The air smelled of death and fire, once untamed jungle now set alight in the scorching violence of war, the central aspect of her existence which 626 had been cast into, ever since she emerged from her exowomb. Clad in the distinct red armor that marked her and the other strand-casts who had been created to serve the Empire, their manner was markedly different from that of natural born Legionnaires. Quiet and intense, almost eerily so, while bearing expressions that left little room for nonchalance. 626 was no different, though her bright cyan hair and dark purple lips might have hinted at some aspect of individuality, were it not for the fact that her hair was in fact, a natural color.

However, that didn’t explain the purple lipstick.

The New Imperial forces who had landed on Generis were in retreat after a failed assault on the ORCC, but their holdouts were still present within the jungle, a few awaiting extraction while others were resigned to their fate. Nevertheless, their forces were still very much combat capable, prepared to fight to the death knowing that the Sith would spare them no mercy.

Approaching the makeshift briefing area, 626 set her penetrating, gold eyed gaze on the Lieutenant who had been placed in charge of their operation, a towering male Besalisk with four muscular arms, carrying four gatling blasters on his back and clad in the black armor of the Imperial Legion. A massive brute of a soldier, bearing the marks of a veteran if the scars across his weathered features were any indication.

“Alright! This’ll be a simple, but brutal op.” He began in a gruff baritone. “NIMPs are holed up all over this damn jungle like rats. We gotta clear em’ out. We’re working together on this, both vat born and natural, so don’t go giving each other any funny looks. Now, here’s the plan.” The Besalisk paused as he pulled a holoprojector out of his harness, activating the device after a few moments to bring up a holographic map of the area.

“Scouts have detected battle droids, heavy ones, set as a screening force. Make no mistake, this is a last stand they are attempting here. We’re gonna give it to em’, but it’s gonna be more than they reckoned for. We’re gonna engage the battle droids and feign a retreat to draw the stormies into our fields of fire. Simple and brutal. These guys are looking to die thinking they’re heroes and we’re gonna give it to them. Any questions?”

Sarah's Log:
I was assigned to this backwater jungle, apparently on orders to eradicate some NIO holdouts. Expected to see those, "Strand-Casts", genetically engineered soldiers. It will be interesting to see their combat evaluation reports after the battle if I had access to them. For now, I am stuck fighting NIO scum on a planet only the force knows where. The others are excited about spilling blood, I guess this will relieve stress, I may have drunk way too much wine last night, feel a bit light-headed, no matter. Time to enforce the will of the Emperor.

The Jungle was nothing more than a hellscape. The debris of turrets and defensive positions completely coving the area. The Vatborn all stood intently together in their red armor, while Sarah was standing there with some of her squadmates in their Legionarre equipment. They listened in towards the CO's briefing, a man with the strength and stature of a giant. Sarah casually had her helmet off, looking around with her copper hair and blue eyes, scanning around the area.

Sarah had the full support of her cooperation and had also bought some droids off
Roble Manufacturing, two TVX-16S Cylai-type Security Droids (Heavy Duty). She had also brought 2 Primus-Class Combat Defender Droids. They, of course, are under her control. She stood out as the droids flanked her completely.

She stood there, with her usual smirk, as the CO finished up the battle plan:

"CO, I have a question, Why don't we burn the NIMPs alight as they enter the area. My Primus-Class Combat Defender Droids are nearly impervious towards blaster fire and EMP/ION weaponry. They can just burn the NIMP troops if there is little foliage in the area. The droid's circuits are fine with their own fire, so what is your take on my adaptation of the plan?"

She stands, eagerly awaiting a reply from the CO.

The massive Besalisk gave a deep sniff, his nostrils flaring as he drank in the scent of burning foliage across the jungle while considering the Legionnaire’s words. All the while, 626 stared at the copper haired soldier across from her, taking in her retinue of droids, who seemed to act as the woman’s personal bodyguards. It was strange for a Legionnaire to have such a private escort, though 626 supposed if she specialized in maintaining droids, it would not be unwarranted.

The gold eyed sniper said nothing, instead deferring to the Besalisk commander, waiting for him to consider his response.

“Well, I guess this jungle smells like fire for a damn good reason.” He pondered aloud. “We’ll integrate your droids into our plans. The fire should help with flushing them out, then we’ll gun down their flaming corpses.” The Besalisk said. “But your droids, impervious as they are, will need cover fire too. Don’t let them stray too far, Legionnaire.” He finished with a grunt.

“Alright! Helmets on and let’s move out! Patrol formation!”

Taking one last breath of the hot, humid air in the jungle, 626 sealed her helmet over her cyan hair, concealing her features from view beneath a villainous red mask. Her pulse cannon was readied as well, taken from its place on her back and gripped in both hands, the weapon of a sniper. With only a nod towards the red haired Legionnaire and her droids, the strandcast moved in formation behind her, knowing without needing to be told that she would be tasked with providing covering fire for the droids as they went about their duties in setting the jungle alight.

