Description: An insertion pod ideally for stealth missions, or blitz attacks. The drop pod is essentially a stealth suite of basic options to get someone into a combat zone undetected or at least unhindered, there are eye slits for viewing holes made from transparisteel but otherwise the occupant is completely enclosed. It has no overly advanced tech or way to defend itself if chased, but gets the job done of getting someone down unharmed by providing basic counters to missiles, tractor beams and electronic warefare. It is also small, coupled with its speed and cloaking or jamming devices this can mean a drop pod is never detected in the first place.
There is one missile aboard, just one to breach a target's shields or perimeter for entry, though of course if it’s used, any illusion of stealth likely goes with it. Alternatively the small payload can be used to distract someone away from the ship itself. While inside the occupant has little room, it is not comfortable for long journeys but its fine for an hour or two for most people. Pilots are fixed in one position, and braced with supporting harnesses as well as a plastifoam backing to help prevent injury and provide some cushioning. The pilot has a holographic interface to the controls themselves, or a manual one by their hands if they need it.
A small shield exists but won’t hold up in a fight for long, it will get you out of trouble because of the speed of the craft, but the best bet if you are engaged by a light or fast fighter, is to put the drop pod to planetfall somewhere or get away as soon as possible. The maximum amount of air, fuel and supplies carried by the ship is usually 3 days, and due to the limited size and power available, a camouflage netting is usually packed for standard use and long periods landed planetside.
