Family, Duty, Honor

Despite her asking, her uncle - father - it didn't matter, he was both - refused to tell her exactly why they were going to Shogun, or the significance of the world beyond its place in Mandalorian spirituality. Instead he hid his reasoning behind sly glances in her direction and amused smirks, something she'd become used to in the years since he'd begun raising her.

The tales and history of their people she’d been raised on told her what the planet had meant to their predecessors, and Rih could only guess this journey was for something of the same purpose. He’d certainly picked the time for it, given all that had rocked their culture of late, from how far their people had fallen to when Manda’yaim itself had been lost to the Sith.

That hadn’t stopped him from organizing some kind of family journey, and now she was on a ship along with her aunt, uncle and their children, having been raised by and among them for as long as she could remember. She tried hard not to think of her father, or how he’d gone to the manda before she’d really gotten the chance to know him. This was her family now.

“I know the Indomitable and Ultimate went here. I remember the stories. You have to give me more than just ‘because I said so.’”

”Because I said so,” the Warlord said with a smirk, not really answering his niece’s question with an answer that was valid to her standards. There was a reason why he had brought them to Shogun, an ancient world rich of Mandalorian history since the days of Mand’alor the Indomitable; though he wouldn’t spoil the answer. That would come to her by itself with time and patience, something he understood from her as he wasn’t one to enjoy time bringing the answers to his questions in his younger days. ”Learning a thing or two about patience will help you out in the long run, little one. Take it from a man that’s breathed longer than you. I, too, was like that at around your age and some things would’ve been better for me had I follow that teaching.”

Really the main purpose for this journey was about spirituality given the recent unfortunate events that had shadowed over the Mandalorians as a whole. It no longer held any significance what was one’s philosophical views on being a son or daughter of Mandalore, not in these times. It wasn’t a surprise many would band together in these dark times to prepare to reclaim the birthplace of their culture no matter their differences. Vilaz and his clan, unlike others, didn’t face any oppression from the Sith after Vilaz’s service to the Empire during their assault on Mandalore. For that he and his clan were rewarded handsomely, earning the right to govern a majority of Concord Dawn’s lands and have the want to claim lands on Mandalore along with other riches.

But was it worth it?

He could feel a wound in his soul ever since that day and it wasn’t just him, but many in his clan felt that emotion.

Perhaps Shogun would help ease that tension and show him the way.

”Though I’ll give you a hint. This journey is meant for all of us and I hope it can help us in some sort of fashion, we’ll just have to see for ourselves.”
