- Advanced Rylith Power Cell: The standard power pack has been replaced with an advanced rylith power cell, improving the energy output of the weapon system.
- Improved Actuated Blaster Module: An improved actuated blaster module is installed within the weapon to increase the power and penetration of each shot.
- Aftermarket Component Availability: Aftermarket components such as grips and barrels can easily be installed.
- Blaster Gas Conversion Chamber: This chamber allows any form of blaster gas to be used.
- Gas Cycling Mechanism: Once a power pack has been inserted into the port, the cycling mechanism must be pulled back to begin cycling the blaster gas through the weapon components. This is done to prevent weapon damage once a new power pack is activated.
- Barrel Recoil Slider: Upon firing, the barrel slides back slightly to account for recoil, lessening the effect.
- Textured Agrinium Grip: The grip of the sidearm is made from Agrinium, a lightweight material which is textured to improve grip.
- Illuminated Iron Sights: On-top of the weapon, there are both front and rear illuminated sights that glow white.
- Cautionary Pulser: The grip of the sidearm will vibrate when low on ammunition.
- White Prismatic Crystal: Blaster bolts fired from the sidearm are white as a result of the prismatic crystal.
- Reusable Power Pack: The specially made power packs can be refilled with blaster gas and energy.
- Branded: The sidearm is branded with the icon of 'The Family,' although this can be removed if requested. The icon is unrecognisable to those not in 'the loop' regarding the identity of The Family.

- DAMAGE: As a result of the advanced rylith power cell and the improved actuated blaster module, the sidearm provides an excellent power output and is a deadly tool in the right hands.
- BALANCED: Owing itself to the weapon's weight distribution, the FDS-4F is incredibly agile & able to be wielded reliably in one hand. As a result of the sidearm being back-heavy, it is quick to point and easy to aim with one hand.
- WEIGHT: The sidearm is considered back-heavy as a result of the power pack, blaster components and most of the mechanical components being stored at the rear of the weapon.
- RATE OF FIRE: As a result of the barrel recoil slider, the sidearm takes slightly longer prepare another bolt. This is done to allow the gas to pass through the necessary components to improve the power of the bolt.
- UTILITARIAN: To reduce the price and improve the reliability of the sidearm, there are limited quality of life components as the weapon is designed to be durable and reliable during use.
The more advanced version of the FDS-4P, the FDS-4F is specifically manufactured for members of 'The Family' and features an improved actuated blaster module and a solar-powered power cell which increase the damage output of the weapon system. Designed and manufactured as an upgraded version of the original sidearm, the FDS-4F still retains its reliability and sturdiness by utilizing high quality materials. Acquiring this sidearm is only possible by either being gifted one by the upper echelons of The Family or by being a member of The Family, although anyone could modify the the original version to the same specifications.
Although the weapon system is heavy compared to others of its class, the weight distribution means that it is easy to use with one hand and is easy to aim. Avoiding unnecessary features, the weapon system is mainly operated by mechanical components, minus the blaster components, meaning that the sidearm is easy to maintain and isn't likely to malfunction if looked after. Additionally, any type of blaster gas may be used within the sidearm as a result of the gas conversion chamber with each blaster bolt coloured white as a result of the prismatic crystal installed within.