“I’ll be covering your droids, Legionnaire.” 626 said to the red haired woman via a point to point laser communication. “Keep me abreast of their movements, so I can identify potential firing positions.”

As she spoke, the small group of red armored strandcasts and Legionnaires moved into the depths of the jungle, directed by the towering Besalisk. Initially, they were met only with the sounds of wildlife, but the discordant harmonies of distant blasterfire soon echoed through the foliage as well. Nevertheless, the Besalisk kept the group moving at a decent pace for some time.

Until suddenly, he brought the group to a halt with a single, decisive gesture.

As Sarah heard the CO, her smirk grew, as her copper hair, being flown in the ash-touched wind, finally settled. She dragged her helmet onto her face. Even as the Besalisk kept speaking, she ignored him, tending to her blaster pistol instead. She had grown used to combat and warfare by now, she was new, but everyone in her squad knew of her. They would sometimes call her "Viper", a preferred nickname due to her uncaring and calculating nature. Some even had told her "It would be better if you were a droid, would give you some meaning into why you don't care". Those people were weak and irrelevant. What mattered was tagging some kills to her name and getting some distinguishment.

Her father and brother always told her that joining the army was for the good of the Sith, not herself. That was the talk of nobodies, one even betraying that statement. Her mother on the other hand was the logical one. "Everything is about you, if you don't get something out of it don't do it". Nevertheless, these were soothing thoughts and nothing else, listening to the drabble of a troglodyte like the CO would be a waste of energy.

Though not even her ignorance could escape the order from the Besalisk to move. As she prepared to move, she received a communication from one of the strand-casts. She turned to see what appeared to be a woman standing behind her. Clad in the revered red armor of a strand cast, with her pulse cannon strapped back.

"You are already prepared to move, good. Time to see what type of tool you are, hopefully, they ingrained a good sniper protocol somewhere there."

She turned ready to move, and in unison, they marched. slowly they were brought before the sound of War. Sarah already knew it was the horsemen's playground, it was just about manipulating it. With the Besalisk's gesture, the droids began scanning the environment, blasters ready, as Sarah had them encircle her. He would charge any second now, now that he had been intruded upon.

The Legionnaire’s patronizing language, even in the context of such words being delivered by a soldier who was inferior to her in rank and experience, did not elicit anger out of UX-0626, at least not immediately. Instead, 626 left the woman on read, deeming that her arrogant behavior did not warrant the time of day of a response. Nevertheless, the strand-cast would do her duty as she always had, once on Panatha, Bastion, and Helgard, now on Generis.

In the midst of the halt, 626 held her pulse cannon at the ready. Within a few moments, the scanners integrated into their armors and the copper-haired Legionaire’s droids would pick up unidentified signatures along the edge of their range, that of armed New Imperial battle droids.

Built like tanks and styled off of the ancient SD-10, the droids were hulking mechanical monstrosities, standing at a well over twice the height of a man. 626 immediately picked up four of them along the edge of her sensors, though she knew that there were likely more beyond.

”Five giga-clankers, SD-60 units, close by, with more ahead.” The towering Besalisk said over comms. “The NIMPs are using droids to cover their positions.” Then, there was a short pause, as the commander contemplated his options.

“You, droid girl.” He gestured to Sarah. “You say your droids are good? Well, prove it. Take the sniper with you and move in on their flanks. When I give you the signal, we’ll open up on the giga-clankers with covering fire while your droids and 626 take them out.”

626 only nodded in affirmation.

No response was given, just how Sarah liked it. Then as Sarah sat there thinking to herself, her droids picked the signatures.
War droids.

“You, droid girl.” He gestured to Sarah. “You say your droids are good? Well, prove it. Take the sniper with you and move in on their flanks. When I give you the signal, we’ll open up on the giga-clankers with covering fire while your droids and 626 take them out.”

As Sarah heard the CO, she immediately moved with her droids up towards the ridge. A ' ridge' was just an ash-covered mound now, war had devastated this part of the planet so much that much of its former environmental advantages had disappeared. As she got into a clear position, she could see the models. SD-60x. Tough droids but nothing that her droids couldn't handle. She quickly positioned her droids, ready to fire at a moment's notice. Now came the wait. She looked at UX-0626 UX-0626 .

"Ready your shot and make it count. If you can attempt to knock the enemy droids over that would benefit us greatly."

To await orders. It didn't benefit her stature. She had served for a short while, yes, but the other soldiers are so, unskilled. The Sith Empire was built for the benefit of the strong, but now that all seemed to be in the past. If it was so now, she would be Empress, well, if it wasn't for the Sith and their innate ability in the force. Sometimes the meek will govern, all she had to do is exploit them. Grow stronger, even if it meant toying away fighting on a backwater.

Anything can change, it only takes time.
