Fleeting Test

Anja laughed maniacally in the command seat of her shiny new balanced heavy cruiser; in the corner of her eye she noticed on the sensory screen that a similar vessel was approaching.

"Orders, Your worship?", one of the plebeian officers asked fearfully of their Harbinger.

The Host Lord thought about it briefly -- considering all the tactical mumbo jumbo -- and nodded to herself calmly as she collected her fine-tuned thoughts.

"Yes, Yes.", she said with a pause, "Activate primary weapons and target that ship.", she added.

The officer smirked slyly before tossing orders around to the others aboard the command deck.

"Bring us in range and open fire!", he shouted with zeal. The heavy cruiser in-range would begin to fire its main guns.

Since this RP is not exactly serious, Captain Bones was in command of his ship The Lucky Wench. Bones was an old-school pirate, with peg leg, missing eye and excessively i-dialect speech.

“Yarr! They be firing on us! Give them a broadside!” he declared, waving his arm around. Instead of a cutlass though, he was holding his rare Velusian parrot, which squawked and pecked him frantically to escape.

The Host Lord squinted her eyes furiously at her captain for incompetently allowing her rather large ship from getting hit by the enemy.

"Kill them harder, Executor!", she angrily ordered him before leaning back in her now reclining command chair and listening to music on SpaceTube, but unfortunately most videos weren't available in her faction.

The captain fearfully shook his hands at the officers. "Fire! Fire! Fire!", he cackled in response before turning to his leader; looking for praise.

Instead Anja rolled her eyes.

“Return fire!” Captain Bones shouted, jumping up and down.

Both sides were slowly beginning to wear the other down.

The attack was beginning to wear down their shields much to Anja's disappointment.

Perhaps the God of Dice will be with them but for now things were mostly even...

"Fire, Fire again!", the captain said jumping up and down in amusement as the battle raged on.

Luckily the shields recovered somewhat each round.

And so the battle continued. This writer is pleased so far. Having too dramatic a resultin a matched 1vs1 battle would be rather silly.
This writer also suggests that we might add another ship to this melee, perhaps a frigate?

Captain Bones was disappointed by the lack of result from the grind, so turned to his XO. "Summon the Bodkin, yarr!"

Anja ordered her captain to order her fleet to attack again when a familiar vessel entered the field. One of her escorting frigates had caught up and began to fire, but when it did all weapons systems seemed to have gone down. "Commander, reactor failure!", the weapon's officer exclaimed rather fearfully to the frigate's commanding officer. The rather jolly Sephi, gorging himself on cake, thought about it momentarily. "It seems whatever *swallows cake*, Ahem, just go fix the reactor.", he ordered to which a maintenance crew delivered. Meanwhile the Heavy Cruiser was maintaining its attack rather valiantly; trading blows.
