Fleet Tournament: Round Two Prep - New Entries Welcome

giphy.gif
Hi folks.

The Fleet Tournament is going really, really well, as far as I'm concerned. Here are the current Round One matches:
  • [member="Captain Larraq"] vs. [member="Alina Sar'theron"] (Cyrus Tregessar) - X - Larraq will advance to Round Two
  • [member="Rick Kaloo"] vs. [member="Sko'saht"] - X - UNDECIDED
  • [member="Aermoira Cyone"] vs. [member="Safis'are'nuruodo"] - X - UNDECIDED
  • [member="Charr"] vs. [member="Raze Lyter"] - X - UNDECIDED
  • [member="Jorga the Hutt"] vs. [member="Andorreth Vikar"] - X - Andorreth will advance to Round Two; I'm just filling in for his partner and giving him some practice.
  • [member="Arisa Yune"] vs. [member="Zeradias Mant"] - X - Zeradias will advance to Round Two
  • [member="William Kerkov"] vs. [member="Aedan Miles"] - X - Both parties have withdrawn
  • [member="Silara Varis"] vs. [member="Lord Mettallum"] - X - Lord Mettallum will advance to Round Two.
  • [member="Torian Pierce"] vs. [member="Alkor Centaris"] - X - Neither party will advance
As you can tell, things are still well under way. When it starts, Round Two will be composed of:
  • Winners from Round One;
  • Defeated players from Round One who made an especially strong showing; and
  • Any others who would like to sign up now.
In every engagement, both sides have the exact same starships - skill against skill, not tech against tech. That will still be true in Round Two, but we're going to spice things up a little. So far, we've played things pretty vanilla, with basic Imperial and CIS fleets. Since this is a hyper-realistic IC simulation, though, the sky's the limit. Super Star Destroyers, Old Sith Empire ships, just about anything. As with Round One, I'll be setting each match's fleets and battlefields, and there's some fun things in store.

For reference, here's the original interest check thread with the list of priorities that led to this:

So for a while now I've wanted to run a fleet battle tournament. Priorities:

1 - Equal, preset loadouts created by me. Skill against skill, not tech against tech. It's like that no-Force, simple-sword-only tournament we ran a couple years ago. That was a good one.

2 - Accessible for relatively new fleet combat writers. Think you can take down today's big names on a level playing field? I'm curious too.

3 - Simple mapping, complex battlefield. Asteroids, space stations, that kind of thing. I'd set all that up.

4 - I'm thinking an ultra-realistic IC simulation tournament; participate anonymously or not as you see fit.

5 - No complex systems/rules unless both parties agree.

6 - 1v1 or 2v2 options.
A couple of people made jokey replies or Discord messages and weren't included in Round One. If anyone wants to join Round Two, let me know fo real.

I'll be there after the fight. Btw, is there a time limit? This thread might take a while.

Sorry if I am a tad slow for posting. Bit sick at the moment and want to check something quickly. Are micro jumps to the edge of the system then back in allowed?

[member="Sko'saht"]
Sure, but you'd have two limiting factors: how long it takes to recalculate for the jump back, and whether you'd arrive back precisely where you want. If I was going to do it, I'd jump in one post, recalculate over the course of a second post, jump back in a third post, and show up some distance away - at long range or something.

Yup.

At the suggestion of Anakin Skywalker, a heavy SPHA turbolaser cannon was installed within the ventral hangar bay of some Venator-class ships of the Open Circle Fleet. These weapons were meant to protect the Star Destroyers while they opened their long ventral doors to the army complement bays.[1] They would be used to considerable effect during the Battle of Coruscant.[7]

On ships in the Open Circle Fleet, a SPHA turbolaser cannon was positioned near the ventral hangar opening for the purpose of protecting the ship along the ventral arc.
