STANDARD FEATURES
This ship retains all of the military-grade features of its class, notably:
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Strengths:
  • Raw Power: The Indomitable is fitted with impressive armament, and has the power supply to handle most of the load.
  • Cycling Shields: The Indomitable has layered shielding that, when combined with the Xythan systems energy absorption and channeling, allows for redundant shield layering that can recharge independently during combat engagements.
  • Agile Monster: The Indomitable has surprising maneuverability and speed for its size, allowing it to maintain faster speed and response time than other vessels of similar class or size.
  • Ship Killer: The Indomitable has been specifically crafted to engage a range of starship classes, including stealth vessels due to the onboard crystal grav trap, posing a threat to fleets and even larger war vessels.
Weaknesses:
  • Assault Vessel: The Indomitable is a powerful vessel, however even the largest armament and shielding cannot overcome fleets alone, requiring support vessels to assist against numerous enemy starships to avoid being overwhelmed.
  • Cost of Power: The Indomitable has been fitted with a plethora of weapon and shield systems, at the cost of a lot of internal space; this has left the vessel with minimal starfighter/support vessel amounts, a lack of ground-deployable troop or mission supply options, limiting its capability as a dedicated command or support ship for fleets.
  • Blind Spots: Like most conventional Star Destroyer designs, the stern lacks dedicated weapon defenses, leaving it less defended than the rest of the vessel; as such, it requires support from other vessels and starfighters to compensate.
  • Energy Hungry: The more specialized advanced systems of the Indomitable require considerable power to utilize and as a result must be used individually to avoid damage to the vessels power reactors.
Description:
The Indomitable is a vessel of impressive size, armament and operational systems. The First Order commissioned the Star Dreadnought for use within their navy to be commanded by officers appointed by High Command. Not only does it boast numerous Chiss-designed advancements to weapons, defenses, systems and components, but it uses the hybrid-hyperdrive for incredibly accurate microjump capabilities. With a plethora of weapon emplacements, layered shielding, reinforced structuring and hull plating, as well as some specialized systems for completing specific tasks - such as an array of sensors for triangulation of firing solutions and even stealth craft sensors - the Indomitable is a force to be reckoned with. Yet, like most Star Destroyer designs, there remains some defensive shortcomings.

In order to successfully utilize its weapons and shielding to full effect, a larger portion of interior space was used for armament reactors. By having a layered shielding system in place, complete with shielding boosting generators and an energy channeling Xythan field reactor, the vessel has impressive recharging capability while in combat. Still, when an entire fleet is firing on a warship continuously, even high recharge shielding has its limits. Another aspect was a sacrifice being made to the on-board support units, particularly the starfighters and support vessels, which do leave the starship very isolated without a fleet to support it. Still, the ingenuity of First Order and Chiss engineers has resulted in the dreadnought maintaining a higher maneuverability than most vessels of its class, lending to a higher chance of tactical movement over other dreadnoughts.

Two less common systems on the vessel are the Predator Interdiction Drive, and the Power Crystal Weapons. The Drive is designed to emit an interdiction-like field around the Indomitable, which in turn slows all vessels realspace speed within a nearby range for a brief time; this allows the Indomitable several advantages, such as maintaining speed with enemy vessels that are faster, keeping enemy vessels nearby for reinforcements to arrive, etc.

The Power Crystal Weapons are designed to bore literal holes into energy defensive shields, creating openings of several dozen meters that allow the Indomitable to maximize firepower in specific locations; and these shield holes last from around ten-to-twenty seconds, with each power crystal turret requiring at least double that time to cooldown and fire again. Despite being equipped on a dreadnought-class vessel, each turret hasn't necessarily had damage value increased, instead focusing on both improvement to the boring method and energy regulation and supply to allow continued fire; as opposed to smaller, freighter-class ships that have most of their systems drained with each shot. Due to the nature of these boring lasers, they are highly efficient against energy deflecting shields, but lack any real damage to physical surfaces or physical deflecting shielding; additionally, they are near ineffective against hull, as they rapidly lose energy once affecting an energy shield and consequently burn out before reaching most vessels plating.

When it comes to the advanced hybrid-hyperdrive, the engineering teams constructed larger units well-suited to propel the Indomitable into hyperspace easily, simply and efficiently. The hyperdrive is capable of incredibly smooth transitions in and out of hyperspace, as well as having dedicated advanced systems for microjump calculations and executions. Combined with the vessel's HIMs integration and enhanced navicomputer, it is able to perform some impressive microjump strategies. Because of the larger size and more powerful outputs, the hyperdrive has reached faster speeds than the other smaller vessel hyperdrives.

All in all, a powerful dreadnought capable of leading fleet assaults in combat, while offering combat improvement to assigned fleet vessels as a flagship; however, due to the large power requirements, some typical vessel resources and starfighter support were decreased, leaving the Indomitable to rely on specific vessels to support its weak points.

Nothing major to bring up here, though there are some minor issues I'd like to see resolved before approving this.
  • Apologies for the lack of clarity in the Templates themselves, but a vessel's base Hangar Space is limited to Support Craft and Support Craft only and cannot be used to field Starfighters, per the most recent Factory Update. Please edit the submission accordingly.
  • Your links to the Gravimetric Sensor Net and the Cronau Radiation Amplifier are broken, please fix them.
  • While I'm not normally one to nitpick non-Weaknesses so long as the submission as a whole is more or less balanced, the "Hyperspeed" Weakness is really pushing it. I really don't see how being faster than most ships is a weakness and would suggest removing it.

Adjustments to links made, removal of the hyperspace speed weakness.

Regarding the support craft only with base hangar spacing, I have checked the update; is this what is being referred to?

and must carry the minimum number of support craft (which is the base number of squadrons for any size rating).

Just to clarify, is the meaning that:

A 7km dreadnought with a base hangar allotment is required to have 7 squadrons of support craft (7 being the base), and that a 7km dreadnought with an average hangar (38 squadrons) allotment is also required to have at least 7 squadrons of support craft, per the base amount of that sized vessel?

I'll make the adjustments now, assuming that's correct.

That is correct, yes - I don't imagine anyone would complain if you removed some of those squadrons, say because you wanted a ship with no Support Craft whatsoever for whatever reason, but trading them for Starfighters is unfortunately not possible, the logic being that "Base" is the equivalent of None in any other category but that some number of Support Craft is needed for a ship of that size to function properly.

Approved.
