First Class [OPEN]

Shortly after becoming Grandmaster, Jyoti had revived a practice of regular group orientations for new members to the Silver Order. It served as a great way for new and old members to begin forging bonds right from the get-go and gave her a chance to get familiar with all the new faces.

The orientation was set outside in the gardens right behind the main temple. She sat upon one of the low stone benches in a clearing, waiting for initiates to show up. Many that appeared were quite young, barely into adolescence, but there were quite a few that were older teenagers and adults. People in the latter group were either late bloomers, converts or had faced some kind of obstacle that had kept them from seeking guidance with the Silver Order until now.

Sometimes she conducted the orientations alone, but today she would be accompanied by Josh and Charlie, both acting the capacity of their respective positions on the Silver Assembly. With Josh, in particular, she was grooming him to take up the mantle of Master of the Order. There would be a time where she wouldn't be around the temple much, so he would be left to carry out managing the Rest in her stead.

When it seemed like everyone had shown up, she finally stood to address them, her flowing white robes flapping around in the soft breeze.

"Good morning everyone, and thank you for coming out today for orientation. In case you don't already know, I am the current Grandmaster of the Order, Jyoti Nooran. With me today is my colleague Master Josh DragonsFlame, Battlemaster of the Order, and my apprentice Charlie who also serves as one of our Prefects."

"Today, our objective is to provide a formal introduction to the Silver Order and also answer any questions you may have about the SJO and Jedi in general. To start, why don't don't we all go around and introduce ourselves. Give us your name, how ended up at the Silver Rest, and your goals in studying with us."

She clasped her hands together and looked over at Charlie to provide the first introduction as an example.

The announcement of her master becoming Grandmaster was something she had expected to be something soon, possibly after she had become a knight. With Jyoti becoming the Grandmaster, Charlie put more pressure on herself to make sure she acted in the best way possible. Being helpful when she needed to be and keeping up on her studies. Today she was excited to be helping with a new batch of initiates to the Silver Order.

She made note of the age differences and she smiled as she listened to Jyoti’s introduction. Her small smile grew wider as her position was mentioned and she beamed with accomplishment for it. Introductions were over for the most part, but Jyoti wanted to make it more personable – which was a good move. Charlie remembered when she arrived at the Rest, everything was so different and a bit terrifying.

Luckily, Jyoti was there to help her acclimate to the changes that the Rest had compared to her home. Another padawan came to mind, Saka – they both had the same background and Charlie was happy that for the most part Saka was adjusting well, hopefully they could be friends soon. Jyoti turned to Charlie having her lead the introduction part. Stepping forward, Charlie nodded.

“My name is Charlie.” The girl paused taking a deep breath. She was a little nervous being first, but she soon continued. “Master Nooran recruited me from Tython where I grew up with a sect of Jedi who followed the old ways. My goals for studying at the Silver Order is to better myself and to help better the Galaxy as a whole.” Probably wasn’t a good idea to mention her dislike for the Sith and that it was also why she studied, to push back the Dark Side. The small Seoulian girl bowed her head as she finished. “Pleasure to meet all of you.”

Dorrian who talked to Jyoti had accepted the invitation with pleasure to understand more about the force that he had just discovered. He had noticed the Padawan there as well by the name of Charlie Nooran and I crack a smile at her. I am wearing my normal smuggler's uniform.

"Hello Charlie, I am Dorrian Korr."

With Shoden off enjoying herself best she could, Darlyn was left to his own devices. And by that, one meant 'doing his due part' to be a proper member and keep from getting kicked out. The SJO was what kept Shoden safe right now, and being separated would be unduly cruel to her, which meant he had to at least go through the motions. Which is what lead a source of rather intense darkside energy to stand among jedi during orientation.

He needed a drink.

Best he could do for now was the silver flask in his robe's inside pocket. Speaking of which, if his somewhat contained aura of darkness wasn't enough to stand out, the robes probably helped do so in a far more obvious manner. What colors would one expect? Browns, whites, maybe some greys. Darlyn wore, black. Not only that, but the robes were very clearly, painstakingly obviously former Sith robes. How so? On his chest, where now resided a blue and silver Commenori crest, was a (poorly) sewn over symbol of the old Sith empires.

Old master had quite the taste.

Not quite as good as the whiskey in his flask though, which was brought to his lips while [member="Jyoti Nooran"] and [member="Charlie Nooran"] spoke, lowering as [member="Dorrian Korr"] gave his name. Well, that made it his turn huh?

