Their gamey meat and delicious organs became the base for many of Pamarthe's mainstay folk dishes.
  • General behavior: Feidh traveled in small groups or herds usually counting from 2-5 individuals. Males typically lived alone until they could earn a harem of their own. There was no set breeding season for Feidh but they seemed more plentiful during the fertile summers of Pamarthe. Being a marsupial Fedih young were raised in the pouches found on both the male and females as Fedih always gave birth to twins. This would continue until the yews were about eight months old. At one year both males and females left the herd. Males fought for mates using their claws and horns utilizing a mix of boxing and head bashing, swapping chosen females at the end of the bouts. They were hunted by Common and Greater Skyeels, Pamarthen Lions, and wild Salt Hound packs as well as a variety of other wildlife. They were extremely difficult to domesticate, but many Pamarthen homesteaders would keep track of local herds in their islands for reliable hunting. Nobody was sure how, but they managed often to travel from one island to another often, keeping island gene pools clear of inbreeding. There were many theories on how they did so. Some believed they swam and there were even theories of secret underground, underwater passages that only the Fedih knew how to traverse.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Feidh were a native species to Pamarthe and discovered when settlers first landed on the world. They lived on the harsh islands in small groups, living off of the lichen and grasses found across the archipelagos. Though quick, they were no harder to hunt than any other game the settlers had hunted before and they quickly became a common food source with Pamarthens using every part of the animal. Their mysterious ways of traversing between islands quickly became tales of myth and fable. Though steady food is now available with the onset of galactic trade and the success of homesteads and farms on Pamarthe, the Feidh still constitute a solid portion of a Pamarthen's diet as hunting was an important part of the culture.
