SCARIF - Getting To Know You
Just after the events of A Neat Trick

Another signal went out across the Verd channel. Only, this time, it was sent by him with directions to Scarif.

Verun was nice as a “hey, hi, how ya doin’?” type deal. It was good to catch up and know that most of the people he did know were ok after the Fall. Better, to meet people he hadn’t before.

But, there were many to talk to and many more to get comfortable talking to. And, knowing his father, many many more that he didn’t even know about. That was the problem with large families. So many people to keep up with, so little time.

While he waited in the spaceport for whoever would arrive from his little signal, he sat, watched the screens, ate churros and pepper pretzels, and sipped at a vial of Raava for the hell of it. He laughed and made small talk with the staff and the tourists. Scarif itself was hot and tropical, mostly. He’d had enough of the heat on Verun. He wasn’t exactly doing cartwheels trying to get back in the heat again. Heat was draining and it made him feel tired and sluggish if there was too much.

Originally, he came to Scarif for a little get-away on the beach. But, as always, responsibility called. People called, over his comm. He wanted nothing more than to bury it in the sand a few days ago. Or better yet, toss it into one of those active volcanoes around here. It wouldn’t have been a half bad idea… if he had a replacement for it. Roaming around space without a personal comm wasn’t exactly the most appealing option ever.

For now, he was content with his food and whatever happened to flash onto this channel of the HoloNet.

Right now, it was an ice-boarding race.

Scarif, was a lot closer to her actual goal of visiting the Enclave and exploring Mandalorian culture. After visiting her grandfather on Verun, the young woman planned on spending time with Uncle Clunk, Zellen Verd to explore more of whatever it was her Sith Heritage had to offer her. Although, honestly, she wouldn't go around advertising the Sith or even Sith abilities. Even if, she couldn't help the stock she had come from. At least the trip to Scarif from Verun wouldn't be too bad.
It wasn't as bad as Naboo to Verun.
She hadn't expected that spending time with Uncle Clunk would be so soon. Artemis smirked and pinged back to him that she would be arriving soon. Scarif at least had a beach to call its own, even if it was really just a graveyard at this point. The bucket of bolts she called home still held together neatly, while she scarfed down fresh rations. At the very least her grandfather had ensured she had something more than instant noodles and dried meat on the way to wherever she was going.
A while later she was docking the ship at a starport.
"At the very least there's a civilized aspect to this place, and not my life is feudal or whatever the hell grampa was going for." She said mostly to herself, as she once more pinged her uncle to her arrival.

SCARIF - Getting To Know You

Beep.

An alert from Artemis, the one that called his father gramps on Verun. It was a shocker for sure. He wasn’t exactly sure of how to approach her. One minute, he was good. And the next, he became an uncle to someone that seemed to only be a bit younger than him. That was weird.

It had been a very fast week, to say the least.

Beep.

And she was here. He sighed as he stood and looked to see the last race end in a literal landslide victory, the racer in first just edged out in speed by the racer previously in third. Welp, there went 100 credits. Not much, but good lil rake for a spaceport on Scarif of all places. He shot back the rest of the vial of Raava and walked towards the elevators that led up to the main floor that he was on.

He stood by a seating area. She definitely couldn’t miss the hybrid standing over 7 feet tall. Part of him believed that led to the name she’d given him, Uncle Clunk. Not that she was wrong. He did take up a lot of space for a Near-Human.

Brown eyes scanned the hall for a glimpse of her from the crowds. Advantages of being tall, seeing over other people when you needed to. He checked the time at the bottom of the screen on the wall and continued looking. Another family reunion.

When he finally did spot her, he waved and gave a half smile. "Hey. How's it goin'? Trip wasn't too bad?"

Artemis definitely did not miss Uncle Clunk.
She had no idea how much of a shock her existence was to him, if it was of any consolation. The existence of uncles and aunts was a complete shock to her, but she took it in stride. Her mother had prepared her for the inevitable of running into "numerous siblings" that she had, thanks to her grandfather's prolific ways.
"Not as bad as my trip to Verun, I think I've had enough instant noodles and dried meat to last me two lifetimes," Artemis remarked with a smile as she greeted her uncle. "At least now we'll get a little more time to get to know one another, Uncle Clunk." She who decided that everyone in their family was going to have a nickname one way or the other. Blue, was Rann Thress Rann Thress and Red was Aselia Verd Aselia Verd for starters, at least until she decided to give them different nicknames.
She then added, "at the very least there's a nice view here."
"And not, let's play feudal life simulator 9000," not that she didn't appreciate Verun. "I mean Verun is beautiful."
It wasn't Naboo and it wasn't home.
"So, I'm eager to go see what passes for a beach around here, before I keep going into Enclave territory to explore the ol' ooga-booga beskar roots."

