SPECIAL FEATURES
- Hurrikaine Crystal: Much like standard Hurrikaine crystals, Flame has the ability to produce a lightsaber blade that can more easily cut through enemy defenses. A weapon properly designed with the crystal can cut through more resistant materials as long as they aren't too thick, but it will likely still take time or multiple focused strikes.
- Bonded: Similar to other crystals, Flame can only be bonded to a single owner at a time, and only its owner can benefit from the special properties the crystal has. It rejects Dark Siders unless bled, and to allies, it's very difficult to control.
- Force-imbued: Following the retrieval of the crystal, Valery further imbued it with the Force so the crystal is slightly more stable and capable of helping her fall into the Force more easily.
- Flame: The crystal is a one-of-a-kind variant of the Hurrikaine crystal, meant to help its owner channel their prowess in the Force optimally in combat. It ignites the inner strength of whoever it is bonded to without hiding what their true nature is like. A powerful Master with great potential will find their combat capabilities greatly increased, while someone fragile will struggle to control themselves in the heat of battle.
STRENGTHS
- Cutting potential: With the crystal being a Hurrikaine crystal, its potential to get through more resistant materials is amplified. Some materials, especially when they are thick, will still make it hard to get through, but consecutive strikes or enough time can allow a weapon crafted with the crystal to pierce through.
- Force-imbued: While minor, the Force imbuing of the crystal has made it slightly more stable and makes it easier for Valery to connect with the Force in combat.
- Bleeding: Flame is not immune to being bled, but it's extremely resistant to the act and only powerful Sith or alchemists would be able to twist the crystal with the Dark Side of the Force.
- Bonded: The crystal is bonded to Valery and only she can benefit from the Flame effect or the Force-imbued effects she added. In the hands of a Dark Sider, any weapon using the crystal will disengage and in the hands of allies, the weapon will be less stable and without any significant benefits over more standard crystals.
- Flame: In the hands of a Master with a pure heart and great control, Flame will heighten its owner's speed, strength, and precognitive skills in combat noticeably.
WEAKNESSES
- Force-nullification: While a weapon can still function with this crystal in a Force-nullified field, the Force-imbuement Valery added into the crystal later can not. So in the presence of a Void stone or Ysalamiri field, the weapon will become less stable and more of Valery's energy is needed to connect with the Force.
- Fragile: The crystal is highly resistant against being bled but it's still just a crystal. If it's removed from the hilt, it can easily be shattered with basic weapons or simple tools.
- Flame: Only a true Master with a pure heart and strong will can make use of the crystal. Students of the Force or those too heavily conflicted will find the crystal to be so chaotic that wielding a weapon with it would be dangerous. They could lose themselves completely emotionally or the crystal could end up rejecting them, causing the weapon to disengage.
- Instability: The chaotic nature of the crystal doesn't just affect the owner of the crystal — just building a weapon that can use it safely and without blowing up in the middle of a fight is extremely difficult. Only dedicated Artisans have the precision and skill necessary to make the crystal work.
DESCRIPTION
Much like Windu's Guile, Flame is a unique variant of the Hurrikaine crystal. A long time ago, during chaotic times in the Galaxy, the crystal formed deep within a canyon on the planet Hurikane as a response to a powerful disturbance in the Force. It was eventually found by a Jedi Master whose name is lost to time, but on a return trip to Wild Space with his Padawan many years later, he was killed and the crystal was never found when searching parties went to look for the Master's body, which was also never located.
Only after discovering old records regarding this event in the rebuilt Temple on New Cov,
Valery Noble
decided to search for this crystal in the cluster of systems around Hurikane, where she eventually discovered it deep within the ruins of an ancient civilization. With her original lightsabers destroyed by
Darth Carnifex
and one of her crystals bled, Flame would be the crystal she intended to use in the development of her new weapon.Following her retrieval of the crystal, she did quickly learn about its chaotic nature, which explained the name of this ancient artifact to her. In an attempt to control it better, she imbued it with her own Force energy and began the search for an Artisan capable of creating a weapon using the crystal not long after.
