The Firebat MKI armour was personally designed by Greta to be used by the elite soldiers of her personal guard. It was a hardy, durable piece of armour that was at the same time not too costly to produce. It is meant to take a balance between being protective and multi-functional. Developed after countless hours of burning the midnight oil and numerous visits of consultation with Techno Union associates and One Sith engineers, the final design was complete and ready for production.
As much as she wished it was, the armour isn't impervious to damage. It's purpose was to give a well-trained soldier with both an decent amount of protection and flexibility in combat. That way, they can focus more on the combat situation at hand, rather than on their survivability being affected by inferior materials and other assorted unnecessary details.
The Firebat MKI comprises of three main layers or components. The first and innermost layer is an armourweave bodyglove that serves as an comfortable padding as well as providing a layer of protection. To make the armour more fire-resistant, the material was interwoven with a layer of thermal-gel. The second layer involves a layer of the flex-armour material.
It is a durable piece of material that was capable of withstanding blaster fire and slugthrower projectiles. The third and last layer involves the strategically placed duraplast plates that form the majority of the outer portions of the armour. The helmet is made out similar materials as the rest of the armour and fits snugly when locked in. The armour is also EVA ready, enabling the soldiers to work out of a planet's atmosphere.
The rest of the armour components follow next, on top of the armour. The utility belt is worn at the waist, and the ammunition storages are placed in canisters or magazines and these canisters can be detached or reattached as the need arises. The vibroknife is stored in a sheath on the thigh for ease of access. At the end of the day, the Firebat MKI is a decent design that does not excel particularly in a certain areas, but provides the soldier with protective functional utility.
