Strengths:
- Fleshy Bits: The more or less high powered laser that this gun produces easily burns/melts through organic matter thus causing huge amount of damage to unarmored/lightly armored troopers. Only heat absorbent material can properly repel the fire of the P2.
- Laser Pointer: Since light travels really really fast the P2 and other Pha'mas weapon are able to hit a target almost instantly. If your aim is true all you need to do is pull the trigger and you will hit what your target.
- Tough Nut: With the added upgrades and harder casing thanks to the The Mechanicum the P2 is quite the robust and hard gun that is able to withstand the harshest of combat conditions.
- Grenade Pack: Despite seen as a problem with the design the process of overloading the weapon on purpose and using it as a makeshift grenade (for infantry or armored vehicles) makes the P2 that more versatile. Though such is more a last dict effort then standard practice.
- Hard Targets: Any decent armor, mainly ones that dissipate heat, can be a trouble for someone using this as it will take a least 2 shots to just damage an enemy. As such, (unless on high power or in fire teams) using this by yourself against a well armored target can be a pain.
- Relocation: Once again the use of a straight traceable laser means that the element of surprise is lost the minute a person fires the weapon. Though that is not normally a prolblem in large battles basically giving away your position to the enemy every time you shoot is not a sound tactic.
- A Bit Pricey: Sadly due to said upgrades and attachments done by the Mechanicuse the P2 is only available in short numbers, enough to arm several regiments number in the few hundreds bu no more.
- Over Charge: Though not overheating as quickly as P1 shooting such a weapon in quick succession or using it to much on high charge setting will cause it to over load thus exploding.
The P2 is a redesign of the current P1 in service to security regiments on Tythe, this time the royal armory having looked to the strange but expert Mechanicum for advice on the matter and help in making a newer model. The tech fanatics were eager to accept, taking the initial designs and concept of combining Phaser and disruptor technology to create a new form of weapon.
With a schematics of the P1 provided and help from the royal technician the Mechanicum was able to quickly develop a new and much improved weapon. This one had more refined heat dissipation, meaning it did not overheat as fast while also making the energy system more efficient, thus allowing more shots to be taken (on regular setting) before having to switch over energy packs.
The only major down side was the increased cost of the weapon due to all the new parts and other attachments that needed to be made from scratch due to such a weapon still being relatively new. As such there was little pre-existing technology that could be used as Phasers had been long obsolete and disruptors were more or less hard to attain due to certain 'issue' around their production. Even so such developments makes the P2 more military grade then it's predecessor, allowing it to be supplied to actual (although limited) regiments.