"Darlyn Excron. Former Commenor Minister of Justice. I'm here to keep my daughter safe and not be executed by the Sith. So, I'm helping the Order and keeping myself in form so I can... dispense justice and free my home. And find a decent drink in this place." He glanced over at Jyoti then, trying not to chuckle at himself. "That should do for me, yes?"

Do or not do, there is no try
Tharr was checking on the emotions of the people present at this introduction, having never seen such a mix of peoples he was quite interested.
The first to speak was the Grandmaster, she was calm and didnt let any other emotion out.
As she finished her Padawan introduced hershelf and he sensed that she was a bit nervous, why he couldn't tell.
The next one to talk was the smuggler, he was quite confident and friendly too.
But the most interesting person of them all was the former Sith. He didn't seem to care much about all of this, that beeing proved by the whiskey flask that he took out of his Sith robe.
Realizing that Darlyn ended his introduction, Tharr did his.

"Hi, im Padawan Tharr Hei and Im happy to be part of this new family. I like saber fight above all, so if one of you wants to practice im always ready. I came to the Silver Order to learn more about the Force and to help people.

[member="Jane Yang"]

The meeting chance in the garden was something she hadn't seen for awhile though it was a fun idea and way for her to get to meet others. She preferred it in some ways though and with her padawan Jane the jedi master stood there. The cane that Maple had fashioned for her to use with a lightsaber well was nice. In her hands she held the top of it while she leaned a little. Looking at the padawan who had come to train under her while listening to the others.

"Hopefully you aren't one to be nervous, I usually can be in crowds." She offered a smile though while she said it and looked towards Jyoti with a nod of her head. "I am Matsu Ike a jedi master at the Silver Rest and main artisan of the order. I came here to see what requests for new equipment are filed to construct them and I am always here looking to learn more." She offered a bow tot he others and looked at Jane hopefully the girlo would become a part of this.

Being told he was to soon be the Master Of The Order upon Jyoti's promotion was... Surreal, really. Honestly, it was overwhelming, knowing he would be in a position very close to the one he'd held so long ago. Immediately he began to question himself as to if he was ready. His confidence had never truly recovered after what happened with the old Order, and it had been shattered further after being abandoned. And his recent issues made him wonder why Jyoti would choose someone that was openly dealing with what he was dealing with to take the role, was he ready for it? Could he do it? The issue with Draven and his ill-timed attempt to bring some semblance of a happy tune to a man that had suffered - and Jyoti's berating that followed - sent him down the hole even further. Josh had a ways to go, it seemed before he felt he was capable.

Perhaps through helping Jyoti to the best of his abilities and learning to better understand what would soon be his duties, he would regain his confidence at least in regards to the position. It would mean he'd be responsible for the Rest in her absence, and that was a big responsibility to take up. But if Jyoti felt him capable of pulling it off... He'd do all in his power to ensure he was ready. For today, it was just a seminar. Something to welcome new additions to the Order. Simple, sweet, right?

He stood on one side of Jyoti, with her Padawan Charlie on the other, as she and Charlie would give examples and others would soon begin chiming in. With a break in the introductions, the Jedi Master would step forward and give a calm, graceful bow.

"I am Master Josh DragonsFlame, the current Battlemaster Of The Order. I specialize as the Order's combat instructor. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions, whether they be about the Order in general, or if you are looking to learn. For those who will be studying under us as Padawans... There are a variety of Jedi Knights and Jedi Masters amongst our number who are looking for apprentices, and should you not find one available, I am personally taking students. I can guarantee you that while I hold the post of Battlemaster, no Jedi Padawan within the Silver Jedi Order will have to study alone if they do not wish to."

Jane did not even believe where she was. She was having the opportunity to meet powerful and experienced Jedi. She felt rather nervous, she did not want to make a bad impression.

"My name is Jane Yang and my family comes from Coruscant. It's a pleasure to meet everyone here. "

She introduced herself with some shame. Jane was extremely cheerful and excited despite her nervousness and shyness. For the first time she knew Jedi masters who seemed so wise and powerful. She certainly hoped to learn a lot from all of them.

Jane was also afraid to embarrass her master Matsu Ike and would do anything to make her proud. This would certainly be a great learning moment. Jane certainly wanted to become a great Jedi one day, wise and powerful, helping in the fight against the Sith and the dark side of force.

"I came to the Order to learn and become a great Jedi one day.I plan to learn about the Force and help in the fight against evil in the galaxy.I swear that I will become a great and powerful Jedi one day and bring pride to the Jedi "

One by one, nearly everyone in the group introduced themselves and gave their reasons for joining the Silver Order, while Josh himself provided a brief overview of his role as the SJO's Battlemaster.