Inside, he grimaced. Instant noodles and dried meat. Sounds like his Apprentice days. Yeesh, a small shudder passed through the man. “I feel for ya, kid. Would ya like some actual food before we get outta here? They actually have some pretty good options, for a spaceport.” Kid felt weird. But, he’d said it and unfortunately he didn’t have a time machine to put the words back in his mouth.

Verun is nice, but it’s cruel. And so are the locals, I’ve heard.

He waved her on and started to walk towards the entrance he’d entered on arrival. “So, are you legal? We can get drinks if ya are. And, if not, one drink never hurt anybody. And uh, whose kid are ya? I’m sure you know I have way too many siblings to keep track of. Old man was a jackrabbit in his younger years.” Ivum let out an easy laugh.

The beaches here are really nice, so is the water. If you can look past the history of it, I guess. Scenic enough, warm but not Verun warm. Jungles are pretty too, if you like hiking. Plus, there’s shade.

Seemed there’d never be a dull moment with his niece around and part of him didn’t mind it. It was good to relax and take it easy every now and then.

"Real food would be great, maybe I can get some of those dehydrated ice cream packs while we're here," she commented thinking about what it might take to stock her ship for a moment. Temporarily distracted at best, Artemis walked in step with Uncle Clunk. "I'll take whatever options these guys have."
Verun, what in the Force was her grandfather thinking? "Why... why did grampa decide that way out in the middle of nowhere was fine? I mean we could've gone to Kathol or somewhere in the Outback where there's something resembling civilization and fizzyglug." She made a mental note to check on local stores to see if they had the carbonated beverage. That's when she heard the question legal, Artemis replied matter-of-factly, "legal on Naboo, legal in space."

"I belong to... Amaya, my mom's Amaya Cardei-Verd. Grampa's result of a one night with the infamous Ajira Crrdei." She at least knew that much but didn't realize that her grandfather had been so... Prolific in his youth. "I think that's the understatement of the century, uncle Clunk."
Ah, the beaches, "it's a nice break from the dull hum of my ship's interior. Make a note for grampa, next time he goes into exile, he needs to pick a tropical world with a beach, damn."

The ice cream here is delicious. You’ll definitely have to get some for the flight out. The Soul Noodles here are to die for. I’ve had at least 10 bowls in the past few days…

Not exactly the picture of health, but it’s worth it for vacation.” He continued walking through the space port and the next question gave him a bit of pause. His eyebrows furrowed a bit and he let out a soft sigh. “When all you’ve known for years has been destroyed, you seek a new place. As you’re soon to do yourself. They were forced out and I believe that they simply fled and looked for a place that wouldn’t cause them further harm. Even though the remnants met resistance on Verun, they were able to survive and set up camp. That is all that they need right now. Stability, I mean...It would be a great question to ask ‘im if ya ever get the chance to.

He wasn’t too fond of Verun himself, but it was some kind of start. Any start at this point would be a good one. Though, Artemis was right… that was a vast understatement for his father and likely one for the history books, if he was telling the truth. “I’ll be sure to let him know to pick a better spot next time.

Ivum chuckled. “So, beaches first then? After you’ve eaten?

"Ten?!" Artemis remarked in surprise, "Uncle Clunk..." slight admonishment, "that's... a lot."
Said the girl who lived on instant noodles and dried meat, however; not as a choice but because there wasn't a lot she could cook in her bucket of bolts so she took what she could get. Although, instant, self-rising bread was a thought, and one she intended to explore later. "But, if it's that good then I am down to try." The port was like any other port she had seen outside of Naboo thus far, crowded, stinky, and loud. It all made her miss Naboo's refinement and need for hygienics.
"I'll save that question for the next family reunion, or nation creation committee meeting," she added with a tone of sarcasm however with regards to Darth Metus Darth Metus who knew when one or the other was likely to happen next! Artemis supposed she could understand the feeling of having to flee, or being forced out. Artemis kept a small inside smile to herself, Amaya her mother had been great at keeping them in place on Naboo. A wistful sigh she supposed it was, what it was and undoubtedly all the worlds that were once protected would find themselves alone in the galaxy.

"Food, beaches, and then maybe some one-on-one Sith training, or at least the darkside 101."
