with words without knowledge?
Brace yourself like man,
I will question you,

Where were you when I laid this foundation?
Tell me, if you understand."

OOC
Welcome to the OOC announcement of Flashpoint Oblivion.
This Flashpoint will last from the end(ish) of June until the end of July, though it's possible it becomes a mainstay of Chaos. In it, characters will be offered the chance to journey to a portion of the Netherworld called "Oblivion" that has... seen a change in leadership.
After the events of the Clockwork Rebellion timeline event, the god-complex hivemind Omni was defeated by the combined forces of the Galaxy's factions. During this event, and due to the events of the Head of the Snake Annihilation, Omni's Csillian Factory and the gate to the Netherworld within has been destroyed. The climatic event of closing one of Omni's hypergates has brought attention from the other side. Naturally, it wasn't the only one, and more gates will begin whirling to life and reappearing on planets throughout the Galaxy - allowing wholesale entry to a region of the Netherworld known as Oblivion.
Features/Changes This Flashpoint will bring:
1. Hypergates will now be annotated on random planets throughout the map.
2. Hypergates are still banned for Factory/Codex use.
3. Hypergates can only be destroyed via Annihilations.
4. A map of Oblivion, an isolated region of the Netherworld, will join the SWRP Galaxy Map as our second map.
5. This map will be more "fantasy" in approach.
6. A Netherworld ruleset will be introduced, governing more how the Oblivion region works IC rather than OOC mechanics.
7. Major Factions can claim space in Oblivion, and will explore the funky mechanics of how Hypergates work and how to defend their ownership against other Factions.
8. Omni has a dominant presence in Oblivion, and is nigh-unassailable. However, certain actions may be allowed by both Minor and Major Factions to interact with the Droid demi-god, either in service or in opposition, while exposing more lore for what in the nether is exactly happening with him.
9. Given that this is an experimental map, expect us to get wild with it.
Three Staples To Remember:
1. This map will be another fight for influence wars between Factions. Yes, Factions can exist on both.
2. This map, like the other, is not mandatory. Nor is interaction with Omni, factions will be able to 100% ignore him and his story and still stick to their Dom/Invasion/Rebellion storylines.
3. This event is not mandatory and will have minimal impact on the SWRP Chaos map, unless factions choose to strategize over hypergates.
SOUNDS NEAT. WHAT CAN WE DO NOW?
There's zero incentive in this Flashpoint for the Factory, but NETHERWORLD locations that are submitted to the Codex will be added to the map. Some of the old ones from the actual Netherworld event may even find their way into Oblivion, as well.
Other than that, IC, nothing has happened yet from Omni and his horde awaiting in Oblivion. Feel free to spin up some "countdown" roleplays, if you want, though. If your character can make their way to the Netherworld of their own accord, Oblivion would be easily accessible and the machinations of Omni could be explored. It's possible the big metal domebird might slither in himself.