All the while, she sat there looking ever serene, smiling along as each person had a turn. Each reason was different, providing some important insight into their character. She had to hold herself back from Charlie's claims of being "recruited" from Tython, when it was more like Jyoti had stumbled upon the girl during her expedition there. Darlyn was...Darlyn, but she found herself impressed that he even managed to come out in the first place. The ex-CSA official was definitely a work in progress.

"Thank you, everyone, for sharing. I hope these introductions help to bring us all just a little bit closer. I liked the way that Padawan Hei described the Silver Order as being a family, because this is exactly the type of atmosphere we try to promote here. It is only through a strong and loving community that we are able to weather the great tribulations that plague the galaxy today."

She gave the Zabrak a nod of approval, then continued. "That's one thing that makes the Silver Order special. We draw strength from our bonds, and it helps keep us grounded in the fact that as we work to defend those in need and try to make the galaxy a better place for all. This is how we should use our gifts."

The whirr of ion engines made her look up to the sky for a few minutes, a pair of sleek Jedi starfighters passing overhead conducting their normal air patrol. Well beyond the ground of the campus proper, there was a whole bustling base of soldiers built right into the mountains that overlooked the Rest. Even further beyond, an entire armada of warships provided overwatch to the entire system, always under threat of attack by the Sith and other belligerents.

"I suppose that's the other thing that makes us different from most other Jedi organizations," she said, turning her silver eyes back onto the class. "It is our self-sufficiency. While we're not alone in operating independently from government control, we are unique in our capabilities. No other Jedi organization can stand toe to toe with the Sith Empire, or provide disaster relief on an intergalactic scale. Because of said capabilities, we don't have to compromise our ideals for the politics of any government, which can often be mired in corruption from self-interests. However, with such power, we always need to be cautious that we don't let it go to our heads and do as we please. We will never become like Jedi Lords engaging in tyrannical rule over the people we're sworn to protect."

Pausing for the moment, she looked over at Josh to see if he had anything to add.

She sat alone in the back listening to them talking, legs crossed and eye going all over the room, from face to face. Dressed in those tight leather/cotton outfits of a padawan was really annoying to her, she hated the way they were tight in her chest and hips, but she dared not say a damn word about it. If there was one thing that Jarael hated even more, was doing nothing.

Vaapad was probably her thing to specialize, she was horrible to find balance and peace, but great at getting angry and wild with her emotions. There were powers she was dying to learn, offensive skills that were deadly in the fights to come, but what fights? She fought a bit at Commenor, but nothing else beyond that, now, there she was, back in class as a good student, kindly sat down in her place. Taping her long finger on her thigh as she waited and listened to the others talking and teaching.

So many people, so many stories to tell, so many backgrounds... So many paths and yet they all led here. [member="Jane Yang"] came from Coruscant, with visions of justice and fighting evil in mind. There was a woman in the back that had said nothing, [member="Jarael Belaerys"] who did not seem to be all that happy to be there. Or perhaps she was unhappy about something else? As his gaze moved from recruit to recruit, he would allow his eyes to meet this woman's, and give her a warm, bright smile in some attempt to reassure and comfort her in whatever issue she may be dealing with. The Silver Jedi Order was meant to be a welcoming place after all - a family.

He listened as Jyoti would continue to give her speech, addressing the recruits individually in some cases. She would then look to him, to see if he had any input on the matter. What could he add, after all of that? Jyoti had said all that he had in mind, and when she would look to him, he felt a pressure to add something. He was being put in a position where he would need to be fulfilling this role she was fulfilling right now, at some point. And he had no problem with it, but in this instance, what was left to say? He considered for a moment just saying there was naught to add, but he did not want to disappoint Jyoti either. Instead, something did come to mind.

With that, the Battlemaster would clear his throat and speak out.

"I want to put emphasis on the word family, as our Grandmaster and Padawan Hei put it. When you join the Silver Jedi Order, you are not just part of a fighting force, or a group, a faction, a community... We are a large family. For those of you that have yet to speak out... Please, do not fear judgement nor retribution for what may come to mind. We are a family... We want you to speak your mind, whatever it may be. Not that we are forcing you, of course. If you are comfortable with silence... Then simply walk with the knowledge that we wish for nothing but the best and happiest for everyone here today. And we are not shy to lend a listening ear, or a shoulder.

Because that's what family does."

Do or not do, there is no try
The Zabrak was quite proud that both masters used his words in their speaches. After they had finished, he felt like he had a place with in the order, making him wish that never ever will something happen to all of them. He will do his best to make sure of that.

"What are we suppost to do now masters? I would like to fight against the others, to break the ice a little more."
