FO/GM Nominations (again)

Here we are again!

It's truly unfortunate that we have to do this again so soon, but as recent events has shown us - nothing is ever certain.

Just like last time, this topic is where all members of the faction may nominate who they wish to see as our new Faction Owner. Unlike last time, to expediate the whole process you may also nominate who you think should be our next Grandmaster, as the two do not necessarily need to be one and the same. We'll then vote on FO and GM respectively.

While the office of Grandmaster is restricted to Jedi Masters, anyone can be nominted for Faction Owner if you think you have what it takes.

The vote will begin tomorrow the 7th of May, so don't wait too long to throw yours or anybody else's name in the hat!

It's really unfortunate what has happened. I'm going to throw my name up for the FO and GM spot. So that people understand where I stand, I'm going to try to lay out my platform as clearly as I can, and I am open to questions.

As FO/GM, I would remain committed to seeing the SJO stick to being Light Side faction, fighting the good fight against the Sith and all the other baddies who threaten our slice of the map. However, I would like the SJO to be more proactive and engaging, like working more closely with the GA, and I suppose the TA in their fight against the FO. I had a good time with the other SJO writers I brought along with me to the Skor invasion.

IC and OOC, I am a fairly pragmatic person. As stated before, and shown through my actions, I really don't have an issue working with Dark Jedi or other questionable characters as long as they're willing to help us, and abide by our standards while providing assistance (again, to avoid another Korriban). IC, outside the Silver Order itself, I would like to encourage the activity of independent FU and NFU within our sphere of influence, in a similar setup that the GA has for its NJO members, and other FU. As long as they're following basic laws, then I really don't care if they want to run around in dark hoodies and all that other jazz.

In the short term, I'd immediately move to repair relations with the Tygaran Alliance and the Iron Empire. Beyond that, I would also like to finally sit down with the GA/NJO IC and talk about working together against common threats bouncing back and forth between us. It's not a big secret that certain powers want to see us both go down. It doesn't make sense to continue having such chilly relations. I can't predict the GA response, but at least on our end, I will extend a hand of friendship and cooperation.

Aside from our allies, it's a good idea to also engage with TRE, who are shaping up to be our primary foes for the time being. Working together to craft some entertaining storylines while trying our best to keep out the salt and toxicity from the mix. Ideally, I'd like a setup that the GA and FO had in the early days, at least in terms of coordination to make sure events between us move smoothly.

Long term, I'd definitely plan on growing this faction by trying to get us back becoming more inclusive and steering away from this more restrictive hardline stance the faction has assumed as of late under certain characters. I want to also get more feedback from fellow members about creating events to keep them more engaged in the SJO.

There's other things, like working harder at recruiting, and forum upkeep (our current layout is messy and redundant).

So as for my qualifications. I've been around Chaos for a little while now, and I have previously been an FO of a major faction before. Unfortunately, the GR was too far gone to recover. During my tenure as FO, I also made some mistakes as I was getting a feel for the position, but with those mistakes made, I gained some experience on how to better comport myself. I learned the value of maintaining good communication and attitude. I also learned the importance of handling toxic members. I've seen in both the GR, and most recently in the SJO how one or two people can just drag the whole group down. I will not put up with anyone who is going to be nasty to their fellow writers. Hate each other all you want IC, but we should try to stay chill.

I'm pretty active, posting at least a few days a week, and I can usually be reached pretty quickly on Discord via the official SJO channel and through DMs. At, most it'll only be a few hours wait time for a response from me unless I'm sleeping or working. My phone is almost permanently attached to my hip. I've had some other projects I've been working at on Chaos, but I'm willing to put those on hold to put my focus completely on the SJO to get it back on track.

[member="Arisa Yune"] I think is a great choice. ^_^

I would also like to throw [member="Audren Sykes"]' name into the hat. He's been with us for forever and his loyalty is unquestionable, and he's always been level-headed and constructive when voicing his opinion. He is of course free to accept or decline the nomination if he has no intention to run for FO or GM. :)

One thing we learned from the previous discussion regarding what is expected from a faction owner is that they need to want the best for the faction and it's members. What I learned was that [member="Arisa Yune"] cares very much and fights for it. That is what we need to progress SJO into the future. She understands the difference between IC and OOC and the need to be able to view OOC decisions effecting IC ones, not only for herself, but the rest of us.

So with that and hard lessons learned from the recent past, I also nominate Arisa Yune for faction owner.

As for the position of grand master, I am not sure to be honest. But I do have a suggestion, in that we wait for a while to decide that one until someone stands up (character wise) to take the position. I think both Arisa and [member="Audren Sykes"] would make brilliant Masters of the Order, and it is hard for me to split the two.

Like Thurion has said, I am not sure if Audren would wish for this nomination but his name is up (from me) for either of the grand master or MotO.

So if the vote come to these two I guess I will have to be more decisive on the day. :p

[member="Coci Heavenshield"] Thank you. <3

To be honest, I feel that IC, Audren would be a good choice to hold the position of Grandmaster if he wanted it. He has been around for a long time, and has a pretty good reputation from what I can tell. I feel like I can work the job as GM, but I'd prefer to take the slot of Master of the Order as I'm still a new master, and plan on continuing to do a lot of work in the field. Audren doesn't need to be around every day to fulfill the role of GM, and from what I can tell, we're both pretty much in lock step in how we want the SJO to operate.

[member="Vitha Sat-thuron"] I bestow upon you the title of Grand Padawan.

The office of Grandmaster is what you want it to be. They can be a combat leader, a spiritual leader, a diplomat, or all of the above. I enjoyed having Thurion devote himself to each of these equally, but if someone wishes to focus solely on the one aspect that is entirely up to them. Meaning that if someone doesn't wish to be in the centre stage all the time and involve themselves in everything the Order does, they can choose to limit their involvement to a few select areas. :)

I don't really post around here that often but [member="Arisa Yune"] is probably the most natural fit to take the reigns as Faction Owner.

Even if this does mean you're going to continue to pew-pew my navy. *shifty eyes*

[member="Thurion Heavenshield"] Well as long as I can still run around as GM playing diplomat and soldier, then I'd be fine with the position. You mentioned being a spiritual leader, I think this is an area where Arisa could see some growth, as she's never been one to focus much on the spiritual aspects of being a Jedi. I'm not exactly sure who would be the best to help her with this now. Sorel would have been the one she would turn to for guidance, but unfortunately, she's gone for the moment.

I cast my vote to Arisa for Faction Owner.

As for Grandmaster, I'd say see where it goes IC. With no Grand Master, and no Master of the Order, perhaps for a time you could work out a Council of Masters? It would be a time of great need ICly, it would make sense for the Masters to band together until suitable candidates were found. No sense in rushing IC leadership positions, but we do need a Faction Owner.

Apologies for the delay in responding, I've been considering the matter.

While I'm honored by the confidence shown in my nomination, I'm unable to commit the time towards being FO that I feel it deserves. GM is something I might be able to do. In any case, if the new FO will have me I'll still be around as FA and/or as a sounding board.
