GOD OF EGYPT

Vemric longed for the wide openness of space.

He was at his best on the bridge of a warship. But somehow, people think he makes a good governor, a good head of state. So here he was, forced to sit behind a desk and govern a fledgeling Confederacy and entertain the whims of corporate ambassadors and planetary representatives.

But he did it all to bring prosperity to the Frontier.

That part of space that none of the great empires in the Galaxy seem to care about. They are content to let chaos run wild out here, as long as it stays away from the Core worlds or Mid Rim. So it was up to the individual planet to do something about it. And it was up to him to hear them out and give them the means.

It was part of the reason why the new Viceroy of Commerce was someone who shared the same vision for the Galaxy. It was also why he agreed to meet with the Atrisian - to hear how she plans to achieve the goal of prosperity in the Galaxy. After a Foreign Policy had been established based on the carried vote of Parliament, he was eager to hear the plans of his Executive Council as to how to proceed on all the different fronts.

"Your Excellency, Viceroy Cao has arrived." came his one door-guard, Otto's, announcement.
"Does she have her protocol droid with her?" asked the Sephi in his usual bored tone.
"Yes, your Excellency." Otto replied.
"Send them both in. And let the kitchen bring up the tea." he said, leaning back in his chair as he steepled his fingers on his chest.

It took but a moment for the silver-haired businesswoman and her droid to enter. Vemric removed a hand to motion to one of the plush chairs in front of his desk.
"Welcome, Viceroy. Please, have a seat." he said with the slightest twitch of a corner of his mouth before returning the hand to steeple against his chest once more. "Tea will be around shortly."
He allowed her to settle into the chair for a moment.

"Now, your correspondence said you had some things to discuss. Please."

*NB - all of Zhuan's dialogue is in atrisian and translated in real time by her protocol droid.

This was an important time in Zhuan's life, she knew it because she had seen it before, although like most of her visions the details were cloudy, but where would be the fun of perfect clairvoyance. She had come in her elegant flagship which now flew the colours of the confederacy along that of Tsubaki. She had been on Rothana a little while in various meetings this morning but shebhad deliberately scheduled low intensity meetings today as her mind was fixed on Vemric Keldra Vemric Keldra and how this might go.

She walked into his room and was quite pleased with the surroundings. She gave a bow to the president as she approached him. "Good afternoon President, thank you for this audience. Tea would be lovely.. thank you." she sat down and pulled out her data pad which automatically opened to the relevant information in case she needed it, she also pressed a couple of buttons on the pad that from their past meetings Vemric would know meant she was putting her droid into privacy mode, he would translate Vemric but not store his words, it was a little thing that Zhuan just found to be good manners.

"You are correct, and I'm quite excited. I won't apologise for voting against your first legislation, you know my thoughts on the matter, I hope parliament have made the correct choice." she smiled and raised her eyebrows. She felt that excluding the mandalorians entirely was short sighted, but the confederacy had spoken so it's will would be done.

"I have several proposals that I wish to discuss, the most pressing is going to be to sure up our border trade, I am estimating a significant amount of tax revenue is being lost because we simply dont have established protocol for incoming and outgoing commerce. This is not a criticism of course, we are in our birth throes, but it is something I intend to correct as soon as possible." even her own company engaged in what could be called untaxed cross border trade. It would cost her billions in additional taxes annually, but she had calculated that the increased market dominance within the confederacy once outsider businesses were properly taxed would more than offset the short term burdens that she and most of the others on the corporate side of things would face.

You had to spend money to make money.
