I want to hear people's opinions on this game, especially the war history buffs that know everything about anything swords.

Regardless I think it looks amazing, especially for Pre-Alpha and will probably get it eventually.

The thing that excites me most is that from the gameplay we've seen...You can do everything or take part in everything that we see in the cinematic trailer

>< I just want to play it haha

They way the Knight uses his greatsword is legit, same with the samurai and his katana.

The wounds aren't always legit, it'd be very difficult to decapitate an armored foe with a greatsword in one hit. While sharpened, they were more of amass weapon than a thrust and cut blade. A realistic blow from a greatsword on an armored body would be massive trauma and broken bones.

All in all, it looks awesome and I would play it in a heartbeat.

It looks to me like the knights are wielding your typical longsword, not greatswords, which were used for stuff like breaking up pike formations. I dunno about running through an armored foe's neck like butter, but longswords were absolutely more than capable of thrusting and cutting effectively. Just as well as, if not better than a katana.
