceries of Mechu-deru and other technology-corrupting powers. As such, a skilled practitioner of such arts can quickly disable the weapon, provided that they have a direct line of sight to it.
  • Heat Vision - Unfortunately, due to the extreme amounts of heat it generates, fusion plasma is very much the antithesis of stealth. As such, the Malmourral presents a massive signature on thermal or electromagnetic sensors, which may linger for some time after the weapon is fired.
  • Critical Shock - Given the Malmoural’s high recoil, its shock absorbers are a critical component. In the event that this system suffers damage or disability, firing the weapon will likely destabilize its mountings, rendering it unusably inaccurate and possibly, unable to fire until extensive repairs are executed.
DESCRIPTION
Conceptualized as a starship artillery weapon, the FAE/SW-06 “Malmourral” Super Heavy Fusion Plasma Artillery Cannon is essentially an upscaled, upmodeled, and updated Aster Effervescence, designed as a super heavy capital grade weapon. As one of First United Astral Engineering’s first capital grade weapon designs, the Malmourral was a somewhat rushed project, ordered to be utilized on future Eternal Imperial warships and refits after a lucrative contract offer. As such, it borrows elements from First United Astral Engineering’s fighter grade weapon designs, albeit adapted to meet the demands of a much larger platform.

The addition of armor to a weapon system was a first for the company. Given the Malmourral’s size, the addition of such was considered paramount. Given their relative inexperience, the technicians were experimenting with incorporating different armor materials late into the design phase, before settling on duranium as an outer plating, with a quadanium-chromium composite as an inner layer.

In spite of these setbacks and the design team’s mild inexperience, the Malmoural passed its initial trials and is hoped to be an effective weapon system for Eternal Imperial warships and refits to come.
